Dog shits. Owner gets bag and picks up main body of excrement. Bits are left behind. They walk on.

Seriously, if you have an animal that can't do a solid poo, you need to toilet it in your own grounds or take a little bottle of water or something. People can still stand in the residue. It is disgusting.

My dog has colitis. He's poohs can be solid (in which case I always pick up fully), but if his colitis flares up for whatever reason he can do 7 poohs on one walk, of varying consistency and often containing mucous or blood.

I take a bottle of water with me and sluice away as best as I can, but its not terribly effective. In the garden at home we hose down, but even that's not effective, it just spreads it about.

I think asking asking dog owners to always clean up entirely is impossible.

However, if I know when I set off on a walk that his tummy is bad, I will take him into the woods or over the fields and avoid parks and pavements as much as possible.

My dog refuses to pee or poo on pavement. It has to be on grass. Pain in the arse sometimes especially when she decides to scrabble into the thickest bush to toilet (I think she's shy)

What bugs me is when people who don't pick up their dog's leavings also don't allow the dog to squat in one place so you are left with dollops of crap for the next 2 or 3 metres. It's obvious they just dragged the dog along while it is trying to do it's business.

Well, I've picked up a poo that's left a bit of a skidmark right in front of a warden and we even had a bit of a laugh about the consistency of it and he didn't seem to think I needed to clean the grass.

The main road/path up to the park near my house is always littered with dog shit. There are loads of special bins but no one seems to bother picking it up.

While it annoys me a great deal, and I do think people should pick up the poo and be heavily fined if they don't. I wouldn't expect people to wipe the ground or spray water if the poo happened to be a bit runny. As someone who has to dodge shit on my walk to work every single day (with a toddler), I would advise people to look in the general direction they are walking if skid marks on the ground are such a concern.

My puppy had diarrhoea on the pavement last year. Terrible. It took me 4 doggy bags and copious amounts of cut dried grass (thank you, council worker who had done his shift there earlier that day), but the pavement was spotless.

Are we giving out medals?

I pick it up if it is in any way possible, but YABU. Dogs, like kids, also sometimes suddenly get stomach issues and it's impossible to predict that a dog might choose this particular moment to have a runny poo you can't pick up. What do you do if your child gets sick in the middle of the street and they are not in the age where you would also carry an endless supply of baby wipes? I don't think I've seen too many parents using their shirts to polish the street..

Oh and contrary to what someone said earlier, no you can't get toxo from dog poo.

I pick up my dogs poo, but if you honestly think that people taking out dettol so that they don't leave the tiniest trace of poo around is in any way reasonable, you are crazy.l

A speck of poo on a couple of blades of grass is not going to ruin anyone's clothes or do any harm to the bottom of a shoe.

You need to find yourself an actual problem to worry about, as you currently seem to have too much time on your hands.

I'd love it if the people who bring their dogs to shit excercise on the field opposite my house would pick up even a bit of the crap they do. Most are the sort who find something verrrrry interesting to look at in the distance while Fido curls out a dirty great turd on the footpath.

my dog often has soft stools and ill usually always pick up its poos unless ive forgotten a bag or shes had more poos than I have bags with me but im not getting on my knees with water and detol scrubbing the pavement for nobody, I think your having a bubble saying people should do that, your lucky people pick up the main body of the turd to be honest

Well I always pick up after my dogs but you should live in my village op then you would have something to moan about .... bloody horse riders on pavement all through the village and believe me horses can do a much bigger pile of poo than my 2 dogs ... try steering a pushchair round a pile of steaming horse shit
