Dog shits. Owner gets bag and picks up main body of excrement. Bits are left behind. They walk on.

Seriously, if you have an animal that can't do a solid poo, you need to toilet it in your own grounds or take a little bottle of water or something. People can still stand in the residue. It is disgusting.

I feed my puppy dry dog food (IAMS, suggested by the vet,not cheap) so that poo should be firm,and we do not feed her "tit-bits" for this reason but as I said, she eats anything she finds,at the moment,which we are deperately trying to discourage. We have no objection to her pooing in the garden and use poo bags to clear up there too. But if we take her for a walk, even if she has had a poo at home, she very often still has another one.I can't predict this though,there is no pattern.
I would never leave it there,but I am not going to scrape and scrub the pavements just so there is no slight trace, that is being unreasonable,just as it is unreasonable of people to not pickg it up at all.

And if anyone says they are too expensive, I would suggest that owning a dog is expensive and such is life. I also feed Royal Canin because it massively reduces poo and am always shocked when we run out and give them Pedigree for a few days how many soft stinking turds they create.

It does seem a bit medieval having animals we drag around on leads to get them out of the house so they can poo somewhere other than our garden. I wouldn't have a dog because I have a toddler - quite enough poo to pick up and bag thank you. I carry around a nappy changing bag for this purpose. If you have an animal that does the same thing then when you have taken it along a public walkway, it should be natural you supply yourself with similar equipment.

Dog walkers around here also seem to be protesting at a lack of dog poo bins or are just plain disgusting/lazy as they place turn in a bag, with a neat bow and proceed to leave it in the middle or, if you are lucky to the side, of the pavement. There is a dog poo graveyard all along one of the pavements right by DD's nursery. Surely wrapping it in plastic makes it even less biodegradable? If you aren't going to bin it, put it into a hedge or something so no one can tread on it! I always worry DD will try to pick them up as they are in various coloured bags.

Wild animals shit. They don't have people in charge of them, who have chosen to have them and who choose to not clean up properly. They also rarely shit where people walk.

My dog poos on the verge, never on the pavement. Sometimes I can't get it all up. There will be poo smears left on the grass.

No way am I taking a spray bottle on walks with me. Dog walks are 90 mins long and I'm not carrying a bottle and brush round with me.

If you know you can't be sure to clean it up then the logical conclusion would be not to let them shit there in the first place. Train them to go in your own garden before you walk them. Or how about carrying a plastic sheet you can put down for them to go on. Someone suggested a pot but that might be awkward. A sheet would work though.

Seems to me that the timing of walking the dog is about getting them as far away from your own place as possible before they go.

As for those saying a little bit won't hurt please research blindness in children caused by dog shit.

I love dogs, but this pisses me off no end.

Our road has an Anonymous Diarrhoea Dog whose owner seems unable to carry a bag with them, or has given up because it's so runny and just LEAVES it in the middle of the pavement. It's fucking disgusting. I've taken to having a look/sniff around before stepping out, and my bucket's at the ready. So fucking inconsiderate and dirty. Fix your dog's digestive system or let them crap all over your garden!!!

But, at least this person you're describing has attempted to clean it. Feel grateful for that. And if it was a one-off I very much doubt the owner had all necessary tools available for complete removal. So yabu.

Camel shit is pellet like in substance so can easily be kicked away. However, it smells more like pig shit than cow and is particularly tempting to dogs who stash it in the back of the truck when I am not looking. It's not really rollable in due to its hardness but could be a tripping hazard (a bit like walking on big marbles)

I am a dog owner and have to say I Hate it when people let their dog's poo on pavements. Mine has never done this, from a puppy he has always gone on grass and I am fastidious about picking it up. I hate stepping in dog poo, it is disgusting so I make sure to clean it.

There are streets around my home that look so scruffy, the pavements are full of dog poo and it is ignorant owners who think it is ok to just walk away that give responsible owners a bad name. Bet they are the first to go mad when they step in some though.

Why would you throw toddler shoes away because of a bit of poo? Wash it off! Or are you to posh to wash? Or wait for it to dry and then it should brush off. Yes its disgusting, but preferable to wasting money.

We've just got a puppy, a Lhasa Apso. My children, 13 and 16 are perfectly able to clear up after it as are my husband and I. However, at the moment she is eating absolutely everything she comes across, including cat poo,and as a result, sometimes her poo is a bit on the soft side. This makes it more difficult to pick up. But i am not going to lose sleep over it when there is other "crap" outside, including foxes,rabbits,cats,mice, rats,pigeons and bloody seagulls,the latter being the worst because they crap on you indiscriminately and it really does ruin your clothing,leaving you stained and smelling of fish .It is really, REALLY, disgusting.

Most dog owners are responsible.Like everything it is a handful who ruin it for everyone else.

My DD once shat herself at a party. I cleaned it up. It was horrible and also embarrassing, but she is my responsibility. I didn't just pick up the solid bits and tell the other kids thy should watch out more.

DD is a human child. She has also only done it once. If she was leaving runny shit everywhere I would clean it up, then keep her at home till she was better. If it kept happening because of a disability, I would have to carry cleaning equipment and maybe put her in pads - obviously for her own sake but also because I am not a dirty bastard who thinks leaving excrement around is absolutely fine.

I would love to have a dog, but one of the reasons I don't is because I know I would hate picking up it's poo, and after sitting for an hour one day trying to pick soft smelly poo out of ds's nearly new £50 Geox trainers (the ones with lots and lots of air holes in the sole) before putting them in the bin, I wouldn't leave it for others to walk in. (never bought Geox again after that either!)

Once in our local park and a ladies dog pooed right in the middle of the path as we were walking towards her. She made a big deal in front of her kids about how she had forgotten to bring a bag for the dogs poo and it was clear from the kids confused replies she never does pick up.

The best bit was when she knew she had an audience and tried to cover it with one little leaf incase anyone stood in it, I just had to say her that covering it with a leaf wasn't a good idea as no one would see the poo and a little leaf really wouldn't protect whoever stood on it. At this point ds(about 4 at the time) said enthusiastically "its like setting a trap isn't it mum!". Walked by her telling ds how clever he was thinking that (I am evil), and I'm sure she would have left without picking it up, but a least she was very .
