To think i must be a miserable old cow with regards to all the hilarity on the recent threads

I mean, people are ROARing with laughter - literally wetting themselves, crying with the hilarity of it all. Hmm

There must be something wrong with me because, yes, i think its funny mildly amusing and i enjoy reading the threads but can't be arsed to wade through the yoni stuff and will post that i think its funny or try and contribute but im a miserable cow so never find anything funny to say

Also the threads would be much shorter an easier to read if folk were to refrain from posting their reaction "oh i have just wet myself" type posts. Then everyone else thinks that they hve to keep up "oh, ive just popped a hernia i've laughed so much"

I love the funny threads, really i do, but i can't seem to muster more than a wry smile. Is it just me???

"How, just HOW can somebody make you feel crap by saying that they don't find something funny that you do?"

That doesn't at all..but comments about people wanting to show off, not knowing when to stop, wanting to be part of the "in crowd" etc, DO make people feel bad.

Fanjo

They don't make me feel bad, they make me think the other person is a bit chippy/ vulnerable/ jealous. You are right, though. It isn't a generous-spirited thing to do.

I hate all the 'in crowd' comments too. They are made to make posters feel bad.

ok maybe i should have said "could make people feel crap"

As in they aren't a particularly nice thing to say.

I just think starting a thread about a thread to announce that said thread was not funny is a bit strange.
Not funny to the Op, fair enough, but a lot of people had a laugh on it before the fun police got involved.
Why put down people because they and other like minded people were enjoying it, seems a bit miserable to me.
And I'm not defending the Yoni thread, though I read it and it made me smile.

And I agree with usual..they are definitely made to make people feel bad.

I was waiting for the yoni backlash TBH.

Always someone ready to piss on your chips on MN .

'Chippy/vulnerable/jealous'
'made to feel crap by being called "in crowd wannabees"

I didn't see this particular thread in that way at all - the OP just said she didn't get what was so funny. Why take it so personally?

Report
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/04/2013 16:50

Yes...and it's fair enough to say "if you can't take people pissing on your chips you shouldnt be on internet forum"..

Well, I can take it, but I will still call them on it :)

Has anyone actually had their chips pissed on, in RL I mean.

I have been wondering.

moonabove..I didn't take the OP like that.

i took comments like this one:

" Secondly, some jokes that might have been funny to start with get completely overdone with people not wanting to let it go because it gets a reaction or others jumping on the bandwagon and it becomes a 'them and us' - either you're in the 'club' or you're not in which case you are a joyless, dried up, haridan." like that.

And I am not taking it personally, I was on the yoni thread at the very start then again for a bit last night.

It's along the lines of the amusing tale your pal told you in the pub about her husband shitting the bed. It wasn't that funny and if she'd told you the story in confidence you'd have managed to bite your cheeks and hold back the giggles, but you collectively laughed about it for a good couple of hours when people wandered over and asked what you were laughing about so it was told again in a slightly more ridiculous way and they then told you their messy story, and so on.

It's not desperation to want to be one of the people laughing. It's just enjoying 'a moment' and not caring if someone looking on might think you're peurile and silly. I say this as someone who loves You've Been Framed.

I was talking aboutnreferences to in crowds and Royalty and cliques.

I have seen someone's chips being pissed on as it happens Exit. But then I blame them for putting them down momentarily on the grass when the dog was still a pup. His attitude was always "If I don't know what it is, best I piss on it".

Are those quotes from this thread? If so then i've missed them and I certainly didn't take the thread in that way.

The OP said "i am not spoiling for a fight, honest, i genuinely feel a bit like i am missing something. Its not just here, its even watching comedy on TV" That was the line I was following and I don't understand why people have come on here to get all upset about nothing.

Report
usualsuspect · 12/04/2013 16:56

I wasn't talking about the OP either.

Lots of things I don't find funny on here that others find hilarious, I don't think others find it funny because they want to fit in or be part of the 'in crowd' though.
