In shock, just come home from a soft play place, went with some other mums that I have just started getting to know. DD (4 years old) being unruly - we are going through a phase at the moment, one of the other mums just picked her up and smacked her on her bottom. I was completely stunned - I would never hit a child my own or someone elses... DD in tears i just gathered up DS's stuff took DD and left.

I want to pick her up on it, or call the police or something..... sorry dont have anyone in RL i cant speak to right now so sorry for ranty message im just still stunned!

WWYD?????

I feel sadly undeducated. Much like Agnes in Moliere's L'Ecole de Femmes..."Moi-meme j'en ai honte". Sigh. Nigel would be so disappointed in me.

MadameDefarge · 09/04/2013 23:51

But then again, Sartre did state that ' l'enfer, c'est les autres' and he was so right.

LittleEsme · 09/04/2013 23:52

Blimey Sad
Shocking behaviour on this thread.
Mumsnet at its worst.

KurriKurri · 09/04/2013 23:53

She did cut off the governor's head didn't she Princess?(although he was already dead so possibly that doesn't count) I agree with you though one decapitation does not a head-lopper make, that implies serial activity.

I think 'tricoteuse' would have been a more accurate nick name for MadameDefarge's nickname. If of course she had been referring to The tale of Two Cities. Which she wasn't so maybe calling MadameDefarge her by her posting name would have been less barking and childish more appropriate.

Loving the literary turn this thread has unexpectedly taken!

MadameDefarge · 09/04/2013 23:55

Allons enfants de la patrie les jours de gloires sont arrives!
Contra nous de la tyrannie, la tandard sanglant eleves?

Aux armes! citoyens, formez vos bataillons! marchons, marchons!
Qu'un sang impure, abreuve nos scions!

or as Serge Gainsbourg put it, Aux armes, etcetera.

I had a friend I trusted who doesn't have children (not that this makes much difference) smack my daughter who was then three about a year ago after she was playing up. I had left the room and came back in as it happened. I didn't get, abusive or hit her back as my daughter was still present. It was a smack and there was no lasting mark. This is still common assault though not something many police forces seem to do much about tbh usually only 'cautionable'. Instead after calming down and reassuring my daughter I made sure she was safe and with another adult then confronted my friend about her appalling lack of judgement and my disgust (ok i swore and yelled at her) waited for an apology got it then told her to leave my house and never return. She never did and we never spoke again. never should anyone else touch your child in this way! It is unforgivable.

MadameDefarge · 10/04/2013 00:01

The art of the tricoteuse. Still, I have humbled tonight, stripped of my unknown literary pretentions. Egad! the shame!

I must admit I am more frequently known as Mimi on MN, the even more fictitious daughter of MadameD, on the absurd but rather lovely IPOAT threads.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/04/2013 00:02

Have you read the rest of the Marseillaise? It even has a special verse for the children, where they swear to take up their parents' arms and carry on the fight - it is stunning!

Btw, MmeDefarge - I am happy to be your knitting tutor, should you need to apprendre a tricoter. WinkGrin

Ok, enough pretentious and inappropriate literary references. I want to know what's happening about the mean lady hitting op's dd.

MadameDefarge · 10/04/2013 00:06

alors, c'est tellement gentille, mais j'ai bien appris l'art du tricoter avec ma grandmere lorsque je n'eu pas plus de six ans.

Sydney would be proud of me.

MadameDefarge · 10/04/2013 00:07

god my french is crap now. Luckily Dickens wrote in english. Phew! Or he did when I read A Tale of Two Cities. Though I understand actually reading a book is tad passe now!

MadameDefarge · 10/04/2013 00:09

Oh the OP is tucked up for the night. we just divert ourselves....

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/04/2013 00:12

I shall take my knitting skills, and what little remains of my 'O' level French, and I shall go to bed, with the Marseillaise as tonight's ear worm! Grin

MadameDefarge · 10/04/2013 00:13

A la prochaine, SDTG!

DaemonPantalaemon · 10/04/2013 05:32

Oh wow. Is this what happened while we were sleeping?

What a pity the thread will probably be closed as soon as the MN people wake up.

All joking aside: Clumsyoaf ... people kept referring to your earlier threads not to troll-hunt, but to point to that you do have a thing for attracting unnecessary drama. I am sorry that your child is ills, and hope she gets better. THAT is not unnecessary drama, that is a serious thing.

All the other stuff though, is so unnecessary. Calling the police, calling the social services as someone suggested you do, all of this when you could simply have talked to the woman in question. Her response would then have guided you as to whether to take it up further.

You are obviously not to blame for the things that happen to you that are bad, but I would urge you very seriously to cut out the drama.

Good luck.

No, Carton swaps with Darnay and gets guillotined instead. Nasty knitting woman gets shot in a struggle with Faithful Maidservant. Everyone else ok.

youmaycallmeSSP · 10/04/2013 08:16

Tale tale tale

Fenton · 10/04/2013 08:23

I am marvelling at the hypocrisy of someone accusing another of 'literary ignorance' when they have watched a film 20 times but never thought to actually read the book.

As for the OP, I would really, really urge you to namechange, - once the T accusations and Hmm faces have been deployed to this level it usually means that normal service will never resume, - you will be remembered for your past threads and eye rolling will start before you get your first word typed, let alone the support/advice you might need.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 10/04/2013 08:32

Fucking disgusting! If you don't think a poster is genuine, then report it to MNHQ and fuck off off the thread! Angry I remember Clumsy's first party thread, and subsequent ones about her SIL/MIL, and everything I read from her on here is matching what I remember. She comes on here, asking for advice and support, and some of you jump all over her and mock. You sound like a bunch of bullies and you should be ashamed!

Clumsy, don't kick yourself for not saying anything at the time, no one knows for sure how'd they react when they're stunned by something. You reacted by getting your DD out of what suddenly became a hostile, unsafe environment, which sounds fair to me.

ScarletWomanoftheVillage · 10/04/2013 08:50

I thought it was against the rules to post about other threads.

There have been some really vindictive people on here.

Strong people don't put others down, they pick them up!
