To think fine hair can look perfectly lovely

Women on MN often bemoan their fine hair. Dd has fine hair and I think it's rather gorgeous. Instead of wasting money on volumising products that don't work, take a look at celebs who make their fine hair look gorgeous unlike celebs like Cheryl Cole, Victoria Beckham and that Kardashian woman with their awful extensions.

I have fine hair but lots of it, I dream of a luscious long lion like mane, alas I know most celebs have hair extentions and the like but I still want really thick hair.

Sirzy · 19/03/2013 21:33

But how much money do those celebs spend on hairdressers?

I have fine hair, it looks lovely for about 20 minutes after I leave the hairdressers. Otherwise it just looks 'ok' most of the time.

I have fine hair, you are right MoYerBoat it does look lovely on little DDs. But when you get older it turns into the hair from hell..........

MoYerBoat · 19/03/2013 21:43

Slabs who make fine hair work: Cameron Diaz, Kristin Scott Thomas, Reese Witherspoon ... Just for starters Smile

I'm sure YANBU, but mine looks rubbish. I only have about three hairs.

MoYerBoat · 19/03/2013 21:46

Slabs not slabs Smile

I have fine hair and am always Hmm when offered products to give it more body.

Mintyy · 19/03/2013 21:50

I have fine hair and I completely hate it. I would honestly sooner have better hair than lose the 2 stone I need to lose. It would make more of an impact on my life and my self esteem.

ConferencePear · 19/03/2013 21:52

Fine hair can look completely lovely - it just never does on me.

HiggsBoson · 19/03/2013 21:55

I have fine, thin hair and it sucks big hairy balls.

It doesn't hold any sort of style whatsoever and just clings to the head. It doesn't frame my face at all well and I have the sort of face that could do with the help.

Thick hair moaners have no idea.

marmite69 · 19/03/2013 21:57

I have fine hair, it goes frizzy the day I wash it, OK the next then greasy the third!

If I have it tied back the ponytail is about the same circumference as a pencilSad

I would love Patsy Palmer's hair, thick and a beautiful colour.

HiggsBoson · 19/03/2013 21:59

Oh yes...the thin ponytail Sad

PseudoBadger · 19/03/2013 22:00

Slabs not slabs - that makes it clearer :o

MoYerBoat · 19/03/2013 22:15

Ooh I get to say the MN mantra and blame "slabs" on my iPad Grin

Someone who looks good with fine hair is (don't laugh) Samantha Brick. Look at these pics if you can bear a DM link and spare yourself the accompanying blurb.

But how long did she spend having her hair done by proffessionals before that?

IntheFrame · 19/03/2013 22:41

I have thick hair but I'm worried .

It's been soooo overdone by everyone it can only scream" outdated 2010's look" in a few years.

Your wispy locks will be the look we all want. Look at Hollywood waxing - who'd have thought we all wanted to look like old ladies?

MoYerBoat · 19/03/2013 22:41

Curling tongs may be your friend rather than trying to get volume at the top.

I speak as someone who endured demi-waves as a teen. Anyone remember them?

BumpingFuglies · 19/03/2013 22:41

But slebs have hair pieces and a shit load of products!

Lueji · 19/03/2013 22:42

Volume is overrated.
It's a pain to control and it easily gets frizzy.

Gomez · 19/03/2013 22:44

Fine hair sucks. You CAN do anything you want with it for around 10 minutes that it fecking dies and either frizzes, flicks or clamps itself to you head. So YABU fine hair is shit.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 19/03/2013 22:44

Yes fine hair can look gorgeous just like all those slabs you've mentioned.

But have you ever seen them when they haven't washed their hair in 24 hours and had it primped and preened for the cameras?

Lueji · 19/03/2013 22:46

Is this a thin hair bashing thread? :)

Gomez · 19/03/2013 22:46

And I can do that Samantha Brick look for as long as it takes me to walk to the car. In the drive. And that's assuming it is not a slightly damp day.

CointreauVersial · 19/03/2013 22:50

I think you always want what you haven't got.

I long for long, thick wavy hair. I have short, fine, floppy hair. Every time I see a photo of myself it's the one thing that makes me cringe. Maybe if I looked like Cameron Diaz it wouldn't be so bad, but funnily enough, I don't.
