To think some posters invent their DC

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 12:58

Because they seem to spend all day, every day posting on Mumsnet. They are never off the forum, popping up on every second thread, demonstrating an encyclopaedic knowledge of OPs' posting history, past threads, current threads etc etc

Who on earth gets these 'DC' out to school, and feeds them and clears up after them and supervises their homework and cooks their dinner? Do some of you have full time maids and nannies who do all that stuff while you lounge around eating chocolates and aibu-ing?

AnyFucker · 13/03/2013 16:27

Do you think this might not be the place for you, OP ?

It's not compulsory, ya know

TheBigJessie · 13/03/2013 16:29

Not only are my children completely imaginary, but they have an imaginary ELC pig! Beat that.

And they scatter imaginary stuff all over the floor. And there's imaginary stains on the carpet.

Sparklingbrook · 13/03/2013 16:37

Inventing an MN persona sounds like a whole lot of hard work to me. Who could be arsed? Seriously?
You would have to remember what you had invented and everything.

I wish I had invented DS2 today though because it's Parents' Evening. Deep joy.

marjproops · 13/03/2013 16:42

OP, what do YOU do all day?!? noticing the time you posted your thread?

Genuine question.

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 16:44

Marj I posted at midday Confused

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 13/03/2013 16:47

Shouldn't you have been doing something else at midday though?

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 16:53

Nope. I had been doing stuff all morning and also for a good bit of the afternoon and will be logging off shortly to go and do more stuff. (and will probably not be on here at all tomorrow).

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 13/03/2013 16:55

That is very regimented nursery. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 13/03/2013 16:57

Right. I am off to Parents Evening with the imaginary DH and the pretend 11 year old.........

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 16:58

I run a regimental house Sparkling Imaginary and fake, but regimental.

Latara · 13/03/2013 17:03

I don't have DC & i haven't made that up either. (One day, hopefully...)

Pigsmummy · 13/03/2013 17:10

I am real, lying on the baby rug under baby gym and having a sneaky peak at MN while baby (real not fictional) beats a poor defenceless red elephant up, poor Trunkie

Tubegirl · 13/03/2013 17:16

I'm real! Seriously, If I was going to invent stuff, it would not be like todays post on my dd spelling anus. (Though if I had I'd have said it was sphincter and posted in Gifted and Talented to brag).

I see what you mean. Sometimes I just think AIBU is where people go to rant, and in many respects, isn't that what it's for? Otherwise posters would ask for advice under one of the myriad other categories.

morethanpotatoprints · 13/03/2013 17:17

I am real and on here quite a lot. My older 2 dcs have left school my youngest is H.ed, so have no school run. My dh works from home and we share housework. So I am free pretty much all day if I want to be. Other days I'm busy.

Why are you so bothered about what other people do?
I don't think people pretend to have kids, that would be a bit weird, wouldn't it?

UnChartered · 13/03/2013 17:18

if i was going to invent DCs they'd be brain surgeons and astrp physicists, not PITA s who write on curtains and won't eat cabbage Grin

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2013 17:19

I wish mine were imaginary

Then I'd only have imaginary shopping bills to worry about...

RockStock · 13/03/2013 17:23

I sold mine so I could MN in peace.

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 17:25

'Curious' morethan not 'bothered'.

UnChartered mine eat curtains and write on cabbage. They're so innovative!

RL DS is playing with a tape measure next to me. RL DDs are playing ponies. I don't see the great mystery. I've never understood how some parents seem so frantic to be honest. 3 meals a day, clean clothes, break it up now and then. Just let them play!

UnChartered · 13/03/2013 17:32

see, now you're showing off OP

or goading, not sure Hmm

nurserytea · 13/03/2013 17:36

No I'd never goad UnChartered.

I'm showing off Smile.

crashdoll · 13/03/2013 17:49

I don't have kids, imaginary nor real.

Pagwatch · 13/03/2013 18:00

If I wanted to create an Internet persona i am pretty sure I would not opt for a sahm with 3DC.
If that was the best I could come up with I would shoot myself.

FanFuckingTastic · 13/03/2013 18:06

I have two carers, they do the cooking, cleaning and other jobs, so I spend my time either with the kids (when they want me, sniff) or online. Obviously I also do other stuff, but evenings and the like, I tend to be fairly free to do whatever.

Snoopingforsoup · 13/03/2013 18:16

I'm just lounging around here while I have a very real miscarriage. I do have 1 DC.
I'm just gutted that I didn't embrace MN sooner actually. It's been most entertaining. I only ever found these threads when Googling stuff generally. I have posted sporadically over the years, but frankly if some of this is made up - brilliant. You've filled my miserable days far better than Loose Women ever could have.
