To be genuinely offended by a newspaper article for the first time in my whole life?????

Okay, just to clarify - I'm seriously hard to offend. Frankie Boyle doesn't offend me, Jimmy Carr doesn't offend me, and even Katie Hopkins just makes me roll my eyes in fleeting irritation.

THIS article has offended the hell out of me, and I'm close to complaining to the paper- which I never, ever thought I'd do in my life....

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2291904/The-outrageous-confessions-upper-class-Lolita.html

If the link doesn't work, just google Petronella Wyatt "confessions of an upper class Lolita."

Is it just me, or is this utterly vile????????????????

Sorry if someone's already posted about this article, but I couldn't see any such post and just felt I had to share it Shock

I'm actually pretty shocked by that....and like you I'm not easy to shock.

YouTheCat · 12/03/2013 09:20

It reads like she was being groomed by her parents and the dirty old codgers tbh.

Very sad that she thinks this is normal.

tethersend · 12/03/2013 09:22

It might offend me if it wasn't a pile of made up old bollocks.

Although ROAR at 'There is no suggestion that Norman Lamont behaved improperly' Grin

MissMogwi · 12/03/2013 09:22

Another piece of misogynistic 'writing' from the DM.

What a pity for that woman that her father thought so little of her that she was passed around his lecherous friends like a box of cigars.

catgirl1976 · 12/03/2013 09:23
Shock

Yup, that's awful and shocking

Branleuse · 12/03/2013 09:27

im not offended. Its a stupid article and its just one person, and of course many teenage girls are highly sexual. Theyve got hormones just like teenage boys.

If someone reads that artical and believes all young girls are lolitas and asking for it, then they have a problem though

Branleuse · 12/03/2013 09:28

the father grooming her for old men is gross

Branleuse · 12/03/2013 09:28

sad about Albert Finney

StiffyByng · 12/03/2013 09:30

'After all, it was Eve that tempted Adam.'

Words fail me.

CookieLady · 12/03/2013 09:31

It's that sort of warped perception that enables predators to blame the child. Disgusting.

LineRunner · 12/03/2013 09:33

It's even being touted as 'controversial' which makes either her or the Fail sound a bit desperate for the attention. Thirteen year olds setting out to entice old men? Judges' wank fodder.

And I think all this proves is that her peculiar upbringing did very definitely have a damaging and detrimental effect on her. Very, very sad

And no comments are allowed 'for legal reasons'. Probably at least partly because the Fail doesn't believe her narrative. So the poor old sap's insulting us whilst being insulted by the Fail at the same time. She's no different from the rest of the norberts they exploit.

I hope she gets help.

TroublesomeEx · 12/03/2013 09:35

After all, it was Eve who tempted Adam.

Says it all.

My mother is one of those who agrees that it is always the girls' fault and that the naive and innocent man is at the mercy of his hormones.

It's one of the many reasons we have nothing to do with her anymore.

Arithmeticulous · 12/03/2013 09:38

Her father appeared to gain some pleasure from it. How gross.

wongadotmom · 12/03/2013 09:38

The woman talks like a tin of beans negotiating it's way through a cow's digestive system.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 12/03/2013 09:42

It reads like a Jilly Cooper book - I was always a bit shocked by how it was seen as normal in the books for older men to pretty much force girls and young women into bed with them (yes I know they are fiction but I get the impression they reflect the way things were in the 70s and early 80s; I also know I am a cultural philistine for reading and liking them Grin).

Cooper also seems to be absolutely disgusted by breast-feeding unless the mother has nice boobs for all the men to stare at...bizarre Confused

ScarletLady02 · 12/03/2013 09:47

It was that comment about Adam and Eve that got me as well...

Katienana · 12/03/2013 09:48

I think all of us remember having teenage crushes but to want to snog 70 year old blokes is just odd! How sad that she was taught to get her self esteem in this way.

ComposHat · 12/03/2013 09:48

Typical Daily Mail bollocks ... write some outrageous crap with a casual relationship to the truth and then watch the hit count soar. I've noticed they used the old 'want to publish something misogynistic? - Get a woman to write it' an interesting twist on the 'want to publish something racist? Get a black person to write it' stunt the Daily Heil have been pulling for decades.

Dawndonna · 12/03/2013 09:48

Just like her father, it's all: 'Oh look who I know'. Tacky, boring, and I strongly suspect, having known one or two of the people she mentioned, untrue.
She is, rather unfortunately a silly little girl in a womans body.

Dawndonna · 12/03/2013 09:50

Oh, and apart from Lamont, I think the others are all dead. Funny that.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/03/2013 09:54

I pity her and hope she does not have daughters herself

Sadly women were often conditioned to think this way like she has been. I had an uncle who was a little too hands on if he could be, we were never left alone with him and when he was around he was watched all the time. I remember over hearing a conversation between my nanny and aunts and he was like this because hs wide was frigid at the time I had no idea what they meant Hmm

No he was a predator who liked young girls thankfully he never had children of his own even though it was often mentioned how much he loved them Angry

FreckledLeopard · 12/03/2013 09:56

Well, I didn't move in the same circles that she did, but nothing there came as any shock to me. I was hit on by my parents' friends from the age of 13 onwards. To me, it was normal that they would grope me, flirt etc. My parents were aware of it and did nothing.

Retrospectively a lot of what went on is pretty gross. Having said that, I don't doubt for a second that the article isn't true. To me, there's nothing shocking about it, just reflects what was normal for me.

rollmopses · 12/03/2013 09:57

She is absolutely correct about teenage girls as high-priestesses of manipulation. Any pretty girl knows well that to get what one wants, regardless how wrong/silly/etc it might be, one just has to flirt. Men melt. Fact.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/03/2013 10:03

maybe it is about using charm rather than manipulation I do not think or rather I did not want all men lusting over me but I liked to charm both men and women or maybe I was trying to turn all women into lesbians Hmm

MissMogwi · 12/03/2013 10:04

Oh well, groping a young girl is ok then. Men melt at a bit of attention, they can't help it.

FFS.
