To not understand it when women go on about men's bodies?

Ducklings45 · 10/03/2013 19:46

I never understand it when women go about Looking men's bodies on tv and finding them attractive.

I look at then and think 'they're good looking' but I don't fancy them or have any feeling for them.

Am I the only one?!

Are you hetero/bisexual?

StuntGirl · 10/03/2013 19:47

^ What she said.

EmmaBemma · 10/03/2013 19:48

can I get this straight - you find it odd when members of one sex find the opposite sex attractive?!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 10/03/2013 19:48

Depends what men you are talking about. EG Alan Titchmarsh YADNBU.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 10/03/2013 19:49

Men do it to women too.

wanderingcloud · 10/03/2013 19:50

YANBU I feel the same, I just can't be attracted to someone without know their personality.

TheViperRoom · 10/03/2013 19:50

No, I don't either, never had. I love my DH and we have a good sex life, always have had, but I have never looked at a man (or a woman for that matter) and thought "wow, they are good looking".

LessMissAbs · 10/03/2013 19:52

I'm totally heterosexual, and I can't understand it either OP. I know exactly where you're coming from. I tend to be more attracted to men's faces, and as long as the body is fairly standard, I would tend to focus on the face, even in real life, til I actually knew them well enough to want to have sex with them.

Shakey1500 · 10/03/2013 19:52

I comment on the male form and find it attractive and men "fanciable" rugby players thighs and arms spring to mind So I guess you could say I "fancy" them, safe in the knowledge that I am not about to jump on a train to Twickers and leap in the hot tub expecting it to be reciprocated towards my lumpy bod Grin

Funnily enough I was watching Torville and Dean with P.Morgan and found Christopher Dean weirdly attractive Confused

Rhubarbgarden · 10/03/2013 19:54

Yanbu. Especially with regard to muscles all over the place. Just suggests vanity to me, and I don't find that attractive.

Maebe · 10/03/2013 20:03

Depends what you mean. If it's drooling over traditional buffed, shiny, Brad Pitt-esque bodies then YANBU. I don't find that overly muscly, hairless look remotely attractive.

If it's not ever finding anything about a man on the telly attractive, then YABU. Could be David Tennant's skinny legs, or Russell Crowe's pot belly, but I thought most people find something about the other sex attractive?

hiddenhome · 10/03/2013 20:04

Eye candy is boring. Tanned with muscles leaves me feeling 'meh'

ClippedPhoenix · 10/03/2013 20:07

Can't say i drool but I can appreciate some Grin

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 10/03/2013 20:10

YANBU. Unless its Hugh Jackman. There is something about that man that makes me weak at the knees!

ChestyLeRoux · 10/03/2013 20:11

Are you maybe asexual?

DebbieLovesDallas · 10/03/2013 20:12

YABU, try watching without drooling at Channing Tatum! Wink

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/03/2013 20:15

People are different, I think. Some people just can't find someone they've not met in the flesh attractive. I don't think it makes you odd, there are lots of men and women like that, and equally, there are lots who do find strangers on TV attractive.

Or do you mean it's the type of men who're seen as attractive on TV, that you don't fancy? I don't go for the really muscly guys either, I don't know why, it's something about the veiny bits on muscles I find a real turn-off.

Pickles101 · 10/03/2013 20:17

YANBU, I'm the same (and heterosexual before anyone asks)

Clarabumps · 10/03/2013 20:18

I can see your point, I can think that someone is very good looking but have zero attraction to them whereas I can watch a Louis Theroux documentary (i know-GEEK!!) and I am sooo attracted to his quick witted remarks etc, I think I now need to feel as though I know something about someone before I am attracted to them.
I used to just fancy EVERYONE...What the hell happened??

CalamityKate · 10/03/2013 20:21

I've never been attracted to bodies.

I mean I can look at a bloke and appreciate a good physique, in the same way I'd appreciate a really nicely put together horse, or a beautiful dog, or a stunning woman.

But that's just recognising aesthetics. I fancy based on faces/personalities.

Ducklings45 · 10/03/2013 20:21

No I definitely wouldn't say I am asexual as I do fancy people but I think personality has a massive amount to do with it as the guy I currently
like is a lovely person too and we get on well.
I am possibly bisexual as i do think women are attractive but I don't know if it's in a 'I fancy you' or 'I want to look like your' wa but only ever been with a man Blush

Violetroses · 10/03/2013 20:21

Ooh, I'm the same! Am totally hetero btw, but while I can appreciate a good looking person, I don't actually fancy them. "Whoooar" comments from women at the sight of an actor or model type leave me a bit flummoxed.

Like WanderingCloud, I don't feel desire for people I don't know/can't have/can't speak to. Just DH. Makes life simpler.

SashaSashays · 10/03/2013 20:22

Pretty much what Maebe said, although I do like a muscly hairless man. That's why I married DH!

Undertone · 10/03/2013 20:25

I'm the same as you. I just can't look at an image of a man and on the basis of his looks alone develop a crush. There has to be some emotional/imaginative attraction too.

In RL i have been known to develop stinging crushes on unlikely looking chaps - solely on the strength of being in their company for long enough to get to know them and be charmed by them.

BUT i do find certain physical features a complete turn off - to the extent they could be the loveliest brightest bloke ever and i would always be faintly repulsed by them.

Rugby players are interesting. They are heaps of muscle (which isn't normally terribly attractive to me) but combine it with bravery, nice personalities and the heightened emotional circumstances of a national game... I'm smitten by every one. Total schoolgirl.

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/03/2013 20:25

I agree with Clara, I also find Louis Theroux very attractive, far more than some of the A lister types that we are supposed to fancy.
