To not understand it when women go on about men's bodies?

Ducklings45 · 10/03/2013 19:46

I never understand it when women go about Looking men's bodies on tv and finding them attractive.

I look at then and think 'they're good looking' but I don't fancy them or have any feeling for them.

Am I the only one?!

Morloth · 10/03/2013 23:21

God no, personality is irrelevant if I am thinking lustful thoughts.

DH is attractive, his personality matters.

I have no interest in a relationship with other men at all.

But sometimes someone is just so damned hot that I have very lustful thoughts indeed. I like the way men smell as well, clean fresh sweat smells good.

Beckham doesn't make my 'hot' list, he doesn't nothing for me at all. I remember these days very fondly though.

And who wouldn't consider a team change?

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2013 23:24

Just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't salivate over the menu.

TolliverGroat · 10/03/2013 23:34

My lustful thoughts aren't fussed about relationships , but want to at least be able to have a passing conversation, or be made to laugh, or at the very least have some indication that the lustee might be good in bed (which is at least partly a personality thing). It doesn't necessarily need to be much, but some kind of spark.

NoTimeForS · 10/03/2013 23:37

I am just the same! When I get to know someone and am attracted to their mind I then start to see attractiveness in their body too, but I would never ever look at a man's arse in the street or on Tv and think "wow" or "phwoar". Actually, I'd just never think to even look at all!

I can appreciate random beautiful people of both sexes, the muscles, curves, lines. But I don't fancy them.

YANBU

CurlyhairedAssassin · 10/03/2013 23:41

Hmmmm..... I am usually the same, OP. but I have to admit getting hot under the collar when I first saw the gardener in the latest diet coke advert and found myself thinking "you're welcome into MY lady garden any time, love"! Blush Grin

blueballoon79 · 11/03/2013 02:12

I'm relieved to read this thread as I'm the same and just never see man on television and think "Phwoar- Look at the body on him!" but I have a lot of friends who do and I was thinking I was maybe odd!

I'm most definitely not asexual and fancy my partner very much but it's for the whole package not just his body.

I tend to fancy peoples minds not bodies, if you see what I mean?

Ducklings45 · 11/03/2013 07:27

I am so glad I am not the only one. Though if I'm being really Honest, I've. Ever felt 'weak at the knees' by any man - the only time I ever felt that fluttering in my stomach and actually weak at the knees was when i met a female celebrity I adored and got to speak to her! Blush

SausageInnaBun · 11/03/2013 08:54

YANBU I don't really care what a man's body is like as long it's not extreme. SIL once said I must be "hard to please" as I don't find the likes of Brad Pitt, Jonny Depp etc remotely attractive. What I didn't tell her is that the men off TV I do consider attractive are Paul Hollywood, Richard Armitage and Dan Snow and I wouldn't say no to some of the blokes from Horrible Histories either Blush so hardly "hard to please". I think perhaps I just like more standard looking men.
One thing I do find strange is that I find female bodies far more pleasant to look at but not in a sexual way.

digerd · 11/03/2013 09:09

Female bodies are more interesting and aesthetically pleasing due to their curves. Men's are about muscles and strength - but is the face that attracts me and expression in the eyes.

phoenixrose314 · 11/03/2013 09:13

I am the same!! I am absolutely nonplussed by women who go "phwaooooaaarrr!!" about men's bodies - I don't get it at all!

FWIW, I am happily married to a man who I find extremely sexy and attractive - but that is based on his personality as much as everything else, and couldn't imagine ever feeling that strongly about a complete stranger!

eavesdropping · 11/03/2013 09:18

YANBU. I never look at a bloke's body & see attractiveness on that alone - oily firemen calendars etc or rugby players just leave me cold. Not a fan of muscles in general.

Attractiveness I base on face, personality, intelligence. Agree with other posters that Louis Theroux is very attractive.

saintmerryweather · 11/03/2013 09:24

Even like http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/1999_Girl_Interrupted/999GIT_Angelina_Jolie_073.jpg this morloth Grin

Im the same as you op i dont look at someone and think that i would want to have sex with them or anything but i can look at someone and recognise that they are gorgeous

saintmerryweather · 11/03/2013 09:25

Oh crap linkage fail try again! this

BoffinMum · 11/03/2013 19:07

Just one look at this fella and I melt Lookie here

YouBrokeMySmoulder · 11/03/2013 19:11

I didnt when Iwas younger so much but now I am nearly 40 and off the pill it happens a lot, almost a physical reaction sometimes whereas when I was younger it was more like the OP.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 11/03/2013 19:25

I agree with you, OP. The 'diet coke' ad for example... just imagine if there was an ad for men with a beautiful half-dressed woman in it... there would be an outcry.

StairsInTheNight · 11/03/2013 19:52

People obviously fall into two camps on this, then. I'm in the 'phwooar' camp Grin

I remember doing a survey once where you chose words to put into a fake lonely hearts advert, and it told you the kind of man you were looking for depending on what you wrote. I know I put 'sporty' which apparently is unusual, as most women are not that fussed about men's bodies. I was surprised at the time- I thought everyone lusted after a good male body (not muscle bound or hairless or oiled- but just fit I suppose!)

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/03/2013 21:28

Lying yes definitely. Also applies to that Moonpig advert with Dawn French where the fella gets chocolate on his top! Definitely a double standard!

BoffinMum · 11/03/2013 21:45

Well, ladies, you missed a trick with my link. Have NONE of you looked at it?? WinkGrin

digerd · 12/03/2013 08:03

Just looked at it and made me hoot. Always liked Terry Wogan's sense of humour. He was hilarious commentating on the Eurovision song contest. Even though he was slated eventually for being un pc.

That bulge could be a pair of socks stuffed down there for all we know.
But laughed at his comments about his wife 'getting big portions upstairs' now instead of cooking.

Love him.

Fanjounchained · 12/03/2013 08:16

Clara I'm with you on Louis Theroux !

I think I've changed as I've got older and have come to appreciate the male body more. DH is 43 and looks after himself, doesn't really drink and works out regularly. He has a fanf**king tastic body for any man of any age. He could crack walnuts with his arse cheeks and the muscles on his legs give me the raging horn.....Nice broad chest too....I appreciate this in other men too...maybe because there are so many out of shape middle aged men with massive beer bellies in my part of the world !

But as with Louis Theroux, I can find someone's personality very attractive....

MrsLouisTheroux · 12/03/2013 08:21

Too late! LT is mine! Grin
