I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

TimDudgeon, I would try a 34E, 34DD, 36DD, 36D. You're not that far off

plusonemore · 28/02/2013 14:49

thanks will try both 36HH and 34J, the band does feel a little loose

TomDudgeon · 28/02/2013 14:51

Thanks
I meant the m&s ones were uncomfortable so I wore what felt comfy.
I have a whole stock of bras as I've breasted 4 times and been various sizes so lll have a look and try one of those sizes on

Craftsonsea · 28/02/2013 14:52

Can someone do mine please? Am 30 around ribs and 35/36 around boobs. Normally wear a 36b (from our friends at m&s). I'm sure this far into the thread I should be able to work it out but I don't really understand what happens after c!!
Also, can anyone recommend anywhere v v cheap for bras as am fairly newly up duff and don't want to spend loads on bras that I might not wear very long, I went up 5 cup sizes last time with ds! ( although that was what debenhams measured so who knows what it really was!)
Thank you :)

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 14:53

MurderOfGoths in response to your post about Debenhams, I looked back at your measurements and I would say you definitely need a smaller back and a bigger cup. Sounds like you had a fitter using ye olde add 4 rules.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 14:54

Craftonsea, try a 30DD/30E

Try brastop, Leia, My curves and me and amazon for bargains

TomDudgeon · 28/02/2013 14:56

And as if by magic I've tried a 36d on and it's a little gappy. I think I have more skin than breast tissue.
I must be a 36cc Grin
Keeping both c and d towards the top of my drawer as I suspect the point in my cycle might make the difference.

Thank you for you help. I can go to my clinic safe in the knowledge that the pain isn't something silly like a badly fitting bra and that I'm not wasting their time

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 14:58

Quite Possibly, I fluctuate quite a bit due to cycle. Also make sure you are scooping!

Craftsonsea · 28/02/2013 14:58

Thank you so much! Grin
As I will probably be minus my marbles due to sleep deprivation come Christmas, please can a MNer with marbles intact nominate these ladies for the secret Santa? This is a proper public service!! Thanks

FryOneFatManic · 28/02/2013 15:07

I had found out that I was using the wrong size bra before I found threads like this, but it's helped to confirm that I'm not a 46E, but rather a 40G. It's made so much difference. I had been measured in M&S before DC1's birth.

Shesparkles · 28/02/2013 15:18

I have one of my new bras on now and I can't stop looking down at myself-I've NEVER had boobs like this in my life Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 15:19

Amazing what can be hiding in a bar bra huh ;)

singingsoprano · 28/02/2013 15:29

Can one of you lovely ladies help me,too? Smile
I am 40" under the bust and 51" round my fullest part.
Thank you in advance Grin

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 15:31

Beksy did you scoop? All that tissue at the sides should be in the cup. Some bras do come up small in the band so you can only really get a ballpark size and try around it, remembering that if you go up in the band you go down in the cup and vice versa.

Different styles also make a huge difference. It sounds like you might need a 'wider set' bra like a balcony style.

milktraylady · 28/02/2013 15:33

Posted and then went out- this thread is moving fast!

Thanks for the advice, bra shopping here we come!
Yay for underwires!

Thankyou for the size advice Smile

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 15:33

soprano 40H or GG, but you may prefer to go down in the band and up in the cup. Some ladies with larger back sizes are more comfortable that way, so try a 38HH or J too, maybe even a 36.

singingsoprano · 28/02/2013 15:42

CP thank you, I will go bra shopping at the weekend. This is such a helpful thread, so thank you to all the bra-measurers Thanks

Beksybob · 28/02/2013 15:44

Thanks Celtic. I did try scooping but I don't have much to scoop Smile. I'm pretty skinny (6ft tall & 10st) so not much fat going on round the sides (or the front for that matter).

I should try a balcony. I've not dared since my early days of bra-trying. The horror of my reflection in an empty 34A has stuck with me!

Mockingcurl · 28/02/2013 15:45

Hi sorry about the delay, my wifi has gone stupid.
Anyway, the bra is Charnos Harmony balcony bra.
It's too big at the top of the cup but comfey elsewhere.

justanothertenminutes · 28/02/2013 15:47

I'd be grateful for your help! I'm measuring 33" under boobs and about 36" over.

I hate bra shopping, can't find anything that fits properly, would love some nice feminine bras and a cleavage! Sad

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 15:48

Try a 32D, 32C, 34C and 34B. More likely the 32s though.

Crawling · 28/02/2013 15:49

Can someone do me please ive gained quite a bit of weight recently and have had trouble finding a bra that fits.
32 46

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 15:50

Start at a 32JJ and work from there Crawling

Crawling · 28/02/2013 15:51

Thanks statistically can I ask is a double J bigger or smaller than a J? Just so I have a idea of where to buy bras?
