I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

chisle 28 is 60 and indeed, almost impossible to find. Ewa Michalak has them.

Imflabulous · 28/02/2013 11:17

Ok having skim read this thread I have done my measurememts and under bust is 33in and over is 44in, could some one kindly let me know my real size? Thank you.

HazleNutt · 28/02/2013 11:20

Oh and to make matters more complicated, French don't use the regular Euro system (they wouldn't, would they?). So if buying french brands, check if they are listed by euro or French sizes.

UK28-EUR60-FR75
UK30-EUR65-FR80
and so on.

Chislemum · 28/02/2013 11:25

Hazel Thank you!!!!!! Thanks

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:30

flabulous 32HH (or H orJ), or maybe 34 H, but you will probably get better support from the 32 band.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/02/2013 11:31

Help!

Have been measured once, for nursing bras (currently wearing) - 34D
Prior to that measured myself as a teenager (there was definite adding of inches, using a table in the back of a "womans health" book of my mums) - 34A

Todays measurements are 30 and 37...so not a 34 then...

WheelieBinRebel · 28/02/2013 11:33

Right ladies just back from my shopping factfinding mission and I am AMAZED!! From my measurements last night I was sized at 34E. That was a little on the big side but the 34DD was perfect and balcony style. Came away with a 2 pack of M&S bras and a Fantasie Elodie bra which is very supportive. Didn't want to buy too many as i plan on being up the duff by the end of the year and will probably change size again then.

Interestingly, years ago before I had kids (I must have been about 19) an independent bra shop sized me at a 30E/32DD depending on style and fit of bra. She also told me that balcony styles suited me best. I bought 4 bras from her (lepel, fantasie and triumph iirc) and they were they comfiest bras I have ever owned with no strap slippage! When I was pg with DD1 I decided to go and get fitted for a maternity bra as had been wearing those bras for years by then and the lady at M&S actually laughed and said "whoever sold you this size wants shooting , you are a 36B".

Of course I took it as gospel and have spent the last 10 yrs or so being bloody uncomfortable. This morning I did the scoop thing and did end up with comedy double boob effect lol!

lilac26 · 28/02/2013 11:33

Celtic, thank you.

RedundantExpat · 28/02/2013 11:36

thanks, Hazle. wow. let's see the shop assistant's response to asking for 30G tomorrow. yeah.

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:37

BigPig 30F for starters!

Imflabulous · 28/02/2013 11:37

Celtic - thank you, and bloody yell did not think I would be that size! Is this in all bras or just certain styles? I currently wear a 36 dd now have an urge to go bra shopping!

Imflabulous · 28/02/2013 11:38

Yell = hell sorry.

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:38

Wheelie yay! Grin

What on earth are the M&S fitters looking for when they fit a bra? It's completely bizarre!

BigPigLittlePig · 28/02/2013 11:39

F???! Shock

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:42

flabulous I'd say that would be a starting point in all bras, but with trial and error you will find the styles/brands that suit you. e.g. I have floppy, bottom heavy boobs so plunge bras are no good for me because they escape out of the middle, so I usually wear balcony style. Some bras tend to come up smaller than others so you might need slightly different sizes. I'm normally a 32G/GG but I'm wearing a 32H today because of the way the bra fits.

milktraylady · 28/02/2013 11:42

Can I join the waiting room please?

Read lots of this thread & the other one- i had been to Rigby & Peller 6 years ago & they showed me how to fit a bra properly, just like described on here!

Plus I had a breast lump when I was 18- not cancer: i reckon it was badly fitting bras because I have always been slim back & wide of cup, noone in NI sold 28d back in the days. And from reading on here it's still a tricky size.

But am now pregnant (34 weeks) and fed up of my non underwired bra that hurts by the evening. Is there a reason why I can't wear underwired when preggo?

I measure 31 and 38.5 inches.

I am wearing 32f - underwired from matalan but it doesnt sit close to chest at very front - or non wired Freya deco bra in 32 f but hurts by the eve.

Am also confused as read everywhere your rib size increases when pregnant, but I was a 32 before, I don't think that's changed. Could I just be unusual & my ribs haven't expanded? (have lost some weight due to HG so not got fat, just a ridiculous bump!)

Thankyou!

Imflabulous · 28/02/2013 11:45

Ah ok, that makes sense. Currently wearing plunge t shirt bra and fit is awful. Will go shopping this weekend and report back.

needabra · 28/02/2013 11:48

:)
I've been refusing to wear bras since being pregnant/bfing (DS now 6 months, FF) because I was tooooo embarrassed to go get measured as last time M&S measured me they only stocked one bra in my size (42A) and I thought that it had got worse since, I've actually been googling 42AA bras because that's what I thought I was, max.

Anyway I posted my sizes on the AIBU thread and Statistically and others assure me that I am more like a 38E(!). I still don't really believe them Grin, I can't imagine my tiny boobs filling an E cup but I am heartened by all these stories, I have always found bras uncomfortable and always suffered from backaches - is this why??

I'm just waiting for DS to wake from his nap and then... we're going BRA SHOPPING! I'm actually quite excited about it for the first time ever. Will report back :)

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:52

milktray I would try a 30G for starters. Those in between bra bands usually find better support from the lower size but you may want to try 32FF as you are pregnant and may be expanding! If the bra fits properly there is no reason not to wear underwires while pregnant.

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 11:53

needabra can't wait to hear how you get on!

cantilena · 28/02/2013 12:06

I've ordered a couple of 30J bras online - feel like too much of a porn star going into a shop and asking!!! Grin

McPie · 28/02/2013 12:09

Right you super duper bra ladies I have been wearing ill fitting bras forever so I measured 34 under and 43 on the dangle but have lost just under 3 stone latley and there is more skin than tissue these days Sad I have a hollow on the outer side of each boob, when standing the widest is 40. I need to get a really good sports bra as well as I seem to live in my local leisure centre these days, is the fitting of a sports bra any different as they tend to be non wired?

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 12:14

McPie try a 34 F for starters and experiment with different styles and a cup size either side.

Good sports bras are in the same sizes. I find the Panache sports bra to be excellent (and it is underwired although the wires are well padded and hidden). Have also had some success with Enell which are not wired, although their sizes are bonkers (when I was a 34G I wore a size 1 Confused. Some of the ladies on here like the Freya Active which comes in underwired and soft versions but I don't find it supportive enough for high impact.

Get over to lessbounce.com where there is a good range and the reviews tell you what size the person is which is very useful. Just ignore the size chart!

Congratulations on your weight loss, that's amazing.

stacysmom · 28/02/2013 12:14

Thanks for the Brastop.com recommendation: I've spent a small fortune and can't wait to start trying on. They have a free delivery code (FREEUK but it's all over the home page) which ends at midnight and if you're on Quidco they also do 5% cashback.

MurderOfGoths · 28/02/2013 12:19

Just tried going for a bra fitting at Debenhams and they thought I was a 38DD, but only in one particular style of bra. If I wore a different bra (eg. A t-shirt bra) I ended up with a crease in my boob at the top of the bra cup, and it gaped at the top as well. I asked if a larger cup might help as my boob wouldn't be folding up in the cup and so it might not gape and she said no. I never got to test this as I ran out of time, am I likely to be right?
