I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

Ooh this sounds like the kind of help I need if you don't mind?
I am 17 weeks pregnant and was measured for a maternity bra (the dreaded lack of wire) and was 34DD.
Using the method you suggest I am 30.5 under and 38 over boobs. At the moment i feel like I am all boob and totally out of proportion on my small frame. Pre preg I was a 30D but they have ballooned somewhat!
thanks!

BinarySolo · 28/02/2013 09:34

No Sorrel. The under wires sit right on my skin too. It's an asda bra so not sure if their cup sizes are more generous.

Scrabbleyurt · 28/02/2013 09:35

Hi,

Can I ask for your help? I'm 29 inches under bust and 37 around. I currently wear a 36C. I assume that's the wrong size!!!

Thank you in advance.

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:35

parttimer try a 30F

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:36

Scrabble - 28G or around that so maybe a 30GG

Didactylos · 28/02/2013 09:37

OK, ribcage 34, Widest 46,
currently wearing 34 or 36 F to FF depending on manufacturer and planned activity
is this adequate?

Worst ever fitters La Senza who tried to tell me that I was a 38C
despite me showing the daft lassie that I could fit an entire fist between underbust and bra band, Refused to buy so she charmingly refused to bring me any more bras to try as 'I had been properly fitted' and apparently was in denial. Explained that if I had wanted a loose non supportive vest I could have bought one much cheaper. Never darkened their doors again

Best atm - Figleaves especially swimwear, Bravissimo and the lovely lady in our area who will come to your house and fit you with nursing bras/vests. Best money I ever spent on underwear, so much easier than dragging a small baby into town and she had a good selection of sizes - a business opportunity for bra savvy mumsnetters?

parttimer79 · 28/02/2013 09:38

Thanks! Any suggestions of good shops to try for maternity bras? My friend suggested hot milk but they are only available online (until I am in London in a couple of weeks. :)

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:38

Didactylos

I would try a 34J or JJ

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:40

parttimer - not my area of expertise (no DC!) but Bravissimo do a range. Someone else might have some suggestions but as long as you try them on yourself and don't let them for you Grin

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 09:44

parttimer it's worth knowing that if you have a properly fitted underwired bra it's fine to wear in pregnancy, because the wire doesn't cut into the breast tissue. I'm pregnant and I have no intention of wearing non wired bras until I have to get nursing bras (and even then I'll try to find wires...)

SorrelForbes · 28/02/2013 09:44

BinarySolo That sounds good. The cup volume of a 36H would be about the same as a 38GG so it might be that the bras you have from ASDA are just a slightly different size wise. It might be worth trying a 36 at some point though, just to make sure Wink

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 28/02/2013 09:46

Have you been working through the night, bra ladies?

HazleNutt · 28/02/2013 09:46

I agree with Celtic re wired bras. Most people grow in pregnancy and if I don't get enough support without wires normally, I sure as heck won't get it when I'm even bigger! Also pregnant and happily in my underwired bras and will get underwired nursing bras as well.

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:47

I have some ASDA bras in a J but because they don't do a HH (I think) or they miss out a size, they come up small, the J is more like a H

CambridgeBlue · 28/02/2013 09:49

Could you knowledgeable ladies possibly help me too please? I've done the measuring and am 33 under bust and 42 round. Currently wearing a 38DD or 36E as measured last week by M&S (but doubting that now after reading these threads!) but never seem to feel very comfy in whatever bra I wear.

Thank you :)

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 09:50

Hazle I believe you're further on than me (am only 8 weeks) so please let me know where you find good nursing bras!

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 09:51

Cambridge start with a 32GG. Bloody M&S!

ScrambledSmegs · 28/02/2013 09:51

Didn't need an intervention - last went to bravissimo pre-pregnancy and was measured at 28F. Currently breast feeding and recent measuring put them at 30G. Same size as the baby's head, I reckon.

When I've stopped bfing in the dim and distant future I'm taking myself off to Rigby & Peller to really pamper my boobs. They deserve it Grin. I'll be making sure I know my measurements before I go though, just to be sure R&P are doing it right. I'm sure they are though. Her Maj's embonpoint is just fabulous, darling.

SorrelForbes · 28/02/2013 09:51

Congratulations CP!

EMUZ · 28/02/2013 09:51

Cambridge - try a 32/34 G/GG

pod3030 · 28/02/2013 09:51

ooh, right
am 29.5 underbust
34 round boobs

am currently wearing 34b measured by m&s years ago.

how do i work it out?

HazleNutt · 28/02/2013 09:51

Celtic I'm not buying nursing bras yet, 23 weeks. But people here have praised Anita underwired nursing bras, so will try those out when time comes.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 09:52

Cambridge, start with a ,32gg, 32g, 34,g and 34ff

SorrelForbes · 28/02/2013 09:52

ScrambledSmegs I love R&P but... they never seem to have very much in a 30G (and I'm rapidly needing a 30H as they don't do GG) apart from full cup bras.
