Especially when most working people couldn't never afford to live somewhere costing that much?

Ok. Personally for me ( as I do my own self) I would have thought "meh" if she hadn't a bad attitude..

Its her attitude all along which appalls me.

Dont worry, I also feel the same about my spoilt DB who pays no bills at all, demands a brand new Audi is bought for him, and gets 5 paid for holidays a year with no sense of gratitude. He expects it. It grates.

Its no different to me.

I love threads like this. The DM is well known for publishing inflammatory pieces that inflame their own target audience and the lefties that read it just to get annoyed. The length of this thread shows how good they are at their job.

NewFerry · 19/02/2013 22:25

I haven't read al the posts on here, but if anyone is interested, the story is also in The Guardian, and is being reported on in the BBC local news.
No idea what spin, if any, will be put on the story though.

Boney - I'm lost Confused you say:

"Neither you or I no the circumstances to which the first child was conceived, calling it abuse does not make it abuse.

Although legally it is sexual abuse".

Erm so legally it is sexual abuse, but we don't know that it was abuse Confused Riiiiiiggghhht.

Randall - I think it's worth being drawn in because I have this vain hope that there might be lurkers out there who start by holding similar opinions, and ended up so appalled that they re-examine their thinking. We can but hope there are still a large minority of thinking people out there, or the country is truly truly doomed.

These threads give us terrifying glimpse into our future.

zumbaholic · 19/02/2013 22:27

Blimey havent read the whole thread but I wonder how she will cope when UC rolls out in october? seriously? if benefit will be capped at £500 - and that includes rent+council tax benefit....she stands to lose hundreds a month, surely? I cant understand why not one adult in the household works though, thats disgraceful!

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 19/02/2013 22:28

The thing is Randall you clearly have the right attitude to benefits and appreciate the support they give you in order to get by in life. You don't sound to me like one of the minority entitled which the DM has painted a picture of today. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone.

NcNcNcNc · 19/02/2013 22:28

Randall Not everyone thinks like them, try to keep that in your thoughts Smile

I agree with again HoHoHo.

I

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:29

HoHoHoHo - that sounds dangerously like patting Randall on the head and praising her for keeping in her proper place. I hope that wasn't what you intended?

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 22:29

auntmaud attempting to be patronising is no substitute for intelligence.

Mrs de vere Grin

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 19/02/2013 22:30

zumba there will be a number of special cases when UC comes in. This woman may qualify as one.

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:30

zumbaholic - when you've read the thread can you report back on whether you are one of the thinking people or one of the sheep. Smile

NcNcNcNc · 19/02/2013 22:30

Gaelic - Good point, years back I used to think like AuntMaud (well maybe not quite that bad but close), till I educated myself. Threads like these definitely help lurkers Smile

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 19/02/2013 22:31

I didn't realise benefit claimants had such a place they had to be.

JakeBullet · 19/02/2013 22:31

Okay folks.....just to throw something else into the mix here.

I had the misfortune some time ago to live next door to the neighbour from hell. She had 5 children raging from 24 to 3 (the 3 year old has mercifully now been removed). All her older children are living on the edges of society....her eldest sons and she were openly drug dealing, the dogs were always roaming the streets and every other word was "fck". The police raided the place once every six months or so and it was horrendous. While I was there her second youngest child (a real charmer) was hauled away by police and imprisoned for burglary among other things), this left 14 year old daughter (so fcked up she was only able to attend school part time) and the poor little 3 year old who was so neglected it was untrue.

Today I learn that she has been sent to prison (along with the woman who lived in the flat below me...(God only knows what will happen to the 15 Alsatian dogs she kept in a variety if kennels in the garden) for defrauding an elderly man out of £4k. They "persuaded" him to give them money to "start up some kennels" and gradually took more....the man had Alzheimer's but being in the earliest stages was aware but vulnerable. Their defence was that he had disclosed paedophile tendencies to them (a fact which was investigated by police and found to have no basis in fact).

THESE are the real drain in our society and NOT women lie the one in this article.

BlackMaryJanes · 19/02/2013 22:32

so by your reckoning black the vagina get bigger with every child? Really? Is a wonder my womb just doesnt drop out as I walk.

Your cervix keeps your womb in place. The vagina does indeed get stretched. It shrinks somewhat afterwards, but never back to pre-kid size. And with each kid, the effect is more pronounced.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/02/2013 22:33

"Erm so legally it is sexual abuse, but we don't know that it was abuse Riiiiiiggghhht."
and yet young boys are found not guilty of sexual abuse whne they get 14 - 16 yr old girls pregnant. The whole area of consent and abuse are a grey mine field.

Legally, morally, ethically are what this thread is based on.
three different things.

You don't know that the relationship was abusive in the moral or ethical sense.

Woahhhhhhh oh no she diint! Shock

Viviennemary · 19/02/2013 22:35

The reason why no adult in the house works is that it is very unlikely most jobs would pay anything like what they qualify for in benefit. I am not making a comment on that because no point in accused of being a brainwashed sheep.
