Especially when most working people couldn't never afford to live somewhere costing that much?

I have just had to calm my dad down over this, and Hilary Mantel. I have advised glueing blood pressure tablets to his Daily Mail.

EstherRancid · 19/02/2013 22:06

only on MN and the DM could someone suggest taking a child into care because the parents were poor Shock

some people disgust me, they really do

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 22:07

No more than 4 NcNc. Which is still pretty generous considering how few working people can enjoy a house of that size even.

gordy you still appear to be invoking Godwin's law and it's getting tedious.

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:07

BlackMaryJanes - why? Why would anyone "dream" of a 6 bedroom house that they don't need? I don't get it. If I had the choice between a 6 bedroom council house or the 2 bedroom house I live in with my DH and 2 kids, I know which I'd choose!

usualsuspect · 19/02/2013 22:07

Not better for the ones bleating on about their precious tax money though.

It would cost you a lot more to keep the children in care.

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 22:08

Thrown to the lions? Grin I can see her posing for the DM photos!

usualsuspect · 19/02/2013 22:08

Some of this thread is vile.

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:09

Jesus, only in this country could people be seriously worried about the number of bedrooms this woman gets in her rented house.

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 22:09

oh dear am I being tedious - never mind - you'll get over it

anyway Utopia - Night Grin

NcNcNcNc · 19/02/2013 22:10

Boney - because its a legal fact Confused She was 13/14 he was 23 isn't that rape? I'm not a solicitor but I thought the age of consent was 16?

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:10

My mum and dad are coming to stay this weekend - they read the Daily Fail. If they mention this story I doubt they'll make it through the night. Grin

EstherRancid So, can she afford the time each of her children deserves?

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 22:11

Probably because only in this country are working people priced out of property ownership and the non working given free new builds. No wonder we're the bloody laughing stock!

MajaBiene · 19/02/2013 22:13

How much do you think it would cost to house each child with a foster carer?

gaelicsheep · 19/02/2013 22:13

Auntmaud - how did you come by your big house did you say? Can't be through intellect that's for sure. You do understand the difference between rental ownership don't you?

McNewPants2013 · 19/02/2013 22:13

give this women a break, she has only just battled cancer

BlackMaryJanes · 19/02/2013 22:13

And of course the outcomes for children in care are famously fantastic too

If the process leads to adoption they would have a better life than this shite.

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 19/02/2013 22:13

I am more annoyed at the woman's attitude than any of her financial gains.

BlackMaryJanes - you are living up to your name.

BlackMaryJanes · 19/02/2013 22:14

So, why did she keep popping out sprogs if not as a lifestyle choice?

We could of course give everyone very nice, decent, universal schooling, where ambition is the best contraception.

But we accept a form of madness that is not cheaper, but is politically somehow more acceptable: where we run a care system we all hate, an underfunded state school system that is fucking around with 'academy status', and a blame culture accentuated by a media that we are allegedly sickened by.

EstherRancid · 19/02/2013 22:15

who the fuck are we to cast aspersions on the time any parent spends with their child?

what about people who work f/t or in a different country from where their children live? service personnel?

lets take them into care too then

Hmm
