Especially when most working people couldn't never afford to live somewhere costing that much?

I explained further up the thread that I had sex at 14 with a 21 year old and it certainly wasnt rape seeker. If this woman was raped at 13 then I hope she got some help.

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:52

Where did I say you were ashamed gordy?-you seem to be seeing things that arent there?

mathanxiety · 19/02/2013 19:53

Before there were council houses people worked their arses off for basically the chance to live in a little two up two down with maybe outside loo if lucky. What did that teach their children? (and often there were lots of children)

Just saying...

Jesus wept.

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:55

You are right mrsdevere that comment was more flippant that I intended so I will apologise for that.

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 19:55

I do apologise

pashapasta · 19/02/2013 19:55

Ashoe

she is getting help, to keep a roof over family's head!

seeker · 19/02/2013 19:59

It was to the glossing over the fact that this woman was raped at 13. If any of our daughters got pregnant at 13 by a 22 year old man it would be bloody rape all right. But because this woman is "underclass" that's fine. She probably led him on........

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:59

I meant that I hope she received some kind of counselling when she was 13 for the sexual abuse.

seeker · 19/02/2013 20:01

Not sexual abuse. Rape.

CecilyP · 19/02/2013 20:02

How was she raped at 13? It says she became pregnant at 14. There is no suggestion of anything at 13 unless you know more about it than the rest of us.

seeker · 19/02/2013 20:05

She had a baby at 14. So she was probably 13 when she conceived that baby.

Would you consider your 13 year old daughter fully able to consent to sex with a 22 year old man? Thought not.

maisiejoe123 · 19/02/2013 20:05

Whatever happened 25 yrs ago - is this anything to do with 11 children and taking off society with no plans to give anything back.

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 20:06

I used the word "abuse" as I presumed that it was an ongoing situation? I wasnt raped when I has sex at 14 btw-I was also sexually assaulted by a family member as a teen so I do know the difference. You may beg to differ of course as is your right.

EstherRancid · 19/02/2013 20:07

I would be very upset if my dd had a baby at 13 of course. Its terribly sad. But its even sadder that we as a soceity have enabled her to continue having children without a thought to how to provide for them.

RandallPinkFloyd · 19/02/2013 20:11

Christ this thread is depressing. All this vitriol against a total stranger. How can people summon up such aggression and anger towards someone they know nothing about other than the fact tha she has lots of kids and is bing moved to a bigger house? Especially when lteve has taken the time to actually put the facts straight. Somehow everyone seems to have glossed over that completely.

I'm very glad that nice middle class girls don't get raped or taken advantage of, that's a big relief Hmm

CecilyP · 19/02/2013 20:13

The article does not say she had a baby at 14, it says she got pregnant at 14 so could have had the baby at 14 or 15. (Probably 15, as knowing the tabloids, if it was 14, they would have said so).

Obviously still not desirable, but there is no need to exaggerate things.

SolidGoldBrass · 19/02/2013 20:14

As someone else said upthread, the bigger answer to the housing problem is for the government to fund a nationwide council-house building scheme. It would provide jobs as well as decent housing. While the idea of allowing people to buy their council houses wasn't in itself a bad one, the real problems began with the fact that councils were forbidden to spend the money raised from selling council houses on building new ones. There have also been problems with planning permission where housebuilding companies promise a percentage of 'affordable' housing in exchange for getting permission to build on greenbelt or community land, but simply don't do so: most of the new housing built is being sold to buy-to-let investors and pushing up the overall cost of housing even further.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/02/2013 20:14

Would all these jealous bitter people really want to live in a 6 bed house with 11 kids?

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 20:15

Im not middle class by any manner of means!-I wish I had the sort of childhood that affored a big house, private school etc.
