"clutches pearls" IS NOT FUCKING FUNNY

sorry. really had to get that off my chest, seen it on way too many on threads today.

Please join me with your shouty rants if you like. I shall not be clutching pearls, hoiking bosoms or doing any other off camera faux amusing movements. I'm just sitting here...typing.

OP posts:
Casserole · 15/02/2013 19:55

I can't fucking stand people who constantly refer to themselves in the third person.

arf@ "only if I can disappear up your arse" Grin

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 20:02

Sorry OP

fuckingpamela · 15/02/2013 20:13

YABU.

It is funny to me. So there.

Tanith · 15/02/2013 20:23

Been using those brackets since my programming days many years ago. Can't quite remember what language and if they were comments or not - I think they were.

So not really a Mumsnet thing, I don't think.

mrsjay · 15/02/2013 20:33

Hoicks busom and clutches pearls as I love my . luvs them

RandallPinkFloyd · 15/02/2013 20:34

There's phrases I find funny and phrases that wind me up.

What I do is laugh at the ones I find funny and not laugh at the ones I don't find funny. Sounds bonkers I know, but it's true.

The only thing on here that really pisses me off (other than someone making the same point I made but four posts later and everyone telling them how wise they are - bastards) is threads full of people whining on about all the stuff that they don't like about MN.

No one's forcing anyone to be here. How do any of you manage in RL. There's annoying people all over the shop. You must be in a permanent state of rage!

Bunnygotwhacked · 15/02/2013 20:35

There was an old thread with a bloke talking about his dw polishing her pearl ever since then whenever i read clutches pearls I'm imagining them holding onto themselves in the manner of a toddler desperate for a wee

mrsjay · 15/02/2013 20:36

randall i get that in real life make a suggestion or comment get ignored then somebody else suggests it

RandallPinkFloyd · 15/02/2013 20:40

See MrsJay that's one thing I can't shrug at, it makes me furious. Furious I tells you! I inwardly stamp my feet like a 5 year old Blush

Validate me you bastards, validate me.

Psammead · 15/02/2013 20:45

Mrsjay, that happens to me too!

Grin

No, it really does though. I get quite tempted to write a very scarastic 'Oh, well that's a wonderfully made and very original point you have there' or similar.

DeepRedBetty · 15/02/2013 20:49

Casserole that doesn't mean you can't stand Zombie does it? Who never refers to herself except in the third person? And is usually extremely good value as a poster? Shurely shome mishtake?

And I luff strikethrough and my and putting things that ought to have an emoticon in [square brackets] - like Chocolate and Gin - especially when speaking to Olivia on a Site Stuff thread.

Agree sometimes phrases get a bit over used OP, but they can be very useful shorthand.

mrsjay · 15/02/2013 20:50

I used to be on the Ptas at nursery then primary would say something people would look through me then somebody would suggest the same thing, It happened at me at work the other week I was really fuming I did say something though I was so cross ,

RandallPinkFloyd · 15/02/2013 20:53

Well it wasn't exactly the same point psammead, and anyway, I said it better Wink

VerySmallSqueak · 15/02/2013 20:58
Fo0ffyShmooffer · 15/02/2013 21:05

I've posted on a S and B thread this evening. 3 posts later someone asked the same question in slightly different words. THEY got name checked and answered. I got ignored and I am LICKING MY HURT FEELINGS.

mrsjay · 15/02/2013 21:06

Fo0ffyShmooffer · 15/02/2013 21:15

Thanks mrsjay I'm pathetically pleased you stroked me.

Maryz, you are a genius. THAT'S why I get ignored. Folk think I'm fluffy. I need a hard name. Like gobshite or something.

BlatantLies · 15/02/2013 21:27

You have to admit that hoik is a fantastic word.

I use it a lot in real life. I have teenagers so it comes in very handy as teenagers often need reminding to hoik things up or down. (trousers up and skirts down)

as you were.... (like that's not annoying)

Grin
mrsjay · 15/02/2013 21:28

I love hoik every time i read it on here i have visions of the hoiker being les dawson when he was cissy it makes me Grin ( i am easily pleased)

mrsjay · 15/02/2013 21:29

tis ok fluffy Grin we all need a little head stroke now and again
