"clutches pearls" IS NOT FUCKING FUNNY

sorry. really had to get that off my chest, seen it on way too many on threads today.

Please join me with your shouty rants if you like. I shall not be clutching pearls, hoiking bosoms or doing any other off camera faux amusing movements. I'm just sitting here...typing.

But I love this about mumsnet! It's so much better than ROFL and LOL! It's much more creative and descriptive! Smile

atthewelles · 15/02/2013 15:05

I'm pulling up my judgey pants as we speak.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 15:06

I must say I like the creepy wee brackets. You can be so inventive with them.

Did the phrase come from scottishmummy. I seem to remember her taking issue with them a while back. Or is "creepy wee brackets" a set phrase I hitherto had no knowledge of?

For someone who's on MN all the time, I actually know fuck all about it. Quiches are another mystery which are passing me by.

usualsuspect · 15/02/2013 15:07

Meh

coraltoes · 15/02/2013 15:08

quiches?

OP posts:
ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 15:08

Succinct, usual.

atthewelles · 15/02/2013 15:08

You can all just sod off with your cats bum faces.

lurkedtoolong · 15/02/2013 15:09

I'm at a complete loss about the quiches.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 15:11

Seriously, don't worry about it. Apparently...it is a funny take on the word "clique"! Yes I know! HilAIRious!!

Eskino · 15/02/2013 15:11

I was a bit Confused then I went Hmm and realised it was all a Grin now I'm Envy because I've never been given a Biscuit

coraltoes · 15/02/2013 15:11

I do agree the "asides" can be amusing on Mumsnet, please dont misunderstand me, it is when the bandwagon gets a bit oversubscribed and everyone starts using the same witticisms that it makes me a bit unstable

OP posts:
lurkedtoolong · 15/02/2013 15:12

Oh - I wasn't at a loss, it was as unfunny and wanky as I thought.

TanteRose · 15/02/2013 15:13

Bye then, don't let the door hit you on the way out Grin

Bunfags · 15/02/2013 15:13

What dose 'gavel' stand for?

broccolirocks · 15/02/2013 15:13

I think it's time to draw a line.

I'm surprised no one's put the kettle on yet.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 15:15

genuinely does make me stabby.

As does the word "grabby". I never hear that in the outside world.

I never knew what a gavel was either. It's apparently one of those hammer things which judges use when they pass sentence. And if someone says something like:

That's grabby

it's like saying FACT.

lastsaloonNelson · 15/02/2013 15:15

LTB 's

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/02/2013 15:15

This makes me want to throw stuff:

MewlingQuim · 15/02/2013 15:17

Creepy wee brackets have been called such for as long as I have been on MN, at least 2 years i am a serial namechanger

I love them an I want to use them in texts and emails but I will out myself as a MNetter ditto strike throughs

I would never clutch my pearls in public though.

A gavel is one of those little hammers that judges bang when they finish, I think.
