To despair at EVER finding a bra that fits?!

So, I have read every website on the subject, been measured at Bravissimo, and STILL find every single bra uncomfortable - even the ones that Bravissimo said were the right size. I just want to rip the thing off as soon as I get in from work. They seem fine for about an hour, then start to dig in.

I find that they just 'curl up' at the back, and I get horrible back fat, or dig in at the side/arm pit, but mainly on just one side! The band never seems to sit flush to my side iyswim. I have tried going up a band and down a cup, down a band and up a cup etc, have tried every style going..........

I found when I wore my saggy old too big bras they gave me no shape or support, but my god they were comfy!

I think I am about a 36/38 E/F. I have ordered and sent back about ten bras this last month as they just all HURT.

So, AIBU to just let 'em all hang out and be pain-free??!!!!

VanCamps I love that that bra is described as a women's bra. Just in case anyone is in any doubt as to the target market for bras Grin

soaccidentprone · 07/02/2013 15:16

lovely, not livelyBlush

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 15:25

I think I could be quite lively in that bra Wink.

I bought this in beige and this in black and almond on my last trip to R&P.

ihatethecold · 07/02/2013 15:33

What's the opinion of on wired bras?

I find the wire just digs in all the time on a wired braAngry

ihatethecold · 07/02/2013 15:34

Sorry I meant non wired brasBlush

soaccidentprone · 07/02/2013 15:39

this is pretty and goes up to a 40g

though I don't know what the fit is like

CelticPromise · 07/02/2013 15:46

ihate if the wire digs in, the bra is probably the wrong size or shape for you.

mypinkmonkey · 07/02/2013 15:52

My biggest problem with bras is that the straps slip off my shoulders. What causes that?

Ok thank you so I should be wearing a 32 not a 34. Just measured myself - 31 under and 35 over. Have tried 32 back before but felt very very tight - presumably it's meant to?!!

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:16

mypinkmonkey I'd say a 30 back (usually people who measure between sizes need to size down). I can't say what cup size as you haven't given your across bust measurement. However, if a 32 feels too tight it'll be because the cup you were trying was much too small.

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:17

Oops, yes you did give your measurement Blush.

Ok, try a 30DD and a 30D. You could also try a 32C and a 32D.

Read the info above about how to get the back size right before sorting the cup.

MrsKoala · 07/02/2013 16:22

All the bras I see and love are never made in my size. Does any of you bra gurus know of NICE, even sexy, bras which are not black or white, or sports bra looking, which have big backs and small cups and no underwire?

Size 40a

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:26

Are you absolutely positive you're a 40a? It's just that I've never actually found anyone to be smaller than a b once properly measured and fitted.

A true A cup means that you have a 1" difference between your (tight) underbust and (loose) across bust measurements.

Apologies if you have got the correct size.

Try BraStop and Figleaves for bra ideas. Ebay is also a good bet for bargains.

mypinkmonkey · 07/02/2013 16:27

Ok many thanks Sorrel. Will go bra shopping!! By the way where does everyone recycle their old bras? Have quite a few!

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:28

I think Oxfam still do a bra collection scheme. Happy shopping.

MrsKoala · 07/02/2013 16:30

The problem I have sorrel, and I have spoken to you before about it on here so sorry for repetition, is that although I measure a bigger cup, all cups over an A ar baggy. If I go a tighter band I am so uncomfortable I can't move.

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:33

Ahh, yes, sorry, I thought I recognised your name. TBH, I still beleive that you need a smaller back and a bigger cup but it's more about finding the right style and brand for your shape. It's a tricky one and could take some time. Have you got any good independent shops near you?

MrsKoala · 07/02/2013 16:40

No, nothing. ATM I wear a stretchy one which is mat but adaptable. They do them in pink and burgundy and other colours. But they are very high on the chest so show under most tops and are very sports bra, Lycra. I want something feminine and lacy. Dh loves agent provocateur but only can get me pants which I then have to wear with a functional bra and no low cut dresses.

SorrelForbes · 07/02/2013 16:44

Hmmm, would you say your boobs are fuller on the bottom? If that's the case then you need to stick to balcony styles anyway.

soaccidentprone · 07/02/2013 16:50

this is lacy

I think sometimes you have to 'bed in' a bra before it becomes comfy?
