To find baby photos like this slightly disturbing?

Hmm

They look so unnatural; the babies have obviously been manhandled into many of these 'cute' poses. I'm seeing more and more of these - newborn on its front, supposedly propping its head up with its hand, usually with a ghastly colour popped flower stuck on its head.

Just bleurgh.

And fecking DM was only link I could get to work.

One of them looks like a monkey nut :o

CloudsAndTrees · 15/01/2013 23:23

I think some of them are cute in a wierd sort of way. I don't think I'd be comfortable doing it with one of my babies though.

Porkster · 15/01/2013 23:24

I have had newborns. Perhaps they were not as advanced as others, but they never winsomely propped their own heads up with their hands, not once.

I like the monkey nut one!

I think they are fairly inoffensive TBH.

bedmonster · 15/01/2013 23:26

I think they're super cute! Love the one of the twins Smile

TheBrideofMucky · 15/01/2013 23:26

I think they are sweet. Wish I had more photos of mine as newborns.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 15/01/2013 23:27

I don't think it's a big deal, they're clearly comfortable or else they wouldn't still be asleep.

AnnieLobeseder · 15/01/2013 23:28

They do look very posed, but then, professional photography usually is, not matter what age the subject.

Piemother · 15/01/2013 23:29

I think they are gorgeous. Wish I could get I of dc2, currently snoring on my chest Grin

ZooAnimals · 15/01/2013 23:29

I think they're cute. The babies all look fairly relaxed so as long as they haven't sedated them I think we can assume they didn't mind. Newborn babies I've known tend to let you know when they're unhappy about something.

My favourite thing is how they've included the picture of the woman in amongst all the baby pictures.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 15/01/2013 23:29

they're pretty ghastly, i think. i'm sure i've seen photos online where you can still see the hands of the photographer's assistant coming into shot to hold up the wee things' heads.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 15/01/2013 23:30

I like them better than the flower pot/ basket/ Victorian sepia ones

SquinkiesRule · 15/01/2013 23:30

I quite like them, a few of my friends did ones similar with their newborns, once they were deep asleep.

Theicingontop · 15/01/2013 23:30

I actually read your title as 'To find baby potatoes like this slightly disturbing?'

I was ready for a wonky veg thread Confused

Yabu! I wish I'd had the sense and energy to organise a photo shoot for DS when he was newborn. Then again he never slept anywhere but on my boob so it would have been far less cute than those.

TraineeBabyCatcher · 15/01/2013 23:30

Probably no more man handled than being passed from relative to relative, or during a clothes change.

They're odd unnatural positions but they are cute.

My 4 all were huge and fat faced and looked like Churchill. But lovely to me!

As do all newborns to their parents

All I see from those photos is sleepless nights and shitty nappies and kids not mine so not at all interested or gooey.

Wierd...

Jojobump1986 · 15/01/2013 23:33

Is it awful that I can't stop laughing at them?! They're just so ridiculous! Why would someone want a photo of their LO squished into a weird hanging thing? How on earth do they get them to stay asleep throughout all that? It's really tickled me! Grin

Porkster · 15/01/2013 23:33

I'm sure they are comfortable; it's the incongruous positions that I find disturbing.

One of the mums at school has reinvented herself as a baby photographer. I'm obliged to like her on Facebook. But she has hundreds of these black-and-white pictures of naked babies resting on their hands with flowers on their heads.

All the comments are 'awwww sooo cute', whilst I'm thinking 'no! They're weird!'

Might be just me.

I think they are lovely. I've also never known a newborn to do something they didn't want to without screaming so I think it's safe to say they don't mind.

I also love the headbands Blush

Jojobump1986 · 15/01/2013 23:34

Come to think of it, DS1 looked just like a monkey... We could have a 'monkey in a monkey nut' picture! Grin

PickledInAPearTree · 15/01/2013 23:34

Some of them are cute! Seems all the rage to take photos with hats on at the moment seen loads like this.

LuluMai · 15/01/2013 23:37

They're so cute!

LadyBeagleEyes · 15/01/2013 23:38

I think they're cute, but I prefer kitten pictures myself.
I only really fussed over my own ds when he was a newborn.
