Hmm

They look so unnatural; the babies have obviously been manhandled into many of these 'cute' poses. I'm seeing more and more of these - newborn on its front, supposedly propping its head up with its hand, usually with a ghastly colour popped flower stuck on its head.

Just bleurgh.

And fecking DM was only link I could get to work.

YANBU - I think they're pretty weird! My newborn would scream the house down if you tried any of this crap with him anyway, he hates being naked, and does what he likes with his arms thankyouverymuch.

Chopstheduck · 16/01/2013 08:05

Oh they are cute! They wouldn't still be asleep if they had been overly manhandled. I have some pics of my dts in a similar fashion, Anne Geddes type images that I took and I can promise the dts didn't mind in the least. Until they decided it was feed time.

Chopstheduck · 16/01/2013 08:07

Actually I've even got pics of dt1 scrunched up like that fallen asleep of his own doing! He often used to go to sleep on his arms like that.

Himalaya · 16/01/2013 08:08

When mine were little I was always trying to get photos of them when not asleep.

NC78 · 16/01/2013 08:14

They would be sceaming if they didn't like it.

They are probably really placid babies. Like my DS who you could just pop on his playmat and then find him asleep!

Sleepyfergus · 16/01/2013 08:22

Hmmm, I don't like them. Very artificial! ESP don't like the baby in a dish ones, it's like you keep them on your coffee table!

diddl · 16/01/2013 08:34

Too posed for me.

And the Anne Geddes-far too posed & can´t think of the word-artificial/twee/cutsie/naff?

Just bleurgh!

valiumredhead · 16/01/2013 08:37

Ooooooooo cute babies

FeckOffCup · 16/01/2013 10:16

I agree with Pandemoniaa, some of

FeckOffCup · 16/01/2013 10:20

shit, sorry, stupid tablet.

I agree with Pandemoniaa, some of them do look far too stiff and posed to be a real, living baby although now MumWithCamera has explained more about the supporting hands being removed with photoshop it's not so bad. Everyone I know with a new baby seems to have a photo of them on their front in a basket with a hat or flower on their head.

12ylnon · 16/01/2013 10:22

YANBU
I saw one on pinterest recently, so sad i didn't pin it, it was honestly one of the weirdest things i've ever seen.
It was a teeny baby lying on some camo fabric with a deers skull , a shot gun and some shot gun shells around it.... WHY THE HECK WOULD ANYONE THINK THATS CUTE!!

12ylnon · 16/01/2013 10:23

Oh god, and this one

CalamityKate · 16/01/2013 10:24

I think they're adorable and babies usually leave me cold!

FoxyRevenger · 16/01/2013 10:39

The worst ones I saw were of a friend's new son, in all the full-length photos of him you could see the big plastic clip on his umbilical cord. Boak!!

BartletForTeamGB · 16/01/2013 10:41

I really don't like them. They seem to be done by the same sort of photographers who do Quirky Wedding Photos with fake lips and moustaches and jaunty angles.

There's a description of how they do these shots here

Fakebook · 16/01/2013 10:59

They have pictures just like that on the walls in our maternity hospital, and I quite like them. So YABU.

They're heavily posed but very cute

VitoCorleone · 16/01/2013 11:10

Aw they're cute!

flipflopper · 16/01/2013 11:14

I thought you were going to put a ghastly one, posing in a flower pot, suitcase, etc, but these ones are so cute!

I got some done when my baby was a week old. It was for a favour for a friend to get some photos for her portfolio, so I got them for free, but I was there 3 hours while she faffed around. They make the room really warm, and take time to get the baby asleep and comfy. The babies are supported by people holding them from under the blankets.

Im sure they will look naff in a few years though, just like this does now!

pumpkinsweetieMasPudding · 16/01/2013 11:16

I must admit they are cuteSmile
Not sure whether i'd have been comfortable posing any of my newborn dcs in the same way though.
Surely it isn't good for their necks & spine..

Splinters · 16/01/2013 11:21

urgh no, never liked Anne Geddes and I don't like these. The twins' arms make them look like they've got tangled up with an octopus!

thesnootyfox · 16/01/2013 11:49

I think they are cute.
