to ask how many people you told about your pregnancy BEFORE the 12 week stage?

How many people did you tell before the 12 week scan?
Was it just your partner / your Mum or did you tell friends as well?

Who did you tell?

I told everyone pretty much as soon as I found out. I was about 7 weeks ish

First time round, no-one apart from DH.

Second time round I told dH and an optician when I had an eye test and they asked the general health questions.

I told my partner and my best friend straight away. The friend because it was unplanned and I needed support and advice. I then told my immediate family (parents and siblings) about a week later. I was only about 6 weeks pregnant but was admitted to hospital so felt they needed to know at that point.

My mum, dad, sister, aunt and grandma.
My DH's mum, dad and brother.
My boss because I was really struggling at work.
One friend who was also TTC (and she told me before the wee was even dry on her POAS).

I told everyone. Or rather I told my mum who leaked like a sieve (as I knew she would). :o

Dp and my family (mum, gran and sister)

Although with dd we were building a house and all the builders knew but politely pretended they hadn't noticed that I was throwing up all the time and was green each morning on site. When we announced it they were all thrilled they'd been right and were so kind.

My mum, dad, bro. My bf of 30 years.
Mil, fil.
Only told these close people in case anything bad happened.
And obviously dh.

Mum and dad straight away, fertility issues and didn't think it would happen so had to share the joy. I had Hyperemessis so everyone new very quickly!!

Just my partner. And the actors I was working with at the time because I was so freaked out and distracted that I thought they should know why!

I am currently only something like 4+3 weeks pg but have already told a couple of friends, mainly because they knew we were trying and were a bit suspicious that I wasn't drinking. I've also told online friends but it feels like they don't 'count'! I will tell my parents, my PILs, and my other best friends before the 12 week mark. Basically anyone who I would tell anyway if I had a miscarriage, so I might as well tell anyway - plus I am rubbish at keeping secrets.

We told everyone the day we had the 12th week scan, my friend just knew i was, i did discuss it with someone at work, about symptoms.

1st time just DH, 2nd time DH & IL as she cared for DD when we went for scan.

first pg, my mates, mum knew before 12 weeks

and the second time round I had an early scan at 8 weeks so knew then.

My boss about 7/8 weeks (very sick)
My parents, siblings and PIL around 9 weeks (Christmas)
Friends we had Christmas dinner with
A friend around 8 weeks (wasn't drinking at her birthday and she guessed)
A couple of other friends at 10 weeks (NYE - also not drinking)

Announced it officially after the scan though.

We told close family at 6 weeks. I had a scan at what we thought was 12 weeks, but I was only 9 weeks. We told everyone else then, as I could show off the pic!

Everyone. I tried so so hard not to - just close family but then it was close friends, then not-so-close-friends and by about 7 weeks with DC1 even our letting agent knew. I was so excited I couldn't keep quiet. I did want to tell people that I would want to tell if I miscarried but then it spiralled.

On the other hand I have never referred to my pregnancies on Facebook.

I told virtualy everyone. Partly because I have a job in which I have to lift large heavy objects but mainly because I'm crap at keeping secrets.

No-one except DH obviously. Oh, actually, with DD3 I told my boss at about 11 weeks, as he called me into his office to plan our staffing needs for the next year, and was chatting on about taking on some inexperienced staff as I could train them. It just wasn't fair not to say...Grin

Found out I was pregnant a couple of weeks before we got hitched. Not exactly unplanned but wasn't amused at the timing! Thankfully was quite a small wedding but by the end of the day everyone knew! Then there was my brother's wedding and Christmas - all before 12 weeks.

Everyone at around 6 weeks. I had to tell close friends and family as I had to start active treatment for my illness while off medication and they may have thought it was a step backwards health wise rather than something planned.

With this one, DH and mumsnet when we found out. Then DH told his mum and dad at 10 weeks, then his work, then pretty much everyone he knew. Currently 14 weeks and I've only told a few people. I've got my anomaly scan in feb so will probably tell my family after that and then announce on facebook.
