I don't think the pilot episode is anywhere near as good as most of the others. It doesn't make sense in relation to the others either. I just can't see Sheldon thinking that he might donate sperm to get cash, or at least I'm trying not to picture what that might look like!

Yeah the sperm donation stuff makes no sense, especially when Sheldon specifically says about self massage that it seems like a "lot of unnecessary touching"

I guess the characters evolve over the course of the series and you have to forgive little inconsistencies like that.

I agree that the pilot doesn't really make sense. Especially the bits with Sheldon saying that Penny is attractive or whatever.

I'm still jury out on Leonard and Penny. I agree with the earlier post - she needs to assert herself in her own right. If she's going to stay with Leonard, she needs to value him more.

I absolutely love Amy and Bernadette. I don't think it would have kept the humour and moved the story lines forward so well without them :)
