I love BBT. I don't love Penny and Leonard.

My dd is quirky like sheldon but not quite as clever it drives us mad sometimes DH has just got into it and sheldon will say a sheldonism and dh just points at dd1

Penny is bored, unfulfilled in her career and drifting. Leonard is just convenient, although the snowflake thing was genuinely romantic.

One day she will achieve something in her own right and will no longer need Leonard. She will move on and he will find someone who loves and admires him for himself.

I think though that Penny is a good character in her own right, but Leonard is dull and majorly upstaged by the other males who are funnier, quirkier and more interesting. Leonard's character needs the Penny storyline, but I think it drags her down and I prefer her scenes with others.

Yes, yes to Raj becoming a ladies man, got a little crush on him myself. Lesley is not a regular character because apparently the writers couldn't come up with enough stuff for her. Which is a shame because she was a realistic female scientist IMHO. The actor who plays Leonard also played her husband in Rosanne. Haven't really thought about if I want Leonard/Penny long term, I guess you are all right that she's a bit rubbish to him but sometimes the nice guy wins because life with them is easier. I'm more interested in who Ted will end up with in HIMYM, TBBT is just such a joy to watch I'm less worried about the soap opera parts of it.

I've love Simon Helberg (Howard,) he's an incredible comedian and very, very smart. My favourite Howard episode is the one where Raj starts dating Penny's friend who's deaf and uses Raj as an interpretor. Simon Helberg signs ASL like he's been doing it for years but apparently he just learned it in a few weeks specifically for that episode. He didn't just learn the lines, but picked up enough to talk to the actress in between scenes.

He's also v musical

You haterz are wrong- Leonard is utterly gorgeous, and obsessed with foreplay. Sigh. The trouble is when I was Penny's age, I wouldn't have appreciated him then either.

And the bit when he conjured up the whole world for Penny in his lab... fab.

I love Howard and Bernadette - sweet on one level but with a hint of menace.

Bernadette: Boy, I don't know if I could be friends with Howie if we broke up.
Howard: Why not?
Bernadette: I'm a very vengeful person.
Howard: Really?
Bernadette: With access to weaponized smallpox.

The scenes with Amy and Penny are much funnier than Penny and Leonard - there's not much more you can do with Penny/Leonard that hasn't already been done. But Amy mooning after Penny and Penny's mixture of squeamishness and being flattered is very funny and original.

Amy: I could see you easily fetching a goat (to bernadette)

I think Penny/Leonard has run his course. Also, I think Leonard has become a tiny bit more of a jerk as the show has gone on.

The others all have their niche. Leonard is supposed to be the sensible one and therefore doesn't have his fair share of the funny lines.

Studio 60 really was fab wasn't it? That's where I first saw Helberg, and then as Moist in Doc Horrible.

For the record, Raj is not gay. Neither is he going to turn into a ladies man. He's going to meet me when he's a bit tipsy & we'll fall in love & come up with a plan to keep him tipsy for the rest of forever. I'll start secretly swapping his booze for non-alcoholic versions & eventually tell him. Then he'll realise he doesn't need it & so I'll have cured him & we'll live happily ever after!

I'd like to know how Raj changed from the Miami Vice style of dress to the lumpen look he now favours. Pria should come visit him again, take him shopping, getting him dressing well; then with his increased confidence he could overcome his mutism ...

The storylines for that would be endless!

Amy is played by Mayim Balik, who was Blossom (for those who remember). After playing Blossom, she took a break, and did a degree and then a PhD in neuroscience. In an early episode of BBT (season 1, ep 13, fact fans) she is mentioned as an actress-turned-scientist. In the last episode of season 3 of BBT she turned up as a ....... doctor of neuroscience!

Lesley Winkle, the fellow scientist who has a fling (or two) with Leonard, is played by Sara Gilbert (sister of Melissa Gilbert, of Little House on the Prairie fame), who played Darlene in Rosanne. Dalene's long term boyfriend in Rosanne was played by Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard in BBT.

Don't ask me how I know all this - my mind is a pit of trivia.

I think in the last few episodes Penny has started to realise that actually there needs to be a bit more give and take in the relationship, rather than her doing all the taking. Theres a bit in the most recent Halloween episode where Bernadette has a dig at her.

With Sheldon and Amy, its the tiny little things that make you go Awwwwwwwwww, when he holds her hand when they're watching Howards rocket blast off.

I do love the idea of Penny and Sheldon getting it on but think of poor Amy, which one would she stalk???

Mary Cooper is played by Laurie Metcalf who played Jackie Harris in Roseanne.
