I don't get why they have to hang about - do your own shopping, go to a café, stay the fuck at home, anything!

I need DH when I'm shopping - despite his total indifference to buying clothes (even for himself) he gives very constructive criticism on what I choose and has a great eye for what will suit me. I would go so far as to say that he's the best shopping partner I've ever had. He does comment loudly on things he doesn't like though, sorry about that!

Don't understand the problem. I value my husband's opinion and he values mine. We've been shopping together for 25 years. Am I supposed to leave him at home? You'd think someone would have told me before now!

My husband is an excellent shopper! Been out today and got shoes and jewellery to go with a dress for NYE and if he tells me it looks good (or crap), he is usually right.

I rate my dh's opinion of clothing quite highly, he has much better taste than I do, and is able to steer me away from the more frumpish clothes that I may decide to buy.

Plus he carries the bags - totally invaluable

Omg DH would drive me nuts at the shops! He'd try to come up with something suitable to say about clothes, but he's so clueless he'd get it wrong and annoy me.

I value his opinion on everything apart from clothes shopping!

I like to go shopping WITH my DH. Round the men's and women's sections.

He's actually a decent judge of clothes and can pick out things for me as he actually interested and knows what suits me - you know like female friends stereotypically do. Or should we be banning female friends too as they also get in the way and slow the changing rooms down even more. There's nothing worse than women nattering together in the changing rooms and trying on the same things eight thousand times, in eight different combinations.

Going with my DH takes the stress out of shopping - he doesn't just trail around the shops, looking bored or carrying bags. Not to mention if I was on my own, I'd take three times as long and get in three times as many people's way.

Actually, thinking about it, I think we should just ban shops altogether and make everyone shop for everything online.

misread the title as 'Jewish men should stay away from women's sales sections' and thought that was a bit unfair, but wondered what they'd been up to...had a kind of 'orthodox father ted' image in my head...

Oh dear. I have to admit I hold jumpers up against DH to measure if they fit across his shoulders .

In our relationship, DH is the one who I have to follow around so he chooses something wearable. I go sales shopping for MY clothes by myself without DH and sprogs.

So I don't know if you're being u or not. I suppose all these women with men could go shopping alone, unless they're scared. Twirls can be done via Skype.

I take DP shopping. He has good taste. He sits on a chair (if provided) while I try stuff on, then tells me what he thinks when I come out of the cubicle. If I brought a female friend instead she'd do the same. So how is he in the way? You're probably joking but I'm grumpy.

Some men are great at shopping. Unfortunately mine isn't. He instantly morphs into Angry Mode within 20 feet of retail premises, if he's in a really good shopping mood he'll at best act like a 14 year old boy.

So how is he in the way?

Because he's in the shop.
