getting the way and loudly voicing opinions on said articles. even worse when the line up outside the changing rooms and the women come out and 'twirl' for them.

But if I brought a female friend, she'd be just as in the way, as she'd also be in the shop! So can I just not bring anyone at all?

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 29/12/2012 17:48

I go shopping alone, always. I don't need or want anyone else's views on my purchases.

mrsjay · 29/12/2012 17:51

I agree and great gaggles of people from one family (like an extended family outing) who stand in the way and won't let anyone else have a look.

My DH wouldn't go and I would rather go alone.

I am appaling when it comes to clothes shopping (I'm also a bloke). I wish I wouldn't fall directly into the stereotype, but I do.

I sulk, moan, look at my watch and generally hanker for the exit. I'm not sure if DP entirely understands my discomfiture as I seem to be in this position far too often. (At least 4 or 5 times a year)

TiggyD · 29/12/2012 21:35

Shock Won't somebody think of the transvestites!? Shock

They have to buy clothes too you know. Or do you want to insist they buy things full price when there's no sales on?

carlywurly · 29/12/2012 21:54

Totally agree, was saying exactly this today in town. The shops are busy enough without people who don't need or want to be there clogging them up.

I can't bear these "oh, aren't men daft!" threads. They make me gip.

AnnieLobeseder · 29/12/2012 22:03

Urgh, the though of shopping is bad enough. But the thought of dragging my poor DH with me? Why? How on earth it is anything less than cruel to make him come along, and I'm supposed to love the fella.

YANBU, OP.

It's online all the way for me.

victoriaplum01 · 29/12/2012 22:09

I love shopping with my DH. He gives it to me straight - if I try something on and it looks crap, he'll just say, "That looks crap - it makes your legs/bum/tummy look fat." No sugaring the pill from him. By the same token, if he likes a few outfits that I try on and I'm uming and ahing over them, he eggs me on to buy all of them and takes great pleasure in 'paying' even though it comes from our joint account. Old fashioned, but sweet.

ShellyBoobs · 29/12/2012 22:36

I hate seeing men in the underwear sections of stores

Is it ok for women to be in the men's underwear section?

MoomieAndFreddie · 30/12/2012 11:10

i pine for the days when DH used to come shopping with me, in the early days we were together, and he would love every minute cos he was completely lovesick and lust drunk and i could do no wrong, he even found clothes shopping with me enjoyable

:(

Binkybix · 30/12/2012 11:19

I don't mind them unless they're just trailing after someone else getting in the way of the rails because they've been made to go along. Then it's irksome.

GreatCongas · 30/12/2012 11:41

I would never buy anything if my dh wasn't there saying 'it looks good, but it'

The person I most like to shop with though is my brother who has fantastic taste but also knows me really well

Would prefer to take him than any female friend

GreatCongas · 30/12/2012 11:43

Having said that I hate shopping so the sales are my worst nightmare even though they're the only way I might possibly afford clothes. So I just don't buy anything

freddiefrog · 30/12/2012 12:04

My DH loathes shopping and I hate shopping with him. We last about 30 minute before having the first row.

He has his 'shopping walk' where he does this weird flicking thing with his feet rather than his normal walk and it gives me the rage.

I never take him shopping, sometimes I want a quiet mooch around the shops without listening to him moan about how bored he is and doing the weird foot flicky thing

scottishmummy · 30/12/2012 12:06

of course I don't shop with dp.we'd kill each
I pay for and carry my own shopping thanks.don't need a man traipsing about
its this new fangled liberation thing you carry and pay for your own shopping, you should try it

MoomieAndFreddie · 30/12/2012 12:06

LOL freddiefrog thats hilarious!! :o

alemci · 30/12/2012 12:15

also if I ever take my DH with me he hovers and I wish he'd go away and meet up later. I can't think with him one step behind me. On the whole women tend to browse whereas men want to be in and out and grab something quickly.

scottishmummy · 30/12/2012 12:22

I'm presuming the man buys his own clothes, and is dragged about whilst wife selects?
I buy my children clothes as they are too wee to do so
but hell I'd expect an adult to select own clothes, and not have wee wife/hubby chose

TheCrackFox · 30/12/2012 12:28

I don't really like shopping with anyone TBH.

The last person on the planet I would shop with would be DH. As soon as he steps foot in a clothes shop he tranforms into a truculent 4 yr old - infact I would rather go shopping with a 4 yr old because at least you can bribe them with the promise of a hot chocolate if they behave themselves for 20 minutes.

littleladyindoors · 30/12/2012 13:16

I don't shop without my DH, he is great, gives me cconfidence. He does however have a habit of wandering off when I am in the changing room so I have to come out probably wearing a dress and socks and shouting like a mad woman to find him!!!
He also lives to practise his harrassed husband (patent pending) look, which has to also include a couple of shopping bags for maximum effect.
