Ok so we went to The Panto last night which wasn't a cheap night out with the tickets costing £100 + for 4 of us.

We were sat 4 seats in with a family of 4 occupying the end 4.

The Father of other the family preceded to lift his DS aged about 10/11 over the seats (spare) to the row in front so he could get a better view and was now sat directly in front of my DP.

This child then spent the entire performance jumping up and down on the seat in front, shouting loudly for sweets, flapping arms, banding his head with his shoes which he'd taken off and generally distracting everyone around him. To give the father credit he did repeatedly tell the child to shut up /sit down and threaten him etc.

Although My experience of ASD is quite limited, I'm assuming the boy was on the Autistic spectrum and although the panto is a family performance and I expect to be disturbed by kids needing a wee, rustling sweets etc AIBU to be pissed off with our evening be ruined especially seeing the boy could have been seated on the end of the aisle where he would have disturbed others less ?

Thanks junkie but it's par for the course round here... There is a small to medium contingent of bigots who cannot tolerate these pesky defective kids and their entitled parents.

threesocksfullofchocs · 29/12/2012 22:29

have to say I am so glad thread has not been deleted.
I think the decent people on mn. and there are loads, need to see the bigots for what they are.

Glitterknickaz · 29/12/2012 22:30

Margey

Er...what part of saying an autistic child is being deliberately naughty is not going to offend people,do you think?

The Dad may well have been telling the boy off because he felt user pressure to do so because of tutting wankers. That in turn could have been making the boy worse. There would have been a good reason on the dads part for seating the boy in front of him. Maybe he finds it uncomfortable to be physically surrounded by people?

If the OP had concentrated on the pantomime not the boy she may well have found he wasn't being that disruptive. But no...she was gawping at the boy the entire time.

threesocksfullofchocs · 29/12/2012 22:33

right back at you, don't post in AIBU unless you want to be told you are
bigots are aways BU

Glitterknickaz · 29/12/2012 22:33

Oh and Margey who made you forum police? Who do you think you are telling anyone where they can and can't post?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 29/12/2012 22:34

THis has been an eye-opener, that's for sure. Live and let live. I get a lot of joy out of kids - NT and nott NT - enjoying themselves.

AmberLeaf · 29/12/2012 22:34

The child described in the post wasn't a severley disabled child enjoying themselves, but 'on the autistic spectrum', and being pretty much deliberatley disruptive

So an autistic child does it on purpose?

You feel their behavior is willful?

You need to go away and learn about autism.

5madthings · 29/12/2012 22:35

I think glitter is swearing because this is her life. She has to put up with ignorant biggots judging her and her children every fucking day. And this happens again and again on mnet, the disabled can have rights as long as it doesn't impact on others. Well fuck that for a barrel of laughs but people with son's do not and should not have to hide away for fear of upsetting others.

*not son's in meant sn's but my nexus is auto correcting.

Glitterknickaz · 29/12/2012 22:36

Ooh get me. Naughty girl.
Mind you I am one of those scammers who wilfully bred more than one defective child.

SauvignonBlanche · 29/12/2012 22:36

"I genuinely haven't meant to offend anyone. I just think whatever happens, i would be pissed off if i'd paid for a ticket and a parent allowed their child to disturb the performance"
I dread to think what you'd say if you tried to be offensive.Angry
