I so am getting old...

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:27

But you had it! I gave you love. But you asked me to leave and I left.

Oh Danny why did you mess it all up? Sad

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:31

Yay Sparkling. I was quoting the film. I love that film.
The casting and dialogue and Rob's arse are FABULOUS.
You know it was based on a play?
Sexual perversity in Chicago.

LeeCoakley · 28/12/2012 20:31

But really, would a 15 year old girl in the 50s know about sexy moves like in that deleted scene? Dd3 is 15 and, well, I am having trouble imagining her in a matching bra and pants set let alone knowing how to arouse a 30 year old man. I loved it when I was younger but now as a parent of teenage dds I have pursed lips about the relationship. Love the music though. Hungry Eyes is my favourite.

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:31

I refuse to go out with a man whose ass is smaller than mine. ;)

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:32

Wiki says Baby is meant to be 17 not 15

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:33

I didn't want them to split up though Schnapps, it was perfect, then it all went wrong. Sad Yes, I thought it based on a play.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:37

Got to love Joan Schnapps-

Joan: 'And the Virgin Mary descended upon... '
Kid #1: What's a virgin?
Joan: A virgin is someone who's never had sex.
Kid #2: What's sex?
Joan: Sex is something men and women do to make a baby.
Kid #3: Are you a virgin?
Joan: No.
Kid #3: Do you have a baby?
Joan: No. People who don't want babies also have sex.
Kid #3: What for?
Joan: For about 10 or 15 minutes.

Grin

TBF that dry humpy stuff is just the moves from their dance routine much slowed down and with more hip contact. With Patrick swayze no problem for a 17 year old.

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:44

Tis is my room mate Joan. She specializes in unsolicited attacks. :)

I love Joan. Although her clothes are about 40 years too old for her. That night gown,my God.

Binkyridesagain · 28/12/2012 20:45

Watched it again, I now know the secrets to a long marriage Grin

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:46

But Danny needed to grow up and start a diner and be an adult instead of a shagging salesman with no self respect or respect for women.

I blame Bernie for Danny being a twat.
Although he came good in the end and stopped fighting the inevitable.
Danny being a stalker in the rain was very 24 year old behaviour.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:49

Danny was gorgeous. He is the benchmark I keep for gorgeous men. Rob Lowe circa 1985. Wink

sasamaxx · 28/12/2012 20:49

I see all the teen 80s movies Nd raise you 'the sure thing' - defo the best f them all I.think

SchnappsDamnYou · 28/12/2012 20:50

'Two nights a week I cook. Two nights a week he cooks.

Two nights we go out. And then there's sandwich night.'

'I bet your sex life is a real thrill.

Two nights a week you're on top. Two nights a week he's on top.

So what is it you do on sandwich night?'

Lol Joan

sasamaxx · 28/12/2012 20:52

arrrgghhh sorry about the ridic autocorrect/typo disaster above.
'the sure thing' must be one of the beat 80s teen movies.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:52

Me and DH used to have 'soup night' Schnapps. Grin

sasa I have never seen that. Shock Better than St Elmo's Fire, and About Last Night and Pretty In Pink? Shock

sasamaxx · 28/12/2012 20:55

omg sparkling it is so woefully underseen. no idea why. john cusack is beautiful in it

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 20:56

I may have to investigate sasa. DH's is 'Some Kind of Wonderful' and I don't think I have seen that either.

Chubfuddler · 28/12/2012 20:56

Did someone say John cusack? My klaxon just went off

Oh mamma.

sasamaxx · 28/12/2012 20:59

you must all now watch thus film - I challenge anyone not to love it. you will be sooooooo in love with him by the end. it is also witty and clever and really funny. oh and it has her out of desperate housewives in it too

NiniLegsInTheAir · 28/12/2012 21:02

That deleted scene from DD annoys me. All that lovely slow dry humpy stuff and then they switch to good ol' missionary at the end? Talk about anti-climax. Wink

Personally, I'd love to have Baby's dad as my own - wish mine would have given me £250 just for 'asking'. Sad

RedTinsel · 28/12/2012 21:06

Say Anything was on and I've missed it Sad

In DD I don't think Johnny was supposed to be in his 30's, I thought he was supposed to be just a couple of years older.

I love 80's films, the Sure thing is brilliant. I love John Cusack.

Chubfuddler · 28/12/2012 21:08

I've just Wiki'ed it.

Anthony Edwards is in it? As in goose in top gun? How don't I know about this film? I believe I may be the only teenage girl ever to fast forward top gun to get to goose bits.

ChristmasIsForPlutocrats · 28/12/2012 21:31

Speaking of the shattering of teenaged idolatry, what about Patrick Swayze's future, playing a paedophile in Donnie Darko?!

sasamaxx · 28/12/2012 21:48

LOL chubfuddler that's the one - I am always amazed at how few people have seen such an amazing film
