AIBU That Mumsnet won't allow any discussion on the Sally Roberts case?

There's something about her that is media hungry - if she hasn't sold her story to a tabloid or glossy mag in the next week then I'll take it back. But more importantly, WHY is Mumsnet towers deleting any threads discussing the case?

OP posts:

@MrsDeVere, I'm sorry to hear your suffering. Would you have gone into hiding with your child against the advice of your DH and the whole medical profession sparking a massive police hunt, then sold your story for tens of thousands to a national newspaper, or would you have kept your quiet dignity?

No, Zealy What would you fucking do? come on, facing the same choice what would you do? Truth is you don't know, you don't so why are you trying to sound like you would do so much better in this situation, like others have said, very easy when you're sitting comfy with healthy kids.

Sirzy · 22/12/2012 19:55

A lot of parents would shout out and speak out against doctors if they didn't feel what they were saying was right for their child, why should this woman keep quiet if she believes in her argument?

MolehillAlchemy · 22/12/2012 19:57

If the treatment is successful, then I'm sure she'll be grateful that decision was taken out of her hands.

If the treatment is not successful, then she will live with the horror of this terrible situation for the rest of her life.

She's fighting for what any mother feels they have the fundamental right to do - decide on the best thing for their child.

I have nothing but admiration for Sally Roberts. Also for the doctor's who fought for this boys life, and for the judge who had to make the decision.

TandB · 22/12/2012 20:02

OP, why are you asking MrsDV what she "would" have done?

Did you miss the fact that she actually did have to make these decisions?

This isn't a hypothetical situation for several people on this thread - it is real and they know what it feels like to have a seriously or terminally ill child.

Perhaps try actually listening to what they are saying.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/12/2012 20:10

gandkslater that is an idiotic thing to say

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 22/12/2012 20:12

OP is an insensitive (understatement) fucking [insert more appropriate foul words]

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/12/2012 20:14

pessarypam look at you all judgy don't hoick your judgy pants higher dear they'll swallow you

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/12/2012 20:16

zealey you too dear.
How dare you ask mrsdevere a hypothetical question of the type that's really not all that hypothetical for her?

Greensleeves · 22/12/2012 20:21

Zealey I am stunned by your arrogance and lack of feeling

How DARE you interrogate somebody who has been through things you could't conceive in your worst nightmares Angry

What on earth is it that makes you feel entitled to decide what is an appropriate reaction to the most devastating news a parent can receive? "Quiet dignity"?!? You have no fucking heart at all

Just go away. Please.

Pagwatch · 22/12/2012 20:23

It takes an extraordinary level of stupidity arrogance to dismiss the experience of someone who has actually lived through what Sally Roberts is dealing with, in order to hold on tightly to your vile judgements tabloid ibformed judgements.

Argh this thread makes me feel sick.

No wonder threads on this subject get deleted- they descend into madness with lots of unwanted/ and sometimes awful opinions.
