AIBU That Mumsnet won't allow any discussion on the Sally Roberts case?

There's something about her that is media hungry - if she hasn't sold her story to a tabloid or glossy mag in the next week then I'll take it back. But more importantly, WHY is Mumsnet towers deleting any threads discussing the case?

please do not ban me, delete me but please no bans, it is Christmas after all

Peace and love to almost everyone

I can't begin to understand what this family are going through but I would use every medical initiative open to me if (god forbid, touch wood, etc) I ever had to make these decisions for my DS. I can't understand her argument about her various worries about possible side effects. Surely she'd prefer to have him alive with side effects than dead which appears to be almost guaranteed without treatment sadly? Sad

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 22/12/2012 21:22

Oh perfectly calm that was just a small test, must go wrap some gifts now and erm.. yes I lied I must calm down and hide this thread!

AlienRefucksLooksLikeSnow · 22/12/2012 21:28

Yes, but mini there's arguments to say, he will die anyway, it's how he goes she wants control over

Greensleeves · 22/12/2012 21:30

Oh fgs

as you say, you can't understand her argument. So why pontificate about how you would do it differently? Does it make you feel like a better mother?

Biscuit at this thread now. Enough.

Zealey · 22/12/2012 21:30

@wankinginwinter. I pity you, I sincerely do

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 22/12/2012 21:31

I don't think you are capable of pity tbh

leaving now...really...

MurderOfGoths · 22/12/2012 21:32

mini Except the options seem to be more likely that it's either
a) Treatments + side effects = slightly delayed death
b) No treatment = no side effects + slightly quicker death

Not so clear cut is it?

Don't judge how this woman comes across on TV until you've had to walk into the Royal Courts of Justice with all the flashbulbs going, having spent the night before being telephoned by 1000 journalists and the week before being followed around constantly and having your name called out so people can get a picture.

What looks like smiling or smirking can be a paradoxical laughter reaction to the sheer embarrassment and lunacy of suddenly being the centre of a storm of media attention and a desperate attempt not to come across as loony or nasty or whatever. Until you've stood on the sidelines and watched the whole circus descend on somebody you just can't know what it's like, or how you or others would react. And that's before even factoring in the fact she's frightened to death for her child.

RowanTheRedNosedMumsnet · 22/12/2012 21:40

Evening all.

We're reluctant to delete another thread about this situation: it does seem likely that another one will pop up in its place, and the posters on here who have relived unimaginably painful experiences in order that the rest of us can come to some understanding of this case might end up feeling that they have to do it again.

Which would be a pretty bad outcome.

So we're minded to leave this for now; we understand that lots of people want to discuss this case. We do need you all to cut out the personal attacks though, please - and that includes attacks on a mother who, while she may well not be an MNer, is going through something utterly awful right now.

Greensleeves · 22/12/2012 21:44

That is a good point about having to do it all over again, I suppose.

You could hack out some of the uglier bits though. Including some of mine I suppose

WankinginaWinterWonderland · 22/12/2012 21:44

ZEALY

Save it please, try muster up some for those worthy, I have enough self pity for myself thank you, you could have apologised for your comments but no........

I have no more words for you

TabithaMcKitten · 22/12/2012 21:47

I did wonder if perhaps she has sold her story in order to try and retain some control over the media? At least this way she hasn't got endless journalists harassing her for her story.

May I respectfully suggest, Zealey, that you ought to be banned. In my opinion. Not still here offering forgiveness to people you have hurt. Angry

Remember poor Kate Mcann? She was also torn to bits in the press/ignorant public for not acting like a Mother should in that situation??!! Beggars belief it really does.

Pagwatch · 22/12/2012 21:57

Zealey

I think your idea of what is disgusting is probably not of much interest to most of us.
Your postings on here have been crass, arrogant and monumentally insensitive.
Either you don't understand that or you don't care.
Neither of which makes you best placed to admonish another poster.

LadyBeagle, telling posters to fuck off is against the Talk Guidelines (it counts as a personal attack) and will always be deleted when it's reported to us (unless we can see it's not meant seriously).
