I've got plans you see and wanted to schedule them around the apocalypse. You'd think the Mayans would have narrowed it down to a time slot wouldn't you? Like delivery drivers?

My sisters 13th birthday, atleast wait and let the girl have her day, she didnt make 13 years just for the world to end, how thoughtless.

D0oinMeCleanin · 20/12/2012 10:35

11:11am universal time. What time is that is UK time?

LineRunner the Mayans had heaps of calendars and date worky outer thingys. Some of which go well beyond the predicted life span of the planet itself. The Mayan calenders will outlive the world Grin

HipHopOpotomus · 20/12/2012 10:36

Well it is 'tomorrow' in NZ at about 11am today, so I'm expecting the ending any moment now. Just getting a last cuppa in. Xmas Grin

chickensaresafehere · 20/12/2012 10:36

I'll be out giving my girls cube(chucks house) a good Christmas clean out.
I can think of worse ways to go . . . . . .

FoxyRevenger · 20/12/2012 10:36

I think it's due to end somewhere around Extremely Fecking Unlikely O'clock. Grin

HoopaPoop · 20/12/2012 10:37

If he's involved the world will self destruct just to shut him up

juneybean · 20/12/2012 10:37

10.12pm I think as then it will be 22.12 21.12 2012

LineRunner · 20/12/2012 10:38

DOoin I get the feeling that some of the Mayans didn't get out much.

APOCALYPTIC DELIVERY SERVICE

Dear Earth

We tried to deliver your Apocalypse today but you were out, it wouldn't fit through the letterbox

We
will try to redeliver
have left it at the depot awaiting collection
have left it with your neighbours at Mars

iworemyfringelikerogermcguinns · 20/12/2012 10:40

juneybean somewhere, someone will be doing a soundcheck

22.12 21.12 2012

that is the sound of the apocalypse

LineRunner · 20/12/2012 10:40

What about leap years? Are they factored into this Speilbergian scenario (with Macca soundtrack)?

AndiMac · 20/12/2012 10:40

It reminds me of a Canadian joke that requires a bit of explanation.

Canada has 5 and a half time zones. Newfoundland, the eastern most part, is half an hour ahead of the next time zone because it's so far east. So things like the news on TV would say "News at 10. 10:30 in Newfoundland".

So the joke is a picture of a man holding a sign saying:

"THE WORLD WILL END A MIDNIGHT!! (12:30 in Newfoundland)"

SirCliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 20/12/2012 10:41

Hey chickens, I just got my dd some cubes for Christmas. I turned them on to see what it was all about and one of the little bastards farted at me!

So, it is today or tomorrow? Cause now I'm confused.

If it's today, surely we'd kind of see the planet coming hurtling towards us by now. In fact, even if it's tomorrow we'd kinda see the planet.

Or is it like waiting for the bus? There's not one for ages and then 3 of the buggers all come out of nowhere.

And since it's Christmas will the 4 horsemen be riding reindeer instead?

OP posts:
AndiMac · 20/12/2012 10:41

AT midnight of course.

Honest to god, I can tell a joke, just can't type it.

missrlr · 20/12/2012 10:41

Well allegedly it is 11.11 - but presumably Mayan time which roughly translates as 6 hours behind us so about 17:11 then - bugger just in time to have done the whole damn day at work and not enough time to get home for a stiff G&T

LineRunner · 20/12/2012 10:41

Ridonqulously funny Grin

juneybean · 20/12/2012 10:42

SirCliff on the movie, the earths crust sort of disintegrates, nothing to do with anything hurtling any where Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 20/12/2012 10:42

Twenty minutes left eh. Time for a coffee then.

Biscuit anyone?

Passes round the Bear

Grin
GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 20/12/2012 10:43

It'll be like obviously.

D0oinMeCleanin · 20/12/2012 10:44

No they didn't have leap years, they had 'unlucky' days instead.

I think they were unlucky because they couldn't work out how to get them to fit with season changes and astrological events, so they just plonked them on here and there and called them unlucky days Grin

LineRunner · 20/12/2012 10:44

Perhaps it's all just a metaphor for Macca singing Feels LIke Teen Spirit.

BoffinMum · 20/12/2012 10:46

This is pretty inconvenient as I don't know whether to go to Aldi or not.

PMSL at igotaway Grin

SirCliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 20/12/2012 10:46

So it's today then?
Just to get that clear? It's today and not tomorrow?

I shall therefore cancel all plans for tomorrow and crack open the wine - wahey!

SirCliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 20/12/2012 10:46

Will Danny Boyle be involved?
