To be fed up with jealous people who seem to hate anyone who has more money than them?

I seem to epitomise what some people hate - I live in a gated estate, drive a 4x4, am a SAHM and send my children to private school. Why does this mean that some people think this gives them a right to be rude to me or about the choices my family make? I would never look down on anyone who doesn't have or do what I do, so why is it ok to do it the other way round? I am so fed up with it! And you know the ones I really can't stand? Champagne socialists who think they are all left-wing with socialist ideals but are really just like me!

Op...I am pretty sure that no one you know gives the tiniest fuck about how much money I have or don't have.
And i think that goes for most people on MN too, including me.
Have a lovely Xmas

I'll bet she has swishy hair too. Money cannot buy swishy hair.

takataka · 17/12/2012 11:47

theo talking about family members who have died, and the relatives who have had to watch that happen is not usually referred to as;

trying to trump their side with your own extreme Hmm

people in the UK die in winter as a result of poverty. It is extreme, and it fucking trumps some vacuous woman gurning on about being hurt by peoples jealousy of her wealth and status

OP- luckily enough for me I am concentrating too much on my own life to worry about what others have/ don't have.

I mean, good on you for having everything you have and don't take it for granted. But seriously do you not think that others who aren't as lucky as you, maybe feel quite contented with their own lives? And that we learn to appreciate the smaller things in life.

Have a good Christmas and just remember: People Don't Give a Shiny Shit.

SoleSource · 17/12/2012 12:11

AmberSocks · 17/12/2012 12:35

to be fair to the op,there is a lot of reverse snobbery in rl and on forums.

OneWellAndTrulyCrackeredMummy · 17/12/2012 12:51

OP I think part of the problem is that in your original post you inherently appear to be looking down on everyone who doesn't live your lifestyle. Having a problem with people judging your choices is fine, not liking people being rude to you is also fine & these topics have appeared on here before.

The problem occurs when you list your possessions & that's what gets everyone's backs up as there's no need for it & it comes across as boasting. There are many people on here who live wealthy lives, there are also those on here who struggle for food & rent regularly & there are people like me who don't give an arse how you live & its not a reflection of your perceived importance.

Your tone is also aggressive & raises everyones' hackles.

To answer your original post yes these people are being unreasonable, but you are unlikely to get much sympathy on here with the attitude your're displaying.

I have an Argos rug and a glittery pink bedroom.

Ooooh I can afford a Christmas tree this yeat! Truly thought we could not. HA here.
