I seem to epitomise what some people hate - I live in a gated estate, drive a 4x4, am a SAHM and send my children to private school. Why does this mean that some people think this gives them a right to be rude to me or about the choices my family make? I would never look down on anyone who doesn't have or do what I do, so why is it ok to do it the other way round? I am so fed up with it! And you know the ones I really can't stand? Champagne socialists who think they are all left-wing with socialist ideals but are really just like me!

You are also making an error in assuming that others on this thread don't have what you do. I have a very nice lifestyle but don't feel the need to gloat about it when others are struggling.

I think they hate you because you come across as very money orientated and very stuck up. You don't know what I do, or don't, have btw so don't assume anything.

I'm afraid it's a form of inverted snobbery. You assume people don't like you because you think that you have something that they want. What about people who live on their own estate of thousands of acres and whose great grandparents went to private school and who fly their own helicopters? Do you think they would dislike you because of your possessions? No. They would dislike you because you're vain, shallow and silly and anyone with an ounce of breeding or just plain common sense wouldn't want to have anything to do with you.

There are lots of gated estates in the UK Lynette, fortunately not everyone who lives on them is a condescending twat though!

The last person I 'knew' on a chat forum who posted in this manner constantly...actually turned out to be a sad lady in a cramped, damp council flat halfway up a tower block.

Her 'millionaire' DH was actually found to be advertising himself as an unemployed housekeeper, looking for work on gumtree. But sadly for the poster, he used her email address that she'd put on the forum a couple of times before.

The shit hit the fan and she (to give her credit) admitted it was all a pile of bollocks and she was actually a manic depressive.
