To feel sorry for the Australian DJs?

Obviously more sorry for the nurse's family. I wonder how long she was having suicidal thoughts for? I can't think this could have been the only cause,

But these pranks have been going on for such a long time and those DJs could not have predicted such a result and are going to have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

It's such a tragedy and I feel very sad for all concerned.

Nancy spot on.

Last week, the villains of the piece were the nurses and the victim the DoC.

I don't think anyone would agree that ended well.

Enough hysteria. As someone just said, we don't know anything about the state of mind of anyone anyone involved.

This witch hunt is sickening.

"if it is established that JS did indeed kill herself, then she too had a choice in that"

Christ above PumpkinPositive you're all heart aren't you? you should be hanging your head in shame at such a fucking hideous post.

QuickLookBusy · 10/12/2012 09:49

Who has said they won't be happy until these two are found dead? Confused Are you referring to people on this thread?

QuickLookBusy · 10/12/2012 09:53

templerun your post is disgusting.

PumpkinPositive · 10/12/2012 09:53

Donnie

Whatever. If you think she had no choice in the matter, then that's up to you.

farandawaysheran · 10/12/2012 09:55

I don't think it's a hideous post, it is statements of fact.

Which at this point are necessary to stop the bandwagon mob mentality bating for retribution in the wrong place.

Neither of them sounded pleased with themselves, they sounded absolutely horrified.

We have moved from 'how could they, sack the nurses, the poor DoC' to 'I hope they rot in hell and never sleep again (on this very site) the poor nurse.'

I am truly scared by this mob mentality, especially having read last week's thread calling for the nurses to be brought to account.

helenthemadex · 10/12/2012 09:56

you deliberately misunderstood me Pumpkin

the DJ's had a choice to make the calls, and to play and replay the recording and to boast and gloat about their actions, with the victims of their prank being ridiculed and criticised

the nurses had no choice in that at all, they answered the calls and then had to face the consequences of that innocent action

I don't believe that the nurses would not be in serious trouble professionally, breaching confidentiality is a very serious disciplinary matter, and at this level no doubt about it a sackable offence

confidentiality rules

why! because I'm not on your side or because I pointed out the one thing that people are not... that the nurse left behind two children for something minor. She must of been sick for a long time before this happened and although it is sad I think people shouldn't be putting her on a peddle stool or blaming anyone else for her death.

helenthemadex · 10/12/2012 10:01

If it is established that JS did indeed kill herself, then she too had a choice in that. I don't think it does anyone any favours to suggest that she had no choice in the matter

the thing with suicide is that victims feel that there is absolutely no other choice, and no way out

I can not imagine having the whole word hearing me make a stupid mistake, being laughed at, people calling for my job, being disciplined and even the pity it must have been horrific for her

PumpkinPositive · 10/12/2012 10:02

You deliberately misunderstand me pumpkin

No, I didn't. I absolutely accept that they didn't have a choice in answering the calls (a senior consultant has apparently said the hospital were too "stingy" to employ night time receptionists.). What second nurse did after answering was a bit of a head puzzler but according to the hospital they were not going to be subject to sanctions (I know, believe that if you will!)

diddl · 10/12/2012 10:02

But at the very least when they did this they were what-hoping to make a fool of someone-get a laugh at someone´s expense?

TwinklingWonderland · 10/12/2012 10:02

Yanbu. I feel sorry for the DJs. It was a stupid prank, but they could never have foreseen the consequences. I think it should be left now.

templerun · 10/12/2012 10:03

helnthemadex

she was told by the hospital and the palace that no action would be taken.

LondonNinja · 10/12/2012 10:04

Wow. Appears there are some mind readers on here who know that the nurse coolly weighed up her distress (while living alone at the time and having plenty of time to worry herself silly without ANY support unlike the DJs) and her family.

Do you think she tossed a pair of dice to make a 'choice' between the two? Or is far more likely she felt so awful and low that she was mentally backed into a corner with NO choice apparent to her at the time she made that dreadful decision?

Walk a mile in someone else's shoes, some of you. Grow some compassion brain cells.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/12/2012 10:05

templerun, you can't possibly say that it was 'minor' because you weren't in this woman's head and don't know how it felt to her.

There may have been other factors that few or no other people knew about that contributed. Or she may have felt so appalled, ashamed, frightened, or any number of other emotions, that killing herself was the only option she felt she had.

FWIW, I think the radio station who went ahead and broadcast the call despite not obtaining permission were more to blame than the DJs themselves, but I did think the 'joke', even if it hadn't had any of these consequences, was unfunny and weak.

LtXmasEve · 10/12/2012 10:05

I hardly think that global humiliation is 'something minor'

Bad taste...

PumpkinPositive · 10/12/2012 10:05

i can not imagine having the whole word hearing me make a stupid mistake, being laughed at, people calling for my job, being disciplined and even the pity it must have been horrific for her

Except it wasn't even her, but the 2nd (unnamed nurse) who was coming in for the censure? And according to the hospital there were no plans to discipline either.

When the news was announced, I think most people assumed it was the 2nd nurse who had been found dead. I hope she is receiving proper support and not being hounded by the media for interviews. :(

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/12/2012 10:06

I x-posted with LondonNinja but I completely agree with 'walk a mile in someone else's shoes' before issuing judgement.
