Door bell goes and as im sat with ds on my knee feeding him i asked dp to get the door (secretly already knowing it was Jehovah's Witnesses), so off he goes thinking its his dad popped round.

He opened the door and was faced with 2 older gentlemen whose first words to him where " Hello, Can i ask do you have a question you'd like to ask god?"

My dp thought for a few seconds and goes, " yes, how can i get rid of this flu? Ive tried beechams and lemsips but nothing shifting it!"

The 2 men stood stoney faced and persuaded him to look into his sole for meanings of being unwell Hmm i could see them through the window and just couldnt stop laughing Smile

ivythat is just my point.

Many times people think they have had/seen JWs at their door, when its a totally different organization.

If you are not 'up' on the differences, its easy to get confused.

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:12

Oh yes go on, blame all the other organisations for the comments..

I know these were Jehovah's witnesses. You're in denial I'm afraid, its pretty sad.

MickeyTheShortOne · 11/11/2012 21:12

My my, what a bun fight this has turned into.

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:13

Witnesses all follow a very similar format when going door to door.

Almost word for word. All the examples I have heard today lead me to think they are not JWs that posters are talking about.

Witnesses are more offended by trousers in the Kingdom hall, more so, than how long your skirt is!

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:15

Look, they were JW. I don't care what you are 'led to believe'. They were, they told me so, they're known to be so and I know they attend the JW thing at the community hall. Whether they call it a 'kingdom hall' is irrelevant, its the community hall that all sorts of groups use.

Who do you think they were then?

ivykaty44 · 11/11/2012 21:16

I have never ever had a religious knocker at the door who has been up front and told me out straight

We are from this religious organisation.

They launch directly in to God this and what are your thoughts on this etc

Just as the op's dh had opened the door and the religious people launched into a

what question would you ask our god

They didn't say - we are from xxxx and part of xxxx and I thought it was part of there training to keep it secret until they can interest you - well i assumed they were taught to keep it secret

Thing is I don't care as to me it isn't of any consequence so I don't ask either.

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:18

ghost I'm in no denial. Confused

I'm not one, how no reason to be in denial.

What I really hate is brandishing silly comments about a certain group. Your comments today have made me Hmm

Although I don't agree with any of their teachings, I'll defend them if I hear Bull**about them.

I can't stand untruths about anyone/anything.

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:18

Right so me and Crikey are lying.

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 11/11/2012 21:18

Fake JW's?! Grin

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:20

Its not bullshit!!

How dare you call me a liar, seriously. You DONT KNOW. You cannot speak for ALL JW's.

They are not UNTRUTHS. Funny how you say that whilst you're accusing me of lying, which I'm not.

'silly comments' What, that one mentioned the shortness of my skirt?

Oh I forget, JW are incapable of saying anything stupid Hmm

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:21

There's jehovahs that have commited murder, yet you think them incapable of a stupid comment.

Or was that a fake one too?

poocatcherchampion · 11/11/2012 21:23

So say no thank you and shut the door. Do you need to be rude?

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:23

"JW thing" = I don't really know that much!

You asked who they could be, didn't you?

They could be any group, many 'churches' have adopted the witness style of preaching.

What I tried to convey earlier, is that no way would they let you know they were witnesses and then slam your skirt length. That goes against all they teach when going witnessing.Think about it...they are hardly going to catch any more fish like that, are they?

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 11/11/2012 21:24

This thread has turned mental Grin

There would be no gain from pretending to be a JW unless you had a fetish for wanting people to think you are a rude JW!

It's possible ghost Grin

ivykaty44 · 11/11/2012 21:25

Ghost and Crikey - I think Crikeys story was a bit far fetched, if it happened it happened but I did read it and think thats is a bit far fetched tbh, possibly it happened possibily it didn't.

But the crux of it is I think people have knocked on your doors or stopped you in the street but I doubt they have said to you we are JW, it just doesn't seem to ring true and I have heard somewhere about eating and trousers being upsetting to JW - odd that.

MickeyTheShortOne · 11/11/2012 21:27

Can i just point out that not ALL witnesses are "trained" the same? I happen to know a few myself too, feminine.
Just pointing out that some JWs would comment on clothing, paticularly if it offended them.
Also happen to know witnesses that give christmas presents to their children because their children are old enough to have decided they do not want to be a JW. Or are they counterfeit JWs? Grin

i think JWs are like any other believers. They all believe and will follow rules to their own degree, if you catch my drift.

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:27

ghostship calm down.

I'd hate to see the colour of your face right now.

Listen, JWs are all over the place in my family. Some of them have caused terrible pain to other members...some of them are quite lovely.

They are human, but they are all taught in the same way...

especially about how to conduct ones self in public.

taught = brainwashed

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:30

How can you tell me to calm down when you're accusing me of being a liar. I don't think so.

You're being hypocritical now. So you accept they can cause pain, they murder, they do any other crime that any none JW could do, BUT they couldn't possibly have commented on my skirt that morning.

Well they did.

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:30

micky that is quite true.

I'd agree that behind closed doors anything could be going on.

In public...not so much.

It so easy to mock and laugh at them, quote silly tales about how someone showed them their arse crack ~I just get tired with it.

JudeFawley · 11/11/2012 21:31

HAVE, not of.

Feminine · 11/11/2012 21:31

Ok ghost ship, I believe you.

IceAndSliceOfBrainsPlease · 11/11/2012 21:32

JWs turned up on my doorstep the other day, I was perfectly polite up until the point that one of them asked me 'Oh dear, do you not have any positive thoughts? in a manner. Then I may have become a little clenched and ordered them to never darken my door again.

GhostShip · 11/11/2012 21:33

Kindly don't patronise me.
