To ask how much you exercise and how often you eat naughty foods?

suzannajane80 · 07/11/2012 16:36

I try to exercise 4x week, with a session consisting of 45 minute gym or 5k run or equivalent.

I am really naughty and eat chocolate every day :o I try to eat healthy meals (jacket potato for lunch, something with salad for dinner, eat fruit etc) but I probably have one naughty meal (takeaway etc) per week

Is this normal / average?

WTF is a 'naughty' food??? Chocolate and takeaways are perfectly good foods eaten as part of a healthy diet... just something you don't eat in vast amounts every single day.

Frontpaw · 07/11/2012 16:39

Never and daily. Guess which is which??

suzannajane80 · 07/11/2012 16:40

By 'naughty' I mean something high in fat or sugar I guess. So sweets, cakes, chocolate, ice cream, takeaways, etc
I call them 'naughty' as eating them makes me feel naughty

now i walk 15 mins every day, zumba and one hour swimming once a week each as well as going to slimming world where there are no such things as naughty foods. suggest you keep an eye on your cholesterol and if you are youngish then bear in mind the menopause is a great leveller when it comes to all those women i have had to put up with all of my life who say they can eat anything and not put on weight Smile

Caerlaverock · 07/11/2012 16:41

Arf at naughty

BrandyAlexander · 07/11/2012 16:41

Exercise - 3 times a week. Food - what Cogito said.

Ephiny · 07/11/2012 16:41

Naughty foods? Hmm

I would say that amount of exercise is definitely above average, not that it should matter (the average UK person is very sedentary so not necessarily a useful benchmark).

Why do you ask? Are you concerned about your weight or fitness?

Lesbeadiva · 07/11/2012 16:41

I walk 5 miles every day and eat what I like...probably something tasty every day.

FatimaLovesBread · 07/11/2012 16:43

Naughty food? Hmm Biscuit

I ask because I am trying to work out if I am average or not. I don't worry about my weight (size 8, weigh 9 stone, 5 foot 7 tall) but I worry about health issues like diabetes and cholesterol a lot

chocolateshoes · 07/11/2012 16:45

I exercise 5/6 times a week - circuits usually for at least 30 mins. And my job involves a fair bit of running around. I eat really healthy meals (I think)- all home cooked, fish, fresh veg...no puddings.....and drink wine fri & sat. But I undo all my good work of an eveing once DS is in bed and have chocolate or cheese & biscuits most nights.

Thistledew · 07/11/2012 16:45

I do 6-8 hours of exercise a week. I don't consider any food to be 'naughty' and eat what I like in moderation. I don't have a sweet tooth so eat chocolate and cake infrequently- less than once a week. However, I love cheese and eat it most days, and I use butter and cream in cooking several times a week. I also enjoy 1-2 bottles of wine a week.

RobinSparkles · 07/11/2012 16:46

Same as Frontpaw.

hopkinette · 07/11/2012 16:48

Well if you're worried that certain foods are going to give you conditions such as diabetes don't you think they'd be better described as "dangerous" rather than "naughty"?

expatinscotland · 07/11/2012 16:48

Naughty food?

I don't exercise at all and eat whatever I please and when DH's East European work colleagues come back from trips home, I buy fags off them dead cheap and smoke them. If there's an opportunity to drink alcohol free, I get drunk as a lord.

I'm size 10 or so, I never weigh myself and I don't care about 'health issues'. I'm going to die one day no matter what.

Am I 'naughty'?

Fairylea · 07/11/2012 16:48

Never unless 10 min school run counts!!

I eat loads of rubbish but some good things too. I'm size 12-14 and 5ft 7.

Some days I even eat a whole huge bar of lIndt extra creamy chocolate. And I always always have a pud of some sort.

Whoknowswhocares · 07/11/2012 16:49

I watch what I eat to an extent. Not for weight reasons but for health.....high cholesterol in a couple of members of the family (not me) mean there is not much if any 'naughty' stuff in the house. Although I agree that the term naughty is atrocious. Food is food. Moderation is key.
I exercise loads (ie at least 10 hours a week, usually more) but that's because I love sport so again my choice is not anything to do with weight

CogitoErgoSometimes · 07/11/2012 16:49

You'll get more health issues if you worry than if you eat a bit of chocolate and a few takeaways from time to time. If you're really stressing about it talk to your GP and ask them for a health check but, generally speaking, if you're a healthy weight, exercise fairly regularly, don't smoke, drink moderately and eat a reasonably balanced diet then you shouldn't have any serious health concerns beyond genetic things that you can't control with lifestyle.

suzannajane80 · 07/11/2012 16:49

Let's change the word "naughty" for "not particularly healthy" then :o

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 07/11/2012 16:49

I eat what I want, when I want and walk everywhere.

No weight issues but could probably do with mustering up some energy to do sit-ups...however I'd rather chew my own kidneys.

Lottapianos · 07/11/2012 16:49

No such thing as 'naughty food' - you're an adult. You can eat what you like.

I try to follow 80:20 with food and drink - healthy 80% of the time, less healthy stuff 20% of the time. No booze in the week for example, moderate drinking at weekend only (2-3 glasses of wine or pints a night)

When I pull my finger out, I walk 1-2 miles a day + exercise DVD for 20-30 minutes 3 times a week + an hour's walk on a Saturday morning. I would like to do more exercise but I just wouldn't be able to stick to it because of the time factor.

akaemmafrost · 07/11/2012 16:49

I'm ignoring "naughty".

When I not ill like I am now and it's really pissing me off I run 4 x 10 km a week and two 40 minute swimming sessions. About once a fortnight I push the distance up on one of the runs to 15 km.

I eat chocolate or cake every day but in massive portions. I am quite happy to eat half a Choc bar and have the rest the next day. If I want a massive slice of carrot cake at the cafe at the park we go too, then that would be my lunch I wouldn't eat a meal as well.

RobinSparkles · 07/11/2012 16:50

You're all very naughty and deserve to be spanked, you naughty girls you!

:o

BrandyAlexander · 07/11/2012 16:50

I just hate foods like chocolate being referred to as "naughty", it automatically categorises them in a way that I think is harmful to young girls rather than giving them the positive message of everything in moderation.
