who was the idiot who said that size12/14 was 'chubby'?

spitting feathers over an article i read yesterday in the newspaper about this subject. it's common knowledge that the average size is 16 and over in this country so how would that make a lot of women feel? does it really matter what your size? also why the emphasis on women why not men? many of them carry weight, noone seems to say anything about it. we all come in various shapes, sizes and colours and everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way be it inside or out. media should stop giving us these so called ideals and let us decide for ourselves how we wish to look.

I'm a 5"4' and am a bigger size 12 at the moment and am most definitely chubby. I'm not huge by any means, but I'm not a healthy weight for me (don't actually know what I weigh, though I would probably be at the very top, if not over, the "healthy BMI"). So although noone has the right to say that size 12 is too big, on a lot of people it undoubtedly is. I could come down to a smaller size 12, maybe size 10 in some shops, and be ok.

Being a size 16, although it's the average, is not necessarily a good thing, if you are clearly overweight at that size. If I were a size 16, I would be obese.

It's plain to see Adele is very chubby and I'm quite sure she knows it.

I'm 5'2" and a largish size 10. 36 - 28.5 - 37. BMI 24.5. I'm very wobbly - haven't exercised at all, really, for the last 2 years, and have had 2 pregnancies in that time. I'm on the chubby side with a mummy tummy, but when I was a size 14 after having DD2, I was truly fat, BMI 29. I feel so much better after losing 2 stone, but I could lose another 2 stone and still be a healthy weight for my height. [hconfused] That's really quite shocking, because I'm quite fine-boned.
