Right was invited to dinner by sil, thought oh lovely sunday dinner

Got the kids cleaned up and oh put on a shirt , brought a smart bottle of veno

Got ther only to be greeted by cocktail sausages, garic bread and the cheap magtertia pizza yu get from iceland

There was 6 of us including them there was one pizza, one garlic bread and 8 cocktail sausages WTF

This is not because they are poor my brother is a chemical engineer ffs and drives a TVR

I would never serve that to any guest never mond the poor content its also the amount

We have had to get the children a ready roasted chicken on the way home with some salad and jackets

If you are going to invite somone for dinner then give them somthing decent and filling or dont bother

I would have had no issue with just visiting for a while then going home yo my roast ffs

Grin This has all the makings of a [Pombear] thread!

Lovesoftplay · 21/10/2012 16:54

That does sound a bit tight, but I dunno if I'd be fuming about it?!?

TidyGOLDDancer · 21/10/2012 16:54

Oh yes, this could be good!

And YANBU OP, just for the record!

AKissIsNotAContract · 21/10/2012 16:54

Does your sister run Newton's catering?

lalaland30008 · 21/10/2012 16:55

Horrendous, don't speak to her or your bil again, and go to the local papers with a photo of your starving kids.

Riddo · 21/10/2012 16:56

Did she forget you were coming? YANBU btw.

BestestBrownies · 21/10/2012 16:56

PMSL at AKiss! You beat me to it! :)

WitchesTit · 21/10/2012 16:56

I'm going to have to run to tesco for cocktail sausages and a pizza......

Fishwife1949 · 21/10/2012 16:56

SuePurblybilt · 21/10/2012 16:57

Were there pickled onions?

Fishwife1949 · 21/10/2012 16:58

OP posts:
quoteunquote · 21/10/2012 16:58

Just invite them next week, and make sure you do a decent sunday meal, at least six courses and finishing with a nice port, and cheese board.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 21/10/2012 17:00

is that what they normally eat for sun lunch?

Fishwife1949 · 21/10/2012 17:00

SuePurblybilt might have been a bit more of filling meal if there was

And yes we were invited for dinner

OP posts:
wannabedomesticgoddess · 21/10/2012 17:00

Hope you brought the vino home with you!

Fishwife1949 · 21/10/2012 17:01

OP posts:
puds11 · 21/10/2012 17:02

Is a cocktail sausage the new pomBear Grin

ThreadWatcher · 21/10/2012 17:02

I'd do as quote says - once

But not invite them again unless she seriously upped her game next time you went there.

laurenamium · 21/10/2012 17:13

Grin invite them round next week... Do a tinfoil pineapple full of cocktail sausages and pickled onion and cheese cubes on sticks and a few bowls of pombears! Make it a new tradition Bear

laurenamium · 21/10/2012 17:14

YANBU by the way!

McHappyPants2012 · 21/10/2012 17:29

Not seen Bear in along time :)

That's an easy night tea for the kids, while me and DH has a sneaky Chinese, not something to serve for Sunday afternoon dinner

TheMonster · 21/10/2012 17:31

Did you query it?

lurkedtoolong · 21/10/2012 17:31

8 cocktails sausages? Bloody hell I would have hoovered them up in one mouthful...

Maybe that was the pre-dinner snack and some ready meals washed down with fruit shoots were to come later?
