Right was invited to dinner by sil, thought oh lovely sunday dinner

Got the kids cleaned up and oh put on a shirt , brought a smart bottle of veno

Got ther only to be greeted by cocktail sausages, garic bread and the cheap magtertia pizza yu get from iceland

There was 6 of us including them there was one pizza, one garlic bread and 8 cocktail sausages WTF

This is not because they are poor my brother is a chemical engineer ffs and drives a TVR

I would never serve that to any guest never mond the poor content its also the amount

We have had to get the children a ready roasted chicken on the way home with some salad and jackets

This is the Bear thread again, eh!Grin

Please tell us what you actually said upon the arrival of this 'feast'. And what SiL seemed to expect from you in terms of 'oohs and ahs'?

And please tell us you are going to reciprocate but with a four course gourmet meal to show her up what she should have done...

My sister and i used to love going to my aunts for dinner because we would be given half a chicken fillet and 6 chips on our plates (exactly everytime) so our parents always took us for a Mcdonalds on the way :) loved it

I wonder if they are related to my Ex-PILs.

On Xmas Day, they NEVER have Xmas dinner. They have an Iceland party buffet type thing - cocktail sausages, sausage rolls etc. And not a great deal of it.

The first year I went there I said to ExP (in my naivety) 'Oh, do they have their proper Xmas dinner when we've all gone home?'

He said no, they never have a proper Xmas dinner, XMIL is too tired from cooking every other day in the year, Xmas is her day off!

dearprudence · 21/10/2012 20:05

YANBU. Sounds revolting.

Did you all sit at the table with cutlery and cloth napkins?

Quadrangle · 21/10/2012 20:57

My exs mum on "special occasions" would serve a breaded chicken fillet with pasta n sauce [the packets you add water too] with a tin of sweetcorn!

Quadrangle · 22/10/2012 09:36

Fanjo I hope you invited your ex's mum back and served her a pepperami with a pot noodle emptied onto the plate next to it. Grin

InSPsFanjoNoOneHearsYouScream · 22/10/2012 09:57
