Aibu to think that if you have a baby sitter

Who specifically tells you that they can only do til half ten latest, and said baby sitter has a 14 week old baby at home with her partner, who is also looking after their 12 year old and his mate sleeping over, then you should bloody well rock up home at half past bloody ten and not still be out with no sign of return or phone call at five to bastard eleven?

And breathe.

I think that not letting a babysitter know if you're going to be late is really not on - sometimes, it is unavoidable, but I would always try to inform them, pay them extra etc.

Although, I am sure your 12 year old and his friend won't be too much trouble, they will take care of themselves I'm sure!

I understand wanting to get back though, sorry that the people you're babysitting for haven't got in touch. :(

No, and I don't have the number of the house they've gone to although it's only down the road in the same village. This is the second time they've been late, although last time they didn't show back til bloody midnight, which is why I made it crystal clear half ten was my max. And these people are meant to be our FRIENDS.

Well never do it again, that's not on, phone them and say you have to go so they bloody well need to get home.

If they normally nice though maybe they stuck for a taxi??

To be honest you shouldn't be doing if without an emergency contact number for them in case something happened, kids ill or accident.

Sorry, x posts. And I've got to walk home up a really scary unlit lane in the pissing rain to get home too. Why oh why was the phrase "benefit of the doubt" invented? Cos I won't be giving it to anyone ever again.

I could easily get the number in an emergency, I thought they'd have left it but I've looked and they haven't, and to get it now I'd have to ring a mutual friend and it's a bit late for a non emergency.

It's horrid to be left waiting around, it really feels like you're being taken advantage of.

Why on earth haven't you got contact numbers?!?! What the hell do they expect you to do an emergency happened? You may well end up having to write tonight off, but I would make it crystal clear before I left that I was extremely disappointed that they had taken advantage once again and that I would not be able to sit for them again. And that I was hurt that they thought so little of our friendship that they would do such a thing. But I'm still speechless you let them leave without knowing how to contact them.

If I were you I'd call them and tell them you're phoning for a taxi, you need to get home to the baby.

Never babysit for them again.

Outrageous.

I would actually ring the mutual friend for the number, track them down and say that your DH couldn't settle your baby, crying for an hour, older kids likely to be woken by noise etc.

Ring the mutual friend, it's fri and it IS an emergency as you need to go.

How bloody selfish, make the dad walk you home of course. Give them a bollocking and never do it again.

a) How old are their children? Are they asleep in bed or watching telly somewhere?
b)do you have any number at all to contact them with?

I would ring the friend and get the number, if you can't get hold of them and they are this late, you could justifiably tell them you are worried. It's nearly an HOUR late now. And you need to get back to your baby - although I'm sure your DH has everything under control!
