To be scared we're off to haven *gulp*

DP has just announced his parents have booked a last minute caravan in a haven park. I know i'm being stuck up, but I'm really afraid it's going to be filthy! I don't know if i'm more upset about staying in a caravan or the fact I might see FIL in his pants on the way to the bathroom...

Ironically (and in all seriousness) it is people like the op that I get nervous about when I book my Haven/Park Resorts holiday.

The ones that will look at us like we are potential muggers/arsonists etc because we have a larger family, mixed race family, London accents etc.

They can absolutely ruin a much longed for short break. Its crap having some prissy twat clutching their handbag as you walk past with your children or look alarmed when you turn up next door.

Its all about them and their nasty little prejudices but my how they like to project them.

Also the OP smacks a wee bit of self loathing. Because she cannot afford to be where she wants to be, with people who wouldnt want to be with her...

It must be very sad to be like that.

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 30/09/2012 22:18

AND they tend to exaggerate for affect...

PickledFanjoCat · 30/09/2012 22:24

You are a snob. Try reading your posts back.

Your also a massive ingrate. Moaning and moaning about a free holiday.

You are commenting about these people. You are insinuating they are "rough" and beneath you.

Knowing that your not going back gives me one more good reason to go back to haven.

PickledFanjoCat · 30/09/2012 22:25

And slagging off someone saying your going to feed them dog food then taking a freebie holiday from them only to sneer at it, that's pretty vile behaviour.

You have more in common with your fellow holiday makers than you realise.

skyebluesapphire · 30/09/2012 22:25

before we had DD, we used to avoid the entertainment like the plague. we used the caravan as a base and travelled around in the day.

Now that I have DD, I appreciate the park, swimming pool and the entertainment as DD 4yo loves it. Its a couple of hours watching a lizard and a seagull dancing around and it totally makes her day and is the sole reason that i go to Parkdean at the moment....

The only people that I dont like on holiday are loud noisy ones... with music booming out from the caravan etc. But Parkdean is a family park and does not allow noise after 11pm, so thats fine with me...

I am a professional person, not a lout, but this type of holiday is all that I can afford since STBXH walked out and tbh was the sort of holiday we took before , although then we had the best accommodation that we could afford and now its the cheapest, lol.

I have always found everybody to be very pleasant on holiday parks. Now that I have DD I make an effort to talk to people in the park or the entertainment etc and find that people are actually very nice.....

Shaky · 30/09/2012 22:40

We are going to hafan y mor tomorrow, I would love to meet a MNetter there. We will be at the kids show meeting Bradley bear etc. if you are also there please just bring Pom bears into conversations and I will know you are a MNetter.

I never take any notice of anyone else on holiday. I don't have peircings, tatoos, track suits or hoop earrings. I hope you have a good holiday and realise that not everyone is vile.

Could you pull your judgy pants up any further? They may give you a wedgie.

If I see anyone with a cats bum face I will think of you Smile

harvestvestibule · 30/09/2012 22:49

Thing is Boomy is going at very low season which might well a different class of clientele from the much pricier school holiday period.

OhlimpPricks · 30/09/2012 22:57

So people with less disposable income and holiday in term time are inferior to others?

monkeysbignuts · 30/09/2012 23:06

I hate Haven, never tried pontins I have heard its worse than Haven. Not heard of parkdean so will look it up.
I love centre parcs but alas we can't afford it Sad

I'm going in cheap season Shock I smoke and I have tattoos... Yeah, I'd avoid me too!

GothAnneGeddes · 30/09/2012 23:11

Really, really glad for the YABU-ers on this thread - I'd love to meet any of you at a Haven holiday.

O.P you need to have a think about how you're coming across here.

harvestvestibule · 30/09/2012 23:15

more likely to be 'rougher' types at this time of year I would think t

NamesKerry · 30/09/2012 23:19

harvest I've made a silent vow to behave myself this year. Blush

Shaky · 30/09/2012 23:20

Jeez we went in may, we had the best weather and we had a fantastic time. This is the first holiday ds has been able to take since.

harvestvestibule · 30/09/2012 23:22

make sure you do, young lady!

apostropheuse · 30/09/2012 23:24

Hmmm, so I went in September. I'm going back in March. I'm also going in peak school holiday time in the summer.

Not quite sure what category I fall into.

Perhaps you're only rough if you go solely in low season?
Perhaps your naice if you only go in high season?

What a ridiculous thing to say!

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 30/09/2012 23:25

What I want to know is WHEN did they change the club song?!
I was most shocked, I was all set to sing and dance to
"We're looking for tigers, We're looking cheeters, We're looking for rhino's and big alligators! From giant Gorrillas to little bay cubs, we're having fun in the TIGER CLUB!"
And found they had gone and chaged the words! Blush

Regarding Perran Sands - if wheelchair access is an issue, a better option is to go off site and drive to Perranporth. It is a lovely little seaside village (with a fabulous cafe that does the best sunday dinner, which I hope is still open - it has been far too long since I was last there). You can park on the beach front and it has very easy access to the beach. And their is a bar on the beach too.

Nahla321 · 30/09/2012 23:26

I think you should get over it, a free holiday and your complaining? Some people actually choose these holidays with little ones as it is so much easier than the hassle of taking young children/ babies abroad! Theft can happen anywhere and it is no reason to stereotype a whole group of people. You get good and bad everywhere. Just enjoy it for goodness sake, those kind of places are children's idea paradise when they are young as almost everything on the site is centred around them.

Shaky · 30/09/2012 23:26

Argh our ds is 2, it doesn't matter what time of year he goes on holiday. He's not missing anything YET.. Obviously I would not take him out of school, he doesn't go yet

NotShortImFunSized · 30/09/2012 23:27

MrsDV ooh didn't think of that. I now can't wait to go in Oct half term. 5 kids, one on way, mixed race xdp coming too and he has quite a few tatts & shaves his head, 3 mixed race dc, eldest 2 with different dad from 1st marriage. Sounds like I'd be OPs worse nightmare Grin

Shaky · 30/09/2012 23:29

Please tell me someone will be at hafan y mor tomorrow , just so I can wave and wink at you! Grin

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 30/09/2012 23:29

*there not their. It has been a long day!

And I must be rough then, what with going in September.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 30/09/2012 23:30

Oh I wish Shaky! I love it there!

booomy · 30/09/2012 23:36

orange how do you know what colour I am? Why are you bringing race into it? I've got a strong south london accent and DP's family are incredibly scouse! We are low income and very young parents. I don't feel people judge us.

I did come with an idea of what people would be like, because stereotypes obviously come from somewhere. And my ideas have been proven correct!
Heads up for anyone who's said they're off to a haven, there was no loo roll, washing up sponges, washing up liquid, hand wash etc! We bought personal toiletries but forgot those!
