DP has just announced his parents have booked a last minute caravan in a haven park. I know i'm being stuck up, but I'm really afraid it's going to be filthy! I don't know if i'm more upset about staying in a caravan or the fact I might see FIL in his pants on the way to the bathroom...

OP posts:
SPsFanjoHarboursDeadCatsAgain · 28/09/2012 13:15

I have tattoos and haven't been to Havens.

fairy can I join Ghetto Camp please? We can drink cheap cider and strong lager while smoking and swearing during bingo.

PickledFanjoCat · 28/09/2012 13:15

Up the duff shirty or they sound bloody nice!

Of course people need to get pissed. Have you seen the children's entertainment sober!

porcamiseria · 28/09/2012 13:15

ugh

last Haven I went to was full of fat women in football kits, pushing prams and smoking

It was fucking horrible

enjoy!!!!!

PickledFanjoCat · 28/09/2012 13:17

So every holiday maker was fat and smoked? Really? Confused

Never ever ever happened to me.

Sirzy · 28/09/2012 13:17

I have to say your posts make you sound rather snobbish.

Some haven sites are better than others dependant what you want but they are great for children!

SaraSidle · 28/09/2012 13:17

Where was your summer holiday this year op?

SPsFanjoHarboursDeadCatsAgain · 28/09/2012 13:18

last Haven I went to was full of fat women in football kits, pushing prams and smoking

I'd rather be in Haven with people you described as above then someone like you any day!

porcamiseria · 28/09/2012 13:19

pickled

Yes, I am telling the truth, the dress code was either

dressing gown
football kit (both genders)

it rained all weekend

I had post traumatic stress disorder

seriously, even my children hated it!

ibizagirl · 28/09/2012 13:21

Stayed at Weymouth Bay which was Haven. A three night stay for a bargain. Caravan was top of the range and very clean and i am a fussy person. Didn't think much of the entertainment so just used it as a base. Weather was lovely so i suppose that makes a difference. Been to Pontins in Brixham years ago which was a Sun holiday and that was dodgy. Chalet stank of damp. Stuck it out and when home could smell the damp on all our belongings. Never again. But i think that has closed now anyway.

BoerWarKids · 28/09/2012 13:25

Can't believe some of the snobby posts! Shock

I'd rather go to Haven than CenterParcs any day.

CenterParcs is just a massively overpriced Haven/Butlins/Pontins with knobs on.

ClippedPhoenix · 28/09/2012 13:25

I'm off to an adult weekend in Butlins soon! Can't wait to pack my boot with bottles of voddy, cases of beer and cartons of baccy Grin

NorksAreMessy · 28/09/2012 13:25

I have done Haven in Cornwall when the children were tiny.
They loved it, BUT we spent the days out sightseeing or at the beach and only went back for dinner and bed though.
Take LOTS of warm bedclothes, we were chilly.

SaraSidle · 28/09/2012 13:26

Booomy sounds like your pils are doing you a favour if some sort? Did you have a holiday this summer? Or have they perhaps tried ( and in your eyes failed) to provide you all with a treat?

Are you low income? Can you actually afford to be so picky?

SPsFanjoHarboursDeadCatsAgain · 28/09/2012 13:26

clipped me and a few friends have been thinking of doing that!

Shaky · 28/09/2012 13:27

We are going to haven on Monday.

We have had several nice holidays there.

I do not own a football kit or any hoop earrings.

laracroft2001 · 28/09/2012 13:27

I just recently went for a short break in a haven caravan. Caravan was very clean.

I dont have tattoos/bling/ etc etc but without sounding horrible (although it will), most of the other people looked and sounded like they were from either Benidorm or Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

Had a lovely time though- avoided the staff show and the bingo!

ClippedPhoenix · 28/09/2012 13:29

Well Fanjo they're excellent! One big party. My friend has just come back from one last week, she's depressed now and can't wait to go with me and a few others for my 50th.

NotShortImFunSized · 28/09/2012 13:31

Please tell me Haven isn't that bad!!! Sad

Booked a last minute Oct half term break last week, as a surprise for the kids. It's a lodge if that makes any difference. It's North Devon, Woolacombe I think, Golden Coast village or something like that.

SPsFanjoHarboursDeadCatsAgain · 28/09/2012 13:32

I'm going to have to get it sorted then! Grin

Best get my football kit and hooped earrings out for the occasion!

porcamiseria · 28/09/2012 13:32

sorry I forget myself sometimes Blush, it MN, not my RL friends

it did not help that it rained the whole time, the region was horrible, the nearest town was an industrial zone and it wasnoweher near a beach

had it been nice weather in attractive place I am sure I would not have been quite so bitchy

CustardIsMyNemesis · 28/09/2012 13:41

I got back on Monday from an amazing week in Haven in Hafan-y-mor. I have no piercings or tattoos that you can see

DH and I have travelled all around the world, but love going to Haven sites with DD. We have never come across an 'unclean' caravan despite staying in all different grades.

I think if you go with an attitude that it will be shit, you will have a crap time. If you go and decide to have a good time you will, especially if you have children as there always seems to be some sort of activity on for them.

WelshMaenad · 28/09/2012 13:43

Notshort, golden coast isn't haven it's an independent park. We did a week there in June and had a lovely time. We had superior accommodation, little bungalow, but did a sun holiday in a more basic apartment when Dd was tiny. It's nice, we found the accommodation very clean. We didn't really use the entertainment, not our scene, more a base for exploring. the ceramic studio us pricey but nove, good gor acwet morning. i can recommend loads of places to go in the surrounds if you like?

WelshMaenad · 28/09/2012 13:45

Oh, just seen you have a lodge! We had a silver lodge, it was lovely. Will warn you that there is no freeview, just 4 channels on tv, and mobile reception sketchy. Park wifi is £15 a day. Load your kindle before you go!

YvonneMcGruder · 28/09/2012 13:50

YABU. We love Haven, and go every year. There's loads for the children to do, from activities during the day to the club on a night with dancing/games etc, the majority of the sites are within walking distance to the beach, and there's always something for them to do.
I can't speak for the basic caravans as I don't know what they're like, but we've always gone for the superior plus size (the medium range one) and they've been brilliant - clean and spacious.
So suck it up, you might enjoy it. Grin

ChaChaDigregorio · 28/09/2012 13:54

Nice thing about Haven is the only people you get there are genuinely nice people who don't give a shit about showing off to their friends about where they go on holiday.

Bad thing about Haven is there is simply nowhere to buy Green and Black's choccies, organic fruit and veg or local artisan cider on site.
