Out having a cigarette at work - with resident neanderthal. He was talking about doing some work at the local nurses residences and came out with the line "well, it's not surprising that they go on all the time about young girls getting raped - I mean they were wandering about with their arses and tits out - I could have done anything to them..." To which I replied "Only if you were a rapist - are you a rapist then??"

He went on to say "Well they were all drunk, anything could happen to them, stupid bints" - again I replied "They could only get raped if there was a rapist there - and it wouldn't matter to him what they were wearing."

He changed the subject - utter twat

Colleague said I was wrong to suggest he was a rapist - I think I wasn't. Was I??

I think you're amazing tbh. Well done.

SpaceCoreDirective34124 · 24/09/2012 18:12

i don't think you were wrong to challenge his ridiculous attitude. Perhaps it made him think about what he was saying.

He's clearly got a horrible attitude towards women.

GilbGeekette · 24/09/2012 18:12

God! Well done you. That's the sort of thing I would want to say, but wouldn't have the nerve to.

janey68 · 24/09/2012 18:12

YANBU

OHforDUCKScake · 24/09/2012 18:12

You at no point suggested he was a rapisy going by what you've said.

yousankmybattleship · 24/09/2012 18:12

He sounds like an idiot but to be perfectly honest you don't sound very nice either. Maybe chat to someone else over your cigarette next time?

aldiwhore · 24/09/2012 18:12

I think you were wrong to engage in that conversation with a known knobhead over a cigarette. Cigs should be savoured.

YANBU.

Sounds like actually he acknowledged your fair point with his subject change, your colleague missed the subtley of your conversation. You didn't call him a rapist, you asked him.

McBee27 · 24/09/2012 18:13

BRAVO!!

NervousAt20 · 24/09/2012 18:13

I don't think you were wrong at all! Fair play to you!!!

TheCapedCrusader · 24/09/2012 18:13

YANBU! I wish more people were like you.

MadBusLady · 24/09/2012 18:13

Your colleague is incorrect. If you've reported your words correctly, you didn't "suggest" he was a rapist, you asked him if he was one.

thebeesnees79 · 24/09/2012 18:15

standing ovation!!

TheGoldenKnid · 24/09/2012 18:15

YANBU. Well done!

ginmakesitallok · 24/09/2012 18:15

I don't sound very nice?? Confused I'm lovely! Wink Guess I should have just done the usual and stayed quiet then? It is reflective of his attitute to women - he's a sexist pig. I would not CHOOSE to socialise with him, but think it would be even more rude to walk away if he comes over to talk?

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 24/09/2012 18:15

You were perfectly justified in making that comment, after he said what he said

I would have done the same

McHappyPants2012 · 24/09/2012 18:16

Well done :)

IsSamNormansDad · 24/09/2012 18:16

YANBU, well done. Maybe he will think twice now.

domesticgodless · 24/09/2012 18:17

WOW. Way to go.

If I'd heard a comment like that I'd probably have spluttered in rage and had to walk away before I ranted at him. Your response was perfect.

Rowanhart · 24/09/2012 18:17

Well done you. Yanbu unreasonable. You are being brill.

DairyNips · 24/09/2012 18:17

YANBU Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 24/09/2012 18:17

Good for you.

Bemused at the comment you're not 'nice' for pointing out a very simple fact.

What were you meant to do?!

OwlLady · 24/09/2012 18:17

god what a wanker :(

Dawndonna · 24/09/2012 18:17

Good on you!

gallicgirl · 24/09/2012 18:17

I think you should walk away if you don't want to talk to him. if he queries it, tell him his views are objectionable (or "you talk shite" might be better)

Why would you be bothered if he thinks you're rude?

well done on challenging him.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 24/09/2012 18:18

Oh, well played OP
