Out having a cigarette at work - with resident neanderthal. He was talking about doing some work at the local nurses residences and came out with the line "well, it's not surprising that they go on all the time about young girls getting raped - I mean they were wandering about with their arses and tits out - I could have done anything to them..." To which I replied "Only if you were a rapist - are you a rapist then??"

He went on to say "Well they were all drunk, anything could happen to them, stupid bints" - again I replied "They could only get raped if there was a rapist there - and it wouldn't matter to him what they were wearing."

He changed the subject - utter twat

Colleague said I was wrong to suggest he was a rapist - I think I wasn't. Was I??

I thought this little anecdote made the OP sound not very nice because (in my opinion) she seemed unecessarily aggressive. I completely agree he was talking crap, but think he was probably doing so to get a reaction. I think it would have been more effective to say calmly that his views were abhorant and walk away. Slinging insults at people doesn't help to make your point. Still, I seem to be in a minority so maybe I'm wrong!

Even assuming the OP sounded "aggressive" (which I am not assuming, because that comeback sounds pretty calm and clinical to me, that's why it's good), it wouldn't really be "unnecessary" aggression, would it. It would be totally merited.

I don't think pointing out the fact that the only cause of rape is a rapist is slinging insults.

Personally I'd have called him a twatting bucklewodger and to fuck the fuck off. That would have been rude.
