Perhaps Your 2 year old is just a cupcake looking for her stud muffin (so she can kick her legs about all night- WTF)?

Mine sure as hell isn't.

t-shirt at Zulily

Just kill me now. Even running the risk of an AIBU flaming isn't as bad as this fucking abomination.

Well, that too Spotty.

And yes, any company who advertised on MN should take the time to have a look at the boards and get a feel for the place.

It is worrying that they have done that while their product development team has designed and approved this tshirt. Without anyone saying, 'oh. Here. Is this not a bit inappropriate?'

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/09/2012 07:59

yy spotty

iwantsomepeachcookies · 24/09/2012 08:01

Completely agree OP, it's disgusting and inappropriate. I can't imagine dressing my innocent little two year old in something with such a sexual creepy message. I may also email zulily to complain.

Leftwingharpie · 24/09/2012 08:05

It clearly has sexual connotations - looking for a stud muffin doesn't make sense without an implied sexual interest. And it's definitely worth worrying about if you have young children - particularly girls.

Tanith · 24/09/2012 08:34

Paedophiles genuinely believe that children want to have sex with them. They believe that the children are "up for it".

T-shirts like these promote that belief.

So there's real abuse going on in the world, is there? We should concentrate on the things that matter, should we?

Here's a way that we can all do precisely that: we can get sexualised t-shirts for kids taken off the market and their design rightly considered inappropriate.

TheBigJessie · 24/09/2012 09:18

Another real problem in the world: homophobia. The assumption that absolutely everyone will grow up to be perfectly heterosexual. T-shirts like this foster that attitude by encouraging people to put two year old girls in the heterosexual box.

I don't think such explicit expectations from the age of two years old is going to make it easier for teenaged girls and young women to come out as lesbian, bisexual or anywhere else on the spectrum of sexuality.

MrDobalina · 24/09/2012 09:37

YY to spotty and Jessie

there is actually nothing RIGHT with the T-shirt

Angry Sad

TheBigJessie · 24/09/2012 10:04

Hey, it's got a clever "legless design" for hot weather.

That's one for Private Eye, if they still have a section for daft marketing speak.

Legless design= a t-shirt.

MrDobalina · 24/09/2012 10:10

its really weird huh jessie Confused

like other sleepwear restricts them kicking their legs??? Confused

bizarre, from start to finish

i wonder if they have sold any?

BobblyOrangeGoldGussets · 24/09/2012 10:14

OP YANBU, it's the pits, along with the twats who refer to their offspring as "sexy".

Empusa · 24/09/2012 10:16

"i wonder if they have sold any?"

Probably. :(

Unfortunately people buy this shit

MrDobalina · 24/09/2012 10:16

apart from some really nice waterproof/winter gear which i missed out on on Zulily, it all seems a bit twee and VERY gender stereotyped at its best.

This is obviously its worst

MrDobalina · 24/09/2012 10:17

Try

'im just a cupcake, looking for my lipstick lesbian'

or

'im just a cupcake, looking for my engineering doctorate'

madeupmummy2012 · 24/09/2012 10:19

i personally wouldnt buy it for my dd but i have seen worse. Bit dramatic if you ask me just dont buy it Confused

WowOoo · 24/09/2012 10:30

It's hideous. I agree with you Op.

Haven't used that company and certainly won't be in the future.

TheBigJessie · 24/09/2012 10:31

"Without education, I'm just another cupcake on the cakestand"

That's my rip-off of Just Another Brick In The Wall.

TroublesomeEx · 24/09/2012 10:35

But Folk the very fact it's available makes some people think it's acceptable

True, true. But then, I'd probably rather avoid people who can't think for themselves and form an independent opinion either! Grin

This is just the sort of thing my MIL would buy. I've said before that when DD was about 3 she not only did a full Sandy from Grease makeover on her (complete with curly hair, blusher, blue eyeshadow and shocking pink nail polish Hmm) but also told her when she was 4 that she was "pretty enough to marry a footballer".

FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

Our only saving grace is that she is completely computer illiterate!

CakeBump · 24/09/2012 10:37

It's tasteless, but I'm not offended as such.

But then, I think any baby outfit with a slogan on ("Daddy's Little Princess") is unbearably tacky.

zulily · 24/09/2012 13:22

Hi there everyone,

Oh dear, it seems we've livened up Monday morning more than we meant to. We wanted to respond to this thread as it?s raised good points on both sides of the issue, (and, to be fair, some points about our ever evolving internal processes.)

We?ve all read your feedback with great interest (and a few groans) and have removed the t-shirt from the site. Also, after reviewing the product description it looks like we had an error on our part, and the wrong copy was put beside this item. The description was for a romper sleep suit, not the t-shirt, if that gives the error any context!

We are always working to improve both what is put up on our site and quality check what we are putting in our event descriptions so items like this do not end up on our site in the future.

At zulily, we believe children come in all shapes, sizes and types ? princesses and fireman, doctors and Olympians, construction workers and superheroes ? and much more, regardless of gender.

Please accept our apologies, we are now going to take the cupcake t-shirt, some scissors to cut it up and sit on the naughty step.

Kind Regards,
The zulily team

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 24/09/2012 13:24

Thank you Zulily.

You do of course mean 'royalty and firefighters' rather than 'princesses and firemen', though.

frumpet · 24/09/2012 13:30

God i hate those sort of clothes , the ones with stitched writing , they are too scratchy on baby soft skin .

Wigeon · 24/09/2012 13:43

Thank you Zulily, both for such a prompt consideration of the issue, and for removing the t-shirt from your site.

spottyock · 24/09/2012 13:49

Thank you Zulily.
TDoS, your response made me Smile

Thumbwitch · 24/09/2012 13:52

Power of MN strikes again! Well done Zulily.

TroublesomeEx · 24/09/2012 14:03

Smile Thank you.
