Next door neighbour asked me yesterday if she could put me down as the second driver on her new car.

Had no idea what she was talking about so she whipped out a Ford brochure and informed me that she is getting a new Meriva and needs to put someone down as a second driver, but her Mum lives 6 miles away.

Still not got to the bottom of why she needs a second driver, but she did tell me that she's entitled to the car because she's got bad knees, in fact she says she has no knee caps at all! Confused

Neighbour and I attend a slimming class together, and she needs to lose several stone, (which can't be helping her knees) but her weight doesn't stop her walking with me, 6-7 miles, up and down hills, with a pushchair, 3 times a week, and attending a Zumba class with me. Nor does it stop her having regular stalls at bootfairs from 6am til 2pm on Sundays.

Surely if she can manage all that, she shouldn't be entitled to a new car for her 'disability' when so many other, genuinely disabled people struggle to get any help at all? She doesn't even use her current car very often, she walks everywhere!

And i am someone who has known a few people who have claimed fraudulently, so i am not being deluded or saying it doesn't happen

Lola, last time i checked threads in AIBU didn't have to have a point, other than to find out whether op is BU or not. On your basis, half the threads on AIBU shouldn't be made.

LolaThePregnantFlyola · 20/09/2012 15:40

titty i did not say it shouldn't be here just that it is pointless, which it is.

I also asked what the use of it was, what did op hope to get from posting this

most threads even in aibu hope to get something, maybe a laugh, an answer, advice op just wants to say 'i think it is fraudulent'

I'm asking , And what if it is?, there is only so much we can talk about on the info op has given, how long can you really go on saying she may be, she may not be.

There is not a conclusion to this thread, op isn't going to report, there is no more information to give this is it.

I would just like to point out to anyone reading this not so in the know about DLA (and many are I am sure) that Mobility Component is only one part of DLA; those criteria apply to that only and that there are many, many people rightly claiming the care component without mobility at HR level

Thank you

A good point well highlighted.
