i am tired and tetchy.

I have worked every day for the last 10 days culminating in an absolute shitter of a night shift last night.

I am knackered.

Bloody child has just announced it is doing a starlight charity walk tonight and will need collctting at about 1am.

I am in serious need of wine.

My options...

A. Give her the car keys and a quick driving lesson.

B. Tell her she will have to walk home.

C. Go and pick her up.

Bollocks.

Who else is going? Can she get a lift with another parent?

podgymumma · 15/09/2012 18:18

D. Book her a taxi

auntmargaret · 15/09/2012 18:18

Taxi?

UnChartered · 15/09/2012 18:19

can you arrange a cab to collect her?

a friend?

go in a cab yourself and collect her - then you can have a glass to relax too?

is she ok to walk? i mean does she feel confident to?

biddyofsuburbia · 15/09/2012 18:19

E. Sleepover at house of someone she is walking with?

Sirzy · 15/09/2012 18:21

I would arrange a taxi for her

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:21

Live in the 1870s rural hicksville. No taxis.

Why the actual bloody hell would anyone thonk a charity walk would be best done at night? Why not do it in daylight? Nobbers.

iknowwho · 15/09/2012 18:22

I'm going to suggest taxi as well.

Could DP/Dh not go?

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 15/09/2012 18:23

Who is your DD walking with? Maybe they could drop her back home?

YADefNBU.

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:23

And nobody living close by to scroung a lift.

OP posts:
iknowwho · 15/09/2012 18:23

x post with the taxi.

If the worst comes to the worst I would suggests that she cancels it.
I knw, mean and selfish some may shout, but when you have done night shifts like that you seriously need to decompress.

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:24

DH is stronger and more selfish than I am and is able to say no.

And also did the picking up last week.

OP posts:
SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:25

She also needs to do it (part of schopl good deeds for charidee stuff)

I need to just shuttup and do it.

OP posts:
iknowwho · 15/09/2012 18:26

Seriously I would be making a donation to Starlight in lieu of DD attendence and then hitting the vino!!

SuperB0F · 15/09/2012 18:26

Ah, but was it at 1am? And has he been working for ten days straight? I think not.

RubyFakeNails · 15/09/2012 18:26

Knock back wine now although I'd go with vodka follow it up with equal water. Crash out within the hour. Set alarm for 12:45.

It's the same as going on a night out, returning at 3 or 4 and then getting up at 7 and going to work.

Leave the remainder of the wine chilling or with some chocolate for your return.

Nanny0gg · 15/09/2012 18:27

Maybe he did do it last week but has he worked as many days as you?

And phone for a taxi, doesn't matter where you live.

ToothGah · 15/09/2012 18:27

I might be tempted to say no, as DC hadn't told you about it (presumably).

Though reading that back sounds a bit harsh.

Doesn't DH realise you are knackered and in need of wine an early night?

Goldenjubilee10 · 15/09/2012 18:27

Did you know about it before now. If not then she's not doing it tonight. She should be giving you notice of these things.

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:29

I really do need to learn to say no. My guilt and inability is starting to really piss me off.

OP posts:
LucieMay · 15/09/2012 18:29

You can get taxis anywhere nowadays.

Catsmamma · 15/09/2012 18:30

I am with the no notice, not happening!

and she can throw herself on her father's mercy.

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:31

She claims she did tell me. I quite possibly said 'yes dear' and then instantly forgot.

DH is also now pissing me off. Selfish bastard.

frasersmummy · 15/09/2012 18:31

ruby I seriously hope you are joking ...

SheelaNeGoldGig · 15/09/2012 18:32

No taxis here lucie. Not unless you book a year in advance and pay £150 for it. Really.
