To think that these T-shirts are disgusting?

Whatever you may think of her, this is hardly in good taste is it? It just makes the unions look bad to have this sort of thing on sale at their conference. Can you imagine the CBI having T-shirts looking forward to the deaths of Tony Benn, or Shirley Williams, on sale at their conference?

There's a relationship between the production of raw materials and manufacturing.

Economics 101.

Thatcher Death Geordie Jazz Hands is coming along a treat, btw.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 21:27

I think it would have been worth a bit of money to keep our manufacturing base, our energy base and whole towns worth of people employed and 'useful'. Bailing out the banks was done...

As I said, though. Miners are not even in the top ten. Anyone remember Section 28, or the General Belgrano, or immigration and her nasty, racist digs?

gordyslovesheep · 11/09/2012 21:27

Yes GreenD because the unions still actually exist and everything!

gordyslovesheep · 11/09/2012 21:29

Yes Terrys - remember her refusal to support sanctions against South Africa?

GreenD · 11/09/2012 21:30

The unions have been reigned in since the 80s though. There's no way the Japanese firms would have put up with the same kind of nonsense that happened in the 70s at British Leyland etc.

The General Bragano was a legitimate act of war, even the Argentinians have admitted that.

Immigration? You'll have to explain that one to me.

gordyslovesheep · 11/09/2012 21:34

yes - sinking ships sailing away from you - very brave

Unions are still rather powerful Grin trust me

googlyeyes · 11/09/2012 21:37

Why oh why is the same hatred and vitriol not directed at Tony Blair? His lies have led to the deaths of tens and tens of thousands so surely none of Thatcher's crimes come close.

Is it because he was on the left?

I just really don't get why he has been let off so lightly

UnChartered · 11/09/2012 21:38

general pinochet was wanted as a war criminal during the 1980s

but a regular private visitor at the Thatcher resident

she loved that dictators ass!

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 21:39

She didn't want the Vietnamese Boat people here (who were suffering horribly) but he had "less objection to refugees such as Rhodesians, Poles and Hungarians, since they could more easily be assimilated into British society". hat would be white people then. Racism, Stop and Search and the Mandela/sanctions issue.

I was in University after the Tories and one of the questions we were asked was why the UK at that time, did not have a really powerful Far Right political movement (like the one gaining ground in France and similar ones in Italy and Spain). One of the answers was that we didn't need one, we had the Tories to appeal to racists.

UnChartered · 11/09/2012 21:39

googly

because this thread is about Mrs T?

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 21:45

According to this Thatcher indeed killed lots of people.

UnCharted please don't say Mrs T, it makes me think it is about me. Grin

UnChartered · 11/09/2012 21:49

I am a middle aged mother of 3 ,university educated to post grad level ,successful professional of 20 years standing . I do not like to wish bad things on anyone,am very much live and let live and would never wear a t shirt like that But when she goes I will take a bottle of champagne from my well stocked middle class fridge and drink it ,and think of my darling Dad

TheWonderfulFanny · 11/09/2012 21:54

Just posting to request a tutorial from linerunner when she's got it sorted.

I may have to do some sort of under-the-desk hand-jive at work...

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 11/09/2012 21:58

I wonder the same googly. Massive double standards going on here.

This thread is about MT, but there wouldn't be a thread about tony Blair like this in the first place. That's the point. Why so much vitriol at MT. She didn't do any more damage than any other PM who is in the position for a number of years.

googlyeyes · 11/09/2012 21:59

I think it's relevant to ask on this thread why she is despised so much more than other politicians, such as Blair and hence why this sort of tshirt is not extended to others.

I have never heard anyone say they will dance on Blair's grave or crack open the champers upon his demise. Altho granted he's probably got a few more years left in him than Thatcher

Dawndonna · 11/09/2012 22:00

I do so hope the unions are still reasonably powerful. They might bring down this government yet.
I too will have a drink when that woman dies. She is a blight on the face of any decent society.

LineRunner · 11/09/2012 22:01

I think I'll ask Viz to do a cut-out-and-keep 'Thatcher Death Geordie Jazz Hands' guide.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 22:03

She did do more damage. Firstly, because she was in office so long.

Believe me, there is no love lost between me and Blair, either. But he didn't mess up generations of families, whole cities (except some overseas). I didn't see my job get more heart-breaking because of him. He has <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ca/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=709&tbm=isch&tbnid=T7JFa1Qaz-KQIM:&imgrefurl=www.zazzle.co.uk/tony%2Bblair%2Bgifts&docid=BbT3SxGKzagv3M&imgurl=rlv.zcache.co.uk/idiot_tony_blair_tee_shirts-r26cb1779e84b45159738ff2a14eae902_f0czj_216.jpg&w=216&h=216&ei=yqZPUPH5O8SXiQKw2oDwDQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1067&vpy=260&dur=1016&hovh=172&hovw=172&tx=86&ty=90&sig=101652942560651010940&page=2&tbnh=159&tbnw=159&start=16&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:16,i:170" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">his own T-shirts as well.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 22:04

One about him dying.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 22:05

And, his are mail order...

YokoUhOh · 11/09/2012 22:08

I wonder if any of the self-identified Thatcher fans on here have seen Boys From The Blackstuff (as mentioned by another poster earlier)? How can any sentient being fail to be moved by the plight of the 'three million'? People who revere Thatcher care only about their own life chances.

YokoUhOh · 11/09/2012 22:11

Can't bear the lying, grimacing war criminal Blair, either. The day John Smith died was a bleak day for this country.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 11/09/2012 22:17

Couldn't agree more, Yoko. I cried buckets. The man was a legend.

YokoUhOh · 11/09/2012 22:20

Me too Mrs should have been going out with boys and smoking instead of being interested in politics when I was 13
