An amazing show. Even better live. I bought some precious things for my Dbro and exH. They were well chuffed. There was no I can I can't though.

RagingDull · 24/08/2012 20:56

well i just dont find squirmingly uncomfortable funny, im watching Miranda now.....i find that funny, i find lots of stuff funny, but neither league or gentlemen nor phsychoville do so much as raise a smile......i sort of wish they did cos i feel a bit out of it - but i cant help what tickles my old funny bone......i can just about cope with 'curb your enthusiasm' but even that makes me want to hide behind a cushion......DH loves stuff like "the thick of it" and "veep"....i managed to watch those but just cant find league of gents funny....

never mind. i tried. i watched as a man tried to stick his finger up a dogs anus then ran into a fire before exploding....
i watched a man dressed as a woman try to stab someone with a pen...
i watched as a woman was caught in a man trap set by the locals....
i watched as a bloke puked up as the 'special meat' was carved.....and the icing on the cake - the nudist bed and breakfast couple with her minge hair down to her knees and the stuck on tits (cos its a man....)

just didnt do it for me. must be somthing up with me i think.....hey ho.

Ah see Miranda leaves me cold at best, but mostly irritated.

LarkinSky · 24/08/2012 21:08

I had an extended stay in Hadfield, Derbyshire, where it was filmed (near the sometimes bleak Snake Pass that links Manchester and Sheffield). As a fan of the show I was delighted to be frequently, and quite innocently, be asked 'are you local?' by locals. I used to see foreign tourists visiting the town - Japanese possibly? - armed with copies of the DVD. Those were the days. Such an odd period of my life!

SneezySnatcher · 24/08/2012 21:13

YABU - it's amazing!

I got together with DH at a Halloween party. He was dressed as...Papa Lazarou.

joanofarchitrave · 24/08/2012 21:17

Seen it. Seen it. Seen it. Seen it. Seen it.
Love it.

Great thing about comedy though, there's something for everyone (can't help hearing Mark Gatiss saying this in a Creme Brulee kind of way).

trixymalixy · 24/08/2012 21:19

Love it, apart from the scenes with papa lazarou, that makes me shudder for some reason!

TalcAndTurnips · 24/08/2012 21:25

Favourite moment: Pauline returning to the JobCentre after her sacking and having a homo-erotic standoff with Cathy Carter Smith.

LexieSinclair · 24/08/2012 21:28

It is brilliant!
I was in the front row in the live show and it was a terrifying experience - Papa Lazarou looking for his wife in the audience had me almost hiding under my chair.
My favourite episode was where they had the weird sex weekend in the B&B and the guests ended up suffocated in their rubber suits. Sinister indeed.

noelstudios · 24/08/2012 21:39

Any pegs, Dave?

oldsilver · 24/08/2012 21:39

Everytime I see one of those theatrical vans parked outside a school I expect it to say "Legs Akimbo" Grin

Greige · 24/08/2012 21:46

Juliet Bravo!

ObviouslyOblivious · 24/08/2012 21:47

Oh god the vet! When he puts the wrong dog to sleep

maddening · 24/08/2012 21:50

it's meant to be sinister- it is written as a horror comedy - love love love it but then I am local :-)

love psycoville too - fucking fantastic

maddening · 24/08/2012 21:51

the vet is fab- when he blows up the tortoise and wanks off the giraffe hahahaha love all the characters tho

you're my wife now dave!

YingTongIddleIPo · 24/08/2012 21:52

I'm still waiting for Creme Brulee to reform.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 24/08/2012 21:53

I cant help but smile when I hear the name Olly. I just think Plimsolls.

Put yourself in a child. Cringe.

RagingDull · 24/08/2012 21:55

i realise its meant to be exactly what it is....

just cant watch it. the world must be made up of those who can watch:
curb your enthusiasm
veep
league of gentlemen
the thick of it
the office

and those who cant. i fall into the latter......it actually makes me feel terrible. i cringe. the only other time i ve ever felt so bad is when i was supporting a work mate who has a particular special need and said the most inappropriate things ever, out loud, in a class full of 16 people.....
i used to visibly shrink into my chair.....
everyone else laughed.
i didnt.
same kind of think i suppose. must be me!

Larkinsky - I am posting from Hadfield.

yes, we are sinister, OP.

Be local. Be very local.

Panzee · 24/08/2012 21:59

I call every visiting theatre group Legz Akimbo.
I often listen to the radio series and love it. I love all their stuff, the odd Series 3, Psychoville, the lot. :o

Panzee · 24/08/2012 21:59

Oh but I can't watch/listen to Dr Chinnery. Any of it. I have to hide. :)

BulletProofMum · 24/08/2012 22:01

Aah but then psychovillentakes it to a whole new level of disturbing. The visions of the dancing girl.

Genius

ObviouslyOblivious · 24/08/2012 22:01

My house was very nearly used as a location for PV! They (crew not actors) came and looked around and were very happy (don't know what that says about the house :o) but the filming dates clashed with our holiday :(

ColourMeWithChaos · 24/08/2012 22:03

Papa Lazarou fucking terrifies me.

I made DH go and check all the doors were locked again and again the night after I watched that first Papa Lazarou episode for the first time.

trixymalixy · 24/08/2012 22:11

Aaah, I'm going to have to hide this thread. Too many papa lazarou dave comments
