orright mucker, not seen you in ages, imagine finding you here Grin

FalseStartered · 24/08/2012 19:06

has Tubbs fed the chicks yet, OP?

mumoflittlemouse · 24/08/2012 19:07

The first episode I ever saw they were all having nosebleeds and I found it repugnant and about as funny as a punch in the face. However, somehow it grew on me and I ended up loving it and finding all the in jokes and weirdness deliciously funny. It's a weird sort of 'grower'.

mumoflittlemouse · 24/08/2012 19:08

'Have you got any special meat......?

Wink
JulietMontague · 24/08/2012 19:08

It is sinister but that is what is wonderful about it! I used to live in Bacup though so I know places like Royston Vasey exist! I also find Reece Shearsmith weirdly attractive - even dressed as a woman! Psychoville is actually brilliant too and (slightly) less dark I think.

whathasthecatdonenow · 24/08/2012 19:09

I did two weeks supply teaching just outside Bacup - never again!

Debeez · 24/08/2012 19:11

Plymouth?

JulietMontague · 24/08/2012 19:11

Bacup is a place you only go if you have to Grin

whathasthecatdonenow · 24/08/2012 19:14

They wanted me to stay on, I had to be all diplomatic about other bookings! I used to write everything on the board (I was in shock that they still used chalkboards) first thing then stand with my back to the door the whole lesson so that I could see them all and make a quick get away if necessary!

JulietMontague · 24/08/2012 19:18

Sounds about right, chalkboards are modern technology in Bacup you know! It's a shame, there are some good people but there's a real feeling of bleakness about that area. LoG is bloody brilliant though and exploits this paradox brilliantly. Benjamins character is the best example of how it can appear to a stranger.

tedmundo · 24/08/2012 19:19

Justin, my Justin, my very own Justin

gets a laugh in our house even after all these years!

whathasthecatdonenow · 24/08/2012 19:22

I'm not far away in a declining industrial town so I know what you mean! It is the Lancashire thing - every town looks down on the next one over until you get into Yorkshire!

MrsKwazii · 24/08/2012 19:24

Hello Dave Wink

wolvesdidit · 24/08/2012 19:25

It is the best series in the entire universe - hence my MN name!

FalseStartered · 24/08/2012 19:26

ted i always offer DS1 a cup of Duisburg cafe when he visits Grin

lottiegarbanzo · 24/08/2012 19:26

Well, YANBU, everyone cannot like everything. Does he like the Mighty Boosh? Everything else? If not you could equally claim he isBU.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 24/08/2012 19:26

You knew I had this gun!

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 24/08/2012 19:27

Anyone fancy a game of go jonny go go?

glastocat · 24/08/2012 19:29

I love it, it's supposed to be dark humour. I have been to lived in places like that though.

Rockyhorror · 24/08/2012 19:29

It's one of my most favourite shows ever. My email address was hokeycokeypiginapokey for many a year!

One of my favourite lines "I'm as old as me gums and a little bit older than my teeth." still makes me chuckle. And I can still quite happily sing along to the aqua vitae song, and Reece Shearsmith is the man I would leave my husband for!

iklboo · 24/08/2012 19:34

I nearly had a hernia watching Psychoville Series 2. Reece Shearsmith doing old lady doing Tina Turner impression.

scorchienne · 24/08/2012 19:34

Oh I miss it! Must dl some episodes actually...."I can I can't" "Its a local shop for local people", "yes, can I help you at all" Brilliant

I met a guy on holiday who grew up in the village where the league of gentlemen was filmed, lived near the roundabout zoo, he never got tired of tlog quotes...

FushiaFernica · 24/08/2012 19:35

Watching it on a live show is even worse, so dark and sinister, horrid, hate the fact that dp finds it funny.

wolvesdidit · 24/08/2012 19:35

O my god - the tina turner thing - I nearly died laughing! Also David's 'murder' scene for the murder mystery dinner. If ever I feel low, I watch these on youtube. Absolute brilliance.

FalseStartered · 24/08/2012 19:40

roundabout zoo makes me want to weep - for a while Don Estelle was a regular in our town centre on a Saturday, where he would be singing along to his backing tapes trying to sell his CDs Sad, i hoped he'd made a bit of cash fro LoG, enough to stop doing that
