My trusty old BlackBerry is not longer trusty and is dying. Will I just look like a nerd or is it still a slick bit of kit. Is it too big?

It's feckin massive.

I just got one as I was due for upgrade and decided to get the galaxy, it's amazing in terms of power, apps, graphics etc but. I think it's going to take a while to get used to the size

SoSoMamanBebe · 19/08/2012 16:03

Without wanting to sound too thick, where do you get the apps from?

I'm using mine now. Fantastic screen, much bigger and better than iphone for reading web pages and forums.
It has an app built in to connect with Google and download all the apps you could ever need.

BlinkersOn · 19/08/2012 16:45

I love love love my iphone BUT the screen is small. If you have other apple stuff at home (iPads, iMacs etc) then an iPhone may be better as they all interact so easily. I love the fact that music, pictures etc is instantly shared between all my devices. I know this is possible with non apple devices but for your average user Apple do this extremely well.

I can tether my iPad to my iPhone and I often pop my iPad into my handbag and use that rather than my phone as the screen is so much bigger. I do this if I am on a long train journey or something similar. I don't think that would be necessary if I had a Galexy 3

funkybuddah · 19/08/2012 17:00

Android FTW! I work in mobiles and the Android love is increasing, which I love

Mrsjay · 19/08/2012 17:06

MY eldest has a samsung and she loves it I am not into apple at all they seem to be taking over the world Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 19/08/2012 17:08

I can tether my ipad or my kindle to my Samsung. Get the android, much better phone.

Nanny0gg · 19/08/2012 17:09

The Samsung is wonderful. Really easy to use and very clear display.

And it has a Play Store.

SoSoMamanBebe · 19/08/2012 17:19

ooh - it looks like it's going to be the Samsung.

iPhone is also really expensive. Apple really take the Ipiss. (but I still lurve it Blush )

dementedma · 19/08/2012 17:42

Prefer android here. Just bought a nexus 7 tablet and love it

MikeLitorisRings · 19/08/2012 17:46

I'm on my s3 now. I love it.

I went from bb too and I got used to the screen size straight away.

I picked up dps old HTC desire this morning and it feels tiny now.

We were on a flight recently and dd could watch films on here with no problem.

Ds had an iPhone and hates it. Especially since I got my s3.

slatternlymother · 19/08/2012 17:48

iPhones all the way. Expensive, but they work and I would never convert to anything else.

Cherubim · 19/08/2012 17:49

What slatternly said.

kinkynagbag · 19/08/2012 17:51

wouldnt touch an iphone even if you paid me. iv gone from htc diser to samsung 3 and i love it. its a good sized screen, slick, reasy easy and fast.

kinkynagbag · 19/08/2012 17:52

oh and i only think the iphone is so expensive due to the name/makers. dont think their anything reall special. v limted to.

DoesItComeInBlack · 19/08/2012 17:56

Love my Galaxy xx

SoupDragon · 19/08/2012 18:00

IMO, the Samsung is too big for a phone but it's all personal preference.

MoreBeta · 19/08/2012 18:03

Ooh lucky I clicked here.

My phone is dying and DW has a broken Blackbery and we were thinking of both going with Samsung. DSs have Aple iPad though so a family war has broken out over whether to go Apple or Samsung.

Love the look of the Galaxy Note - sort of a phone and a tablet. I don't need a tablet all that much but handy every so often and definitley need a phone. In tech speak it is a ?phablet? and the Galaxy Note 2.0 is out later this month.

Any views appreciated.

hugandroll · 19/08/2012 18:04

I have an iPhone 4s and dh has the galaxy 3, both had htc desire s before. I love my iPhone and rate it highly over android, dh refused to have one as he hates apple and loves his galaxy.

The galaxy is huge. I can't reach all of the screen using just one hand, my dh has huge hands so has no problem but if you have normal or small hands you will have to use both each time you use the phone.

I find apple have more apps, especially mainstream apps and they work so much better on iPhone rather than android but I suppose it depends what you will use the phone for.

confusedpixie · 19/08/2012 18:06

I have a Galaxy S2. I love it Grin It was my first non oldschool nokia type phone and it's amazing! You get used to the size, surprisingly it fits into most jean pockets. I hate the iphone though, unreasonable of me I know, but I just don't like it and never have liked apple much (though the macbooks are growing on me)!

I find that the power on the galaxy isn't as good as other smart phones, I charge it most nights as I use it a lot for the internet during the day when my charges are asleep or busy eating lunch or something. I use a handful of apps but not many.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 19/08/2012 18:08

On principle I would never touch any Apple Products as they are only compatible with other apple products.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 19/08/2012 18:10

heard rumours that Apple are bringing out a new iPhone in September, so presumably i phone 4 will be cheaper? Rumor only...

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 19/08/2012 18:11

mine is f ing brilliant! really amazing!

Dogsmom · 19/08/2012 18:11

I've got the Samsung SII and it's fantastic, so easy to use, fast and the camera is superb, hubby recently had the iphone 4s and it's pants, the photos are nowhere near as good, especially indoors the screen is duller and less sharp than the SII and the functions are more basic, it's like the Fisher Price of the phone world, idiot proof and simple.

My contract is up next year and I'm getting the S3.

I'm not sure what you are looking to pay but I get unlimited internet, 2000 texts, 900 minutes for £25 a month on the 3 network (phone was free).
